For Those of You who Wear Costa Del Mar Frames...

Hoping folks on here can help. I recently purchased a pair of Costa Del Mar Jose frames with blue mirror 580 polycarbonate lenses. When they arrived I was surprised that the blue mirror finish on the lenses was not as bright as I thought it was going to be, more of a matte. I compared them to a bunch of images and videos online of the same Jose frames and all the ones I saw online sure seem to be much more "mirrored" and bright blue than the ones I was sent. Can anybody tell me if these appear to be “normal” or if I should be worried about being sent a non-authentic pair of frames? Or maybe do the real glass lenses have a more "mirrored" and bright blue finish on the lenses than the polycarbonate? Everything else with them appears authentic but I'm no expert. Thanks for any help!

A serious conversation on the Nazi Platform as it overlays modern America.

So, this is meant to be a serious discussion about how the Nazi platform fits into our modern poltical landscape.

Our overlords use the phrase "Literally Hitler" and such because it works as a manipulative tool...BUT...Hitler was a skilled orator and manipulator of the political situation in the early days.

Here is my early take:

Nazi party talking point distribution:

Democrats

-The authority of the state should be used frequently to enforce the will of the elites

-Industry should be centered around the government and serve the government’s purpose

-Undesirable people should be eliminated

-Religion is evil unless its our pseudo-religion

-People should be culled at every opportunity to create a master race

Republicans

-Sexual deviancy is undesirable

-Military service is the highest calling

Both

-We should meddle in the affairs of other nations incessantly

-Jews are evil

-There is a group of people who should rule based on their superior…something

-Only a surveillance state is a safe state

-Political prisoners are the best prisoners

Neither

-Corruption should be punished extensively

-The whole Aryan thing

First .223 bolt

Hello everyone,
I’m looking to get a .223 bolt gun to give myself a little more economical alternative to my 6.5 CM Howa Bravo Both in ammo and barrel life.

I’m having trouble determining what to get. Glass-wise I’ll put either an Athlon Cronus or Ares ETR on it. They’re no Kahles, but perfectly fine for a .223.

So - what gun to get. I’ve looked at Tikka, Howa, Savage and Bergara. I nixed the Bergara due to not being able to get a pre-fit for it. The Tikka seems out too as I can’t seem to find one with a threaded heavy barrel, just lightweight ones (3 years ago I couldn’t swing a dead cat in a gun store without hitting a CTR or four - those were the days). I figure I’d want a CTR or a Super Varmint. Can’t seem to find either.

The Howa Oryx is a pretty nice package for the money, but I’ve heard the mini action is kind of a pain in the ass the SA. My 6.5cm Howa Bravo is an absolute tack driver, which is what’s making me consider this.

Last is the Savage which I’d either get a 110 Varmint and shoot it in the acustock until it annoyed me enough to put it in something else (I do like the Bravo) or pony up for the 110 Elite precision. I like the price of the Axis Precision, and a few guys have them at the range and they shoot, but I don‘t think I want to live with that action long term.

So Hide - what’s your take? I’d like to stay at 1500 or less for the gun (optics’s already taken care of), and the Savage 110 Elite would stretch that a bit. The Howa Oryx would leave almost 500 on the table for other toys. The Tikka would probably put me right around 1500 (with a Bravo) if I could find the specific model I want.

Are there options I’m missing? I know a custom action would be better, but from what I’ve seen a good set-up will put me just under $2K for just the action, trigger, bolt and barrel. A little more than I’d like to shell out right now. Unless there’s a cheaper build option, I’m thinking it’s probably off the table for this gun (it will happen in the future though).

Thanks for any thoughts or advice you can offer!!!

SOLD $800 off ZCO Cert

Picked this up at the NRL Hunter Grand Slam this past weekend. Was thinking about putting it toward a 5-27 but the wife says nope. I’ll try and recover some travel cost I guess $500
The expiration date is a misprint. States Jan 22 but should be Jan 23. I also talked to Jeff at Zco 8/22 who said it could be extended.

A slew of SP10 questions

First post here; info searches have sent me here enough over the years that I know this is THE place to go with questions like this, so I finally joined. Sorry for being long winded - here goes:

I’m in the market for my first .308 AR10; I would rather buy, but I can build if necessary. I had a plan to go LMT, but parts availability, cost, and the proprietary nature of their barrels have made me change course. All I’ve read has pointed me in the direction of Seekin’s SP10 as a top-tier option. My wife is a southpaw, so ambi controls are icing on the cake.

Thing is, I really would like a more compact format. I’m looking for a 16” barrel and collapsible stock. I wrote Seekins a while ago, but given how overloaded they currently are, I doubt they’ll be able to help, or even reply. So, on to my questions:

If the configuration I’m after can’t be had from Seekins, and I go with a stock SP10 instead (assuming I can even find one),
  • Is the buffer tube standard, and will allow me to swap for a collapsible stock (size, detents, etc.). If not, can I just swap to a different buffer tube easily, or is the size/demands of buffer such that that’s an issue? For that matter, does the SP10 use a proprietary buffer?
  • Will the stock SP10 MLok handguard allow a 16” barrel? It is supposedly a 15” length, but “measured from where?” is always the issue with that. Any hurdles to swapping for a shorter tube?
  • Swapping the barrel would just be a new DPMS-style tube and matching bolt, yes? Or are there other pitfalls?
If availability means I need to go the “Builder’s Kit” route instead, what parts on an SP10 (other than frame/handguard and small parts kit) are proprietary to the platform? I’ve built several AR15s, but this would be my first AR10 build, and I know about the lack of standards and interchangability. Anything in particular about the SP10 of which I should be aware in this regard?

Last but not least, I’ve seen some SPX rifles for sale on the second-hand market. I know these were earlier models of what became the SP10. Does anybody know what the differences are? How are they with parts interchangeability?

Any other questions I didn't know enough to know I needed to ask?

Thank you all in advance for any help or bits of wisdom (or even wry laughter -😊)!

Teaching Children to Shoot and Other Things That Piss Off Leftists

This is an old video. It was okay till about 5:40 when the actor/salesman hands the father and AK-47. That was too much of a set up and an attempt to make a gun-owning father look bad. Still, I'm surprised that ABC would air something like this.

So is there anyone here that had real-life encounters with snowflakes and Karens that object to your kids learning how to shoot?

Back to the drawing board?

For those of you that run suppressed gas guns, have you had a tuned load for your rifle perform horribly once you mounted a can? I did load workup in 2020 for my .308 shooting a 155 scenar at 2726fps out of a 16” bbl, and it held pretty much 1 moa at 100. I had it doped out to 700, due to scope constraints I couldn’t do much past 800.
August 2020 I had a concussion and didn’t shoot for 2 years. During that time I got my tax stamp and a better scope, finally went out to the range this weekend to sight in and my load is shooting closer to 4 moa now with the can installed. I put 3 boxes through the gun, got frustrated and went home. I’m suspecting that I’m either really rusty from my hiatus or the can is causing issues.

My plan for the next trip is to dry fire a ton, and shoot for groups without the can mounted to rule out operator error, and then confirm with the can mounted.

Do you guys have any other suggestions before I end up scrapping this load and going back to the drawing board?

SOLD WTS: Uber Rare Manners TCS (Not for the faint of heart. )

Hello all,

This pains me more than anything, but I'm taking a break from competition LR shooting at this time. I shouldn't even sell this as I'll likely never be able to replace it, but I put a down payment on a pricey grail gun.

Because of that I am selling arguably one of the best looking and rare TCS stocks out there.

Manners PRS TCS
Saltwater Finish (The better run with large sponge work)
Full Mini Chassis
All front weights
1 rear weight
Sykes Clutch Plate
Manners Clutch handle
Manners Adjustable Cheek Rest Knob

As state above this is not for the faint of heart and I am NOT negotiable on price. If this is going to sell, it'll be because someone wants it. Not because you're good at haggling. ;) This is a full package in the BEST color. (In my opinion). I don't even wanna sell it, but money talks.

No Trades, No Offers, No Nothing. Cash is king and what will move this. If you dislike the price, keep walking or buy it elsewhere. (If you can even locate one.)

Asking Price: $$1850 shipped

Payment method: PayPal F&F (you cover any fees)

Shipping Method: USPS Priority Mail from my FFL to yours.

We are not just owners, but caretakers

I am reloading and shooting some 1960s or 70s Norma 357 brass today. I got this from the estate of a man I never met, but I bought his entire reloading setup several years ago. His last load written in his book was from 1967.

He had good tastes too. I got a bunch of LE Wilson, Brown and Sharpe, and RCBS stuff. I am glad he took care of it so well. This stuff we use will likely outlast us.
