So last night I tried using a method after watching a video by erik Cortina. Where you wax the inside of the bullet and send the bolt home slowly. Then open it fast. I measured before and after. (This is for a 6 creed) When I did this I was definitely hitting the lands. I measured before and after. And got the same measurement. My neck tension on the cases I was using was .240, so I think that might have been a problem? But I tried like 5 times and was getting measurements all over the place.

Questions

Has anyone ever used a fired case with loctite to find the threads? Ultimate reloader showed a video on how to do it, but red loctite? I can't imagine that would be fun if it got into the chamber.

Other than an OAL guage does anyone else have a simple method?

Ive got a 16" tikka 308 in a krg bravo with enclosed forend... and currently have a Burris XTR3 3.3-18 on backorder and starting to second guess it while I wait.

I can get the Eotech 1-10 for just a little more and have 8oz lighter glass.

Ill be using the rifle for hunting shots 0-200/250 and target shooting to 500, with the options to go out to 1000, but with a 16" 308 and a slow tikka barrel, Im wrapping this rifle up as a really good 500 yard and in rig with the capability to hit further, if I dont have my 24" 223 or 24" 6.5

Hello guys, Mounted my Z Comp527 in a Spuhr 6002, 1.5 in. Does this appear too high?
This is a MTU contour barrel in a MDT ESS chassis. Spuhr makes a 1.18 in high as well.

Trying to save my dollars to build a .22. No doubt I will use an MPA chassis to match my current Precision rifle. How does the B-14 barreled action compare to one of the two premium actions. The B-14 is a lot easier on my savings, but I want the thing to work. Anyone have thoughts, one way or the other?

Posted a video of my action. Easy bolt lift then at the top it snaps open pretty hard. I talk to ARC said that was normal not saying I don't believe them or question them at all just seeing if anyone else has that samething with these actions? I'm more or less just curious.

Arc Nucleus Gen 2 long action mag bolt face. 30 nosler but get samething on other calibers.

My loads show no sign of pressure with primers ect. My speeds are pretty dang slow in a 30 inch barrel for that not to happen just figured I'd throw that out there since it was going to be brought up.

Ok…. So I have a little money to burn here and I wanted to see what the peanut gallery thought…
I already own fairly lower tier scopes, a Vortex PST Viper Gen 1, and a Vortex Strike Eagle.

I (obviously) mostly do medium to long range, 500-1500 and want to go out further as I become better. That said I haven’t had ANY problem with either scope, for both 6.5cm and 300PRC out to 1500. 2nd or 3rd shot I’m normally on steel. Granted there is some chromatic aberration sometimes but it hasn’t effected my shooting…. At least thus far. I can generally do what other folks are doing as far as range w a scope that’s significantly less.

So the question is, I funds to invest in perhaps a Tract Tori’s or the Delta Stryker or the Bushnell XRS 3, (sub 2k range) but is it worth it or do I get another piece of cheaper glass like say the Arken EP5 (I’ve read and could be wrong that they are using Japanese ED glass like the others listed) and put money else where…..

What is the status of the nation's blood supply in the wake of everyone getting a clot shot and dropping over dead? In theory, anyone donating blood who has taken a vax is now 'infected' with vaccine. Their choice... fine, I get it.

But what happens if someone who is not willing to accept an experimental and dangerous vaccine that is killing people at an extraordinary rate... who needs a transfusion? In a medical emergency, is one going to get an arm full of blood that is swimming with things?

I'm not a medical professional, so I have no idea whether the blood supply puts the un-vaccinated at risk? Is there a way to request blood from non-vaxxed individuals? Are they even allowed to donate blood any more?

It's something I never thought of or heard discussed during all this crap. So what is the science? What are the concerns? How does it all work?

I'm sure you've been there before, you have an amazing four shot group and you don't want to ruin it with the fifth shot. Happened to me this morning.

I played musical scopes on my rifles last night after getting a Revic 4.5-28x that I wanted to put on my Surgeon Remedy .338. I don't like my rifles sitting around not zeroed so I went out to the local range this morning to get everything back in order. It's only a 100 yard range but that's fine for now. I haven't gotten into reloading for my .338 yet since the factory Federal Gold Medal Match 300 grain bullets do just fine, so I dropped one in, closed the bolt, and popped off the first shot. Hit about 8 MOA high and 4 MOA right - barely hit the big sighter target I use for first shots on paper for new rifles/scopes. Made my adjustments and like I always do I put two rounds downrange to confirm the first adjustments, then I fine tune from there. Those shots stacked low right, made adjustments and took two more shots (not pictured) higher but still right, then I made one more adjustment and planned to shoot a five shot group to wrap it up.

First shot hits nearly dead center. Alright, you go boy. 2nd shot touching. Third shot touching. Four shots in and they are stacked almost dead center bullseye. Amazing group. I know I can't stop at four shots because groups are either 3 shots or 5 shots otherwise you're a weirdo, but there is ALWAYS a flier and I did not want to mess up this group. I'm a 5 shot group guy myself so I had to take the last shot. Took a few deep breaths, focused extremely hard on my mechanics, then sent it. Recoil took me off target so I frantically searched around with the scope to get the target back in sight and breathed a sigh of relief when I saw the below final group. That 5th shot could have ruined my day and I did not want to take it, but glad I did.

For reference the orange box is 1.05" x 1.05".



Loving this Surgeon Remedy and bravo to Federal for making some really good factory .338 LM ammo. Can't wait to stretch its legs.

Setup is a R700 300WM in a McMillan HTG running a ZCO 4-20 in a Spurh mount. I want to put a Steiner C35 in front of the day optic, but haven't done this particular thing before.

If the best solution is "dump the McMillan, go to a chassis" then it is what it is; however, I'd like an intermediate option.

I have seen Spurh's side rail abomination-looking thing, but have concerns with flex and just general banging that second pecker on things.

Any help?

Mikayla Paulus and Adam Simjee decided to take a spontaneous trip to Alabama’s Cheaha State Park before returning to college in Florida this week.

Traveling was something the couple of 4 ½ years loved to do together, and a day spent in nature seemed like the perfect way to end the summer.

Instead, it ended in a horrific nightmare when Simjee was fatally shot during a robbery attempt on a National Forest Service Road. Investigators say the robbery and subsequent killing were carried by a woman was with a group of other people “living off the grid” in a camp in the national forest.


“I lost the love of my life,’’ Paulus said in an interview with AL.com. “This will be with me forever.”


Authorities late Tuesday said Yasmine Hider, age unavailable, and Krystal Pinkins, 36, are charged with murder, two counts of kidnapping and two counts of robbery.


Pinkins is being held in the Clay County Jail. Hider remains in custody at UAB Hospital in Birmingham after she was wounded in an exchange of gunfire with Simjee.


Simjee, 22, was about to begin the finance program at the University of Central Florida, and Paulus, 20, was beginning work on her master’s degree in counseling, also at UCF.


“We were starting school on Monday, so we wanted to do one last road trip,’’ Paulus said.


“I guess our moms felt something because they didn’t want us to go and told us to be safe. I told my mom we would be safe because Adam had his gun.”


The couple arrived at Cheaha State Park in Clay County, taking in the waterfalls and Boulder Rock.

It was mid-morning when they were flagged down by two women who said they were having car trouble, and the couple stopped to help. That is the way they were raised, and what they had been taught to do.


“I called my dad (to ask for car repair advice), watched some YouTube videos and tried to fix car,’’ Paulus said. “When we realized it couldn’t be fixed, I asked if she needed anything else.”


“She (Hider) pulled a gun, said put your hands up, walk into the woods and drop your phone and keys,’’ Paulus recounted.


Simjee, she said, was a “proud supporter of the Second Amendment” and had tucked his gun in his waistband when they stopped to help the women.


“He had his gun in his waistband the whole time because he said it was suspicious and this is how people get robbed,’’ Paulus said.


“My whole body went numb, but I knew I would at least be OK,’’ she said. “I was terrified, but I knew at any point Adam was going to pull his gun out.”


“He always made sure that I knew that I was protected and taken care of,’’ she said.


Hider asked them for their banking information and cell phone passwords.


“When she (the suspect) dropped her guard for a second, and lowered her gun for a second, he pulled out his gun and told her to get on the ground,’’ Paulus said. “She started messing with her gun and it was jamming but they shot at each other.”


“She was shot three times and he was shot once. Her femur was shattered so she couldn’t get away,’’ she said.


The second female suspect - Pinkins - ran off into the woods once the gunfire erupted.


Paulus called 911 and remained on the phone with dispatchers for about 30 minutes. “I had to do chest compressions the last five minutes,’’ she said.


Simjee was unresponsive and never spoke again after he was shot.


“He went down, and he was struggling,’’ she Paulus said.


Sheriff Jim Studdard on Tuesday while they were searching for the second suspect - Pinkins - they were led to a large group of tents that had been sent up in the forest. He described it as a base camp, which was located about a half mile from the crime scene.


As authorities were approaching the base camp, they observed Pinkins standing near the tents. As officers were ordering Pinkins to the ground, a 5-year-old child ran from the woods holding a loaded shotgun.


Law enforcement officers told the child to put down the weapon however the child continued to his mother’s location before putting the gun on the ground. Pinkins is also charged with endangering the welfare of a child, and the child is now in the custody of DHR.


Paulus returned to Florida Monday to be with her family.


She said her relationship with Simjee was like a fairytale and she had been expecting an engagement ring from him any day.


“He kept it a secret,’’ she said, “but we were definitely going to get married and have kids and be together.”

“Yesterday my world ended. I had to watch as my reason for being, my soulmate, my life partner, the future father of my child, died in the middle of a state park in Alabama. No words can begin to describe the shock and pain I’m in. We had our entire lives ahead of us.


Adam is the best person I’ve ever met on the face of this entire planet. He was the most pure soul and he died protecting me.


It comforts me to say he passed in one of his favorite places, the forest in the mountains.”


She said losing Simjee was her biggest fear.


“I always asked him what he expected me to do if he died,’’ she wrote. “His answer was to take care of our children, (at the time it was three cats) so that’s what I’ll do.”


Paulus said Simjee was creative, smart and selfless. “He would do anything for anybody,’’ she said.


He died protecting her, as he always said he would do.


“If he didn’t have his gun, I don’t know if I would have made it,’’ she said. “So, he really is my hero and that’s exactly something he would do.”


She said the pain is something she’s never experienced nor expected.


“There’s no way this is my real life right now. It’s absolutely horrible,’’ Paulus said. “I can’t imagine it being much worse.”


Asked about the two women who committed the crime, Paulus said, “They were starving and desperate and that’s what people do when they’re desperate.”


Paulus said she feels like she will forever be change.


“I definitely learned that you can’t help anybody anymore. You never know what people’s true intentions are,’’ she said. “You can’t help people anymore without worrying about your safety.”
