Need Info on Remington 40-XS

Plenty of information can be found about them on the Internet. This is mine purchased in late 2007 and 7 mm Remington magnum. It is a single shot built on a short action and the receiver is solid on the bottom so there is no magazine of any sort. Strictly a single shot. I think mine with the McMillan stock and the muzzle brake and a 27 1/2 inch barrel was something like $2700. I’d have to check. I still have the receipt in the original hard case that it came in.

This one was custom and came with a muzzle break and allegedly they threaded the muzzle breaks with left hand threads. I never confirmed that, but it might be a relevance if you ever try to change things up.

They are known to be very solid and Trude actions that result in excellent accuracy and came with a guaranteed target for anything 30 caliber and under. Mine was consistently a 3/8 minute gun until I replaced the barrel this summer after about 1500 rounds.

As mentioned custom shop is now permanently closed

They were definitely button rifle barrels in the rumor always was that they came from heart or were made in house.

Mine is at LRI right now getting a side bolt release added. Earlier I added an M-16 extractor to the bolt so it should be modernized now. That is a McMillan A3 stock, which was a custom order option that you see in the photo.

Suppressors Form 4 wait time

It will be a combo of system overload along with inventory. Likely price hikes for a while as well. $200+ price hikes?? Could be a possible, depending upon how much of a run on them there is...then prices will normalize, then drop after a time. Year or so. -That's assuming no other NFA market influences (further law changes, proposed changes etc etc).
Yeah, I took advantage of "free" tax stamp now on a CAT WB that I've been eyeing for a while. Approval was like 28 hours. Anything else I think I need/want I'll go ahead and get before January.. especially if there's a free tax stamp or $200 credit. Nothing I'm interested in is there at the moment but $200 could/would make me pull the trigger on a can I normally wouldn't. RTR

RIP Loni Anderson

I recall Bert saying she was a dry hole. No pussy, withheld sex always and fucked like a corpse after she tricked him into marriage.

Apparently the pussy flowed on the casting couch, after that you just had a mannequin that emptied your bank account.

He hated her til he died. He pretended to reconcile for the sake of the kid.
Her and Burt had a house in these parts. I can believe that. Had a friend that did some work for them, and the stories were pretty wild. Burt basically just tolerated her and her bullshit apparently.

She would come into town to shop, and bring the driver, and the housekeeper. The driver drove the shopping cart, and the housekeeper grabbed whatever she pointed at. She was above such things as grabbing something off a shelf I suppose. That's for plebs.

Is a 1 in 7 twist too fast for a 7mm prc

I would never make a compromise building an expensive rifle because of an availability issue

Seven is too fast. It can be harder to get it to shoot good that’s why benchrest shooters never use fast twists. It can be a benefit on the far end past a mile for stability, but you’re probably not using it there. And yes, the torque can make it harder to shoot, and jacketed bullets may come apart and any internal center of mass variability will make your groups open up

Proof Atlanta is a real shit hole.

Atlanta like most cities was once upon a time a nice place to live and visit because of whites........then another group of citizens fuck it up so whites move and create another nice place (Buckhead) and now its getting fucked up by the same people that fucked up downtown ATL.
Was in the ATL Saturday morning early for an Ikea run for my niece.

This is true. Also true is that now the H1B visa Indians (dotted kind, not feathered kind) are fucking up all of the surrounding areas as well (Alpharetta, Roswell, Cumming, etc). The Costco by my sisters place looks like you're in Mumbai.

The "New" Barrett MRAD Thread!!!!!!

My understanding is they use the exact same trigger module. So if Barrett is telling the truth about commercial weapons currently not displaying the issue, that leads me to believe that it's either an issue with someone adjusting the trigger module(armorer) or it's an issue appearing at a certain round count, since the military is very likely firing these more often than most civilians. Either way, Barrett needs to get in front of this and start letting people know what's going on.

I sure hope this doesn't become the norm with Barrett after its sale to NOIA.
The commercial MRADs I do believe use a 2 stage, whereas all MK22's mil and commercial side use the same single stage.

Also, I was told that the issue was happening due to the trigger adjustment screws starting to walk. They are semi fixed with a thread locker of some sort, and when exposed to excessive cleaning solvent it can break down and the screws can walk.

Thoughts on the Desert Tech Covert?

The downsides to Desert Tech is that their quality control (and general attention to detail and refinement) sucks donkey schlong, their customer service is spotty at best, sometimes great sometimes abysmal, they have had issues with tolerance stacking and inconsistency, the triggers can be hit or miss, but can be honed to be just about as good as a trigger tech diamond set at 1 pound if you’re willing to work on it. My trigger on my A2 ranks with trigger tech, on my HTI It is as good as an old jewel plus as other others have said you either like their economics or you don’t. The bolt throw can take some getting used to, but is totally doable, especially once it’s broken in and you learn the proper technique which is treat it like a two bit whore on navy payday: Run it hard.

The upsides are that you can have one expensive scope sitting on a rig that uses five or 10 caliber spanning 223 up to 338. Also, same bipod, same trigger, same everything except for the caliber, which is very convenient. The rifles are stupid accurate because of the broad 5 to 6 inch clamping mechanism and repeatability after changing a barrel is almost always within one click on your scope. The short overall length allows me to run a 40 inch barrel in my 50 BMG and have it be as long as a 29 inch barrel in a regular 50. The covert exploits that footprint advantage even more. It reduces the clutter in my safe enormously because I have six different calibers for my SRS and two different calibers for my HTI - but only two guns in there rather than eight. Finally, when you need a new barrel, you don’t need to send off your whole action and everything to the gunsmith, he just needs a barrel extension and maybe a bolt and can just ship it to you and it is plugged and play as opposed to a custom rig which is gonna require the whole gun being shipped back-and-forth and heads, spacing checked and so on.

Would I take one to war? Absolutely not because Desert Tech has not invested in the quality control that they need to have me bet my life on it. But in a low stakes environment, it is a great way to shoot steel or varmints or game or whatever.

I really really really love mine. But I have shot them enough over the past 12 years to be well familiar with their faults which I cannot ignore and will not hide.

Beyond Pissed Applied Ballistics Licensing

And in theory you said the code should work on the same device. I was trying to reinstall on the same computer which shouldn’t count as a new license but the “secret sauce” of the program is reporting my same computer as a “new” device.

I’m not running around with 5 copies and have had to fight to get it installed each time when having technical issues with my computer.

Per your words if it was installed on a thumb drive or tried to “pirate” it the file would delete itself. Obviously I’m not trying to do that. . . Simply wanted it installed on the same computer it was previously on.

The main takeaway is your software has identified a “new computer” each time resulting in the need for 3 licenses…

If it was exactly the same device, the code would have worked. I did explain to you that the software is hardware locked to a specific computer, giving you examples of how the software will stop working if attempted to use on another device including from a thumb drive or by swapping the hard drive into a new computer etc. I have no way of guaranteeing the new computer is exactly the same computer, but the software and the fact that you mentioned you had to reinstall everything tells me something major happened. You tell me that you sent your old computer into to Apple, and that you had to "Reinstall everything on the one you received". The software itself reads internal serial numbers (this is how it works) and found that the serial number on the new device internally did not match the old device you unlock code was for.

But I am not here to argue semantics. I am just here to simply state that I understand you are upset. However you were requesting a 5th license when only 3 were purchased. That should be something that is also included in the rant for a bit of clarity/honesty.

I never used the word "pirate" at any time during our conversation or accused you or anyone of attempting to do so.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After watching your video, you did not hit the calculate or the enter button the keyboard after altering the data. This is why the data did not "save" or really update. The software is working just as it always has. When you modify the parameters you need to perform an action to recalculate everything out and have those parameters input. After adjusting Muzzle Velocity or anything for that matter try pressing enter on the keyboard or the calculate button in the software.

Police Appreciation Thread

There’s always someone higher up to report them to
I agree, but I have to live across from the buy. His oldest boy was shooting a bb gun, it looked like he was shooting a trailer that's parked behind their property. I called that neighbor and said to check his cams because it looked like he might be, but I wasn't sure. He had already called the sheriff, and the sheriff pulled in my driveway and asked me what I saw, and I said I saw him shooting his bb gun, but I wasn't sure what he was shooting, that was it. Cop neighbor kids never answered the door when the police showed, so he never got their statement. Cop neighbor obtained the police report, saw who called, and who was questioned, then his wife came over to my house and was banging on my door. None of us were home at the time, so I never got to hear what she had to say to me, I just saw the ring cameras from the house and cameras on the driveway. All that to say, could I report him, yes, but then he's going to get access to that letter, and find out it was me, and I still have to live here....across from this guy, and 2 of his 3 kids are little assholes. His middle son is cool as fuck, he's gonna be a badass adult one day, but the other 2 are likely to become asshole cops like their dad. It wouldn't surprise me if he was using his creds to track my posts on here, and he reads this.

300 Rum Build

I presume you are at magazine Max length with those 180s? What is your COAL and how far are you off the land? Oh, and what brass? Nosler?

I have had three of the RUM over the last 20 years and the major difficulty is getting them to feed through a magazine, getting a magazine that allows Long heavy bullets to fit, and getting good brass that can take the pressure for several reloads

But that one definitely shoots good
