Thank you @RAVAGE88 for this very informative post. I remember closely following the initial post and interest in the 1:9 barrel "saga" but you would only let a little bit squeak out. I remember how cryptic some of your posts were in answering questions at the time. This really helps fill in those gaps and gives me/us a better understanding of everything involved.

Reloading for shorter barrels?

My go to load for any 6.5 is a 140 ELDM with 42.0 gr H4350 in a Hornady case and that load has shot 1/2 moa in 5 different barrels going from 18" to 26" (one of them a gasser). It's 2800+ in the 26" pipe and 2620 in the 18". I've since run out of H4350 but have lots of N160, N150 and N555. I couldn't get a load to shoot as tight/not over pressure at that same speed with N160 with my go to load (42.5) with that powder running 2555fps in the 18" barrel. I might try some N150 (although I prefer that for .223) and will definitely try some N555. I just kinda balk at buying more H4350 at what it costs now compared to what I get Viht powders for, haha.

Rifle Scopes Leupold Mark 4HD

I hope you guys don't jinx me, cuz my Leupys track and run and git-r-done
I have the 3-18 and 6-24, other than having to tweak the caps to line up both I very pleased with both of them. Glass is really good and they both track good. The 6-24 is on my PRS22 so we’ll see how the turret holds up to a season of dialing.

Cleaning up the leade question….

Correct! If it ain't broken and shoots good, leave it alone. That is why I don't like Borescope, Not a gunsmith , but I did sleep in a holiday inn once, don't look for trouble. Every barrel has some level of imperfection, most of them won't mess with the bullet, but if you are not experienced you can accidently do something and mess up a great barrel. Yes messing with stuff is fun, but you should learn on junk, a trait I hope to learn someday.

Night Vision Help buying a thermal

I am looking to purchase my first thermal scope. It is going to be used on a .22 ARC AR primarily but may get shifted over to a .22-250 bolt gun once in a while. I am going to use it for varmint hunting here in Maryland and Virginia. Mostly coyotes, foxes, and raccoons on my family farm. I will take it to Florida for hog hunting in February. My budget is around $7,500.00 right now but I can go up a little if I have to. I have been looking at the AGM Adder V2 640 or 1280 and the NocPix Ace H50R or H60R. I keep going back and forth between the 640 resolution vs the 1280 resolution and the base magnification of 2 vs 3. I know I can save a little bit going with the 640 but can't help but think cry once buy once and get the 1280. I like the occular magnification on the Nocpix but have held and looked through the AGM at a gun show and was impressed with it. Is there a practical advantage of the 1280 vs 640? I know my shots are not going to be farther out just because of the increased resolution. I figure with the longest I will take a shot at night will be maybe 300 yards. I have only been hunting once with a thermal and that was using a clip on that my cousin owns. He limited the shots to 150 yards since I was not used to his rifle.

5.56 AR Only Loads

Yep. This is why I use expander mandrels (either separately or in the FL die). I dont fuck with bushings
I turn down the expanders in my fld's so they straiten case mouths and pre-expand far under size on the neck.

And separately bring them to size with the mandrell die.

Something about that procedure dropped groups 20% and some loads a little less some more but every load improved enough to see results.

Brass also runs better in the fld's .

Get the necks " straitened out" and other things fall into place / results of changes are easier to measure.

Not an expensive tool just another step, well worth it to me.

StaBall HD vs H1000

Heh, come up to North Central Texas, I'll show you some wind! My local range is out to 1430, so I get to go regular.
Yeah, it looks like y'all are in for some really good wind the next couple of days.

There's supposed to be a 1000 yard range happening local to me in the near future but I haven't heard any more about it. I got on the list for future membership. $500 a year though.

BadgeCam from the Weezer Wife Shooting

This discussion is not balck and White. I have had the unpleasant experiance of pointing a firearm through my patio door at a local cop who was banging the fuck out of my back door, freaking the shit out of my sleeping wife sleeping feet away.
He was looking for a burglar who was breaking into homes in my neighborhood. No idea why he banged on my back door?
If my wife screams someone is breaking in, and I know we have a burglar working the area I am gonna come armed.
We saw each other, and he booked to the well lit front door to explain.
What if I had a over zelious trigger finger, what if he lit me up even though I was inside my house?
Shit like this happens fast.
I get the difference in the Weezer lady's not great move to go outside, but these things can happen.

This one was made in 1972. The Blue Streak is at another shop for repairs on issues that developed from a previous shop (located in Myrtle Beach, the name reminds everyone of a Model A, and he didn't make good on his word....stay away!) This rifle chrony'd at 731 FPS, and I just started sighting it in earlier. All original, I had to give it a good home! Nazi ammo in an American air rifle.....it's all good...how did we get to the moon..?:ROFLMAO:
I still have my Blue Streak I got for Christmas in 1966.

Somehow in your head that's probably a really good analogy, but it makes no sense.

UNLESS- you are trying to imply that to resist misconduct on the part of an "armed professional law enforcement officer" it is the same as trying to reverse the momentum of a heavily-cargo-laded 18 wheeler at short distance, in an intersection.

...and if the impulse to do misconduct is really that powerful, such that it is nearly unstoppable, how about we enforce equally powerful consequences?
Whoa, which part is misconduct? That's a legal term, so use it correctly. To say they are morons is one thing, but misconduct is clearly defined.

You...um... wouldn't be talking out of your ass here right?

Cops absolutely had the right to disarm her in that scenario, and I doubt we will ever ask them to let people shoot at them without returning fire, so... where is the misconduct? There's a clear lack of wisdom on display, but I doubt seriously anything anything they did there was illegal.
