Ryan's MK13-7 is going live on Rock Island in a few hours. This is a peak MK13-7 with contract era 'Wylie' marked Stiller action and the rarer Tan Anodize Chassis. Not many Tan Anodized Chassis are in the civilian market. MileHigh Shooting sold a handful of overruns long ago. The vast majority of MK13-7 Chassis on the commercial market are Mil-Spec Cerakoted. Rifle was built by Chris at Redbull. Excited to see what this goes for. If anyone is looking for a MK13-7 - Ryan's is a pinnacle build.

You may want to try the DNT The One. It’s under your budget. I have one and like it. Or you ca get a Burris II 5-25, it’s also dropped in price since it first came out. I have a couple and for the price it’s good.

Ugh, my latest Kubota M5-111 requires DEF. Would be nice when I have to buy another one in another decade if it didn't require DEF.

I should have mentioned that best precision typically occurs with >90% or so of case capacity. This provides consistent ignition of a uniform powder column so most loaders are going to be loading on the higher end of recommended load ranges.

From what little I saw trickle into the news, the relaxed mandates on DEF are only aimed at diesels other than road vehicles. Is there anything more encompassing or is it really just tractors and equipment ?

Everyone else has mentioned the big contributors. Keep in mind that the trigger lock time on a bolt-action rifle is somewhere around 2-3 milliseconds. For a mil-spec AR trigger that is heavier and gritty, the lock time can be as much as 15 milliseconds. So basically the rifle has more time to move and is more likely to move between the time the trigger is pressed and when the bullet leaves the muzzle.

Combine that with junk ammo, junk barrels, junk optics with little or no magnification, shooters who don't really understand or apply the fundamentals of marksmanship, and the results are as the OP described.
