Flat Rear Bag - For under Main Bag

I have a couple of good rear bags with bunny ears used for ELR and F-TR. I am looking for a thin flat sand-filled bag to sit under the main rear bag as needed to raise it. I am looking for something thin so i can have multiple available and add/remove as needed to adjust height of the main rear bag.

I am looking for sand filled so it doesnt shift during recoil.

I have some heavy rubber horse mats but they tend to not always lay flat and do not adjust to uneven terrain.

Any thoughts?

Gunsmithing What exactly am I trying to clean from my barrel?

Lots of y’all have shared so much great info in my rookie barrel cleaning thread and it got me thinking.

I know the obvious answer is we clean to remove carbon from burning powder and then, if we feel that there is copper buildup, we remove that.

There’s so much debate over how clean is enough, but what is happening in a dirty barrel that affects accuracy?

There’s so much heat and friction happening in a microsecond, and if the jacket is engaging the rifling, it’s exiting the barrel at the same speed and spin as it always does.

Right? What is happening to a bullet in a barrel that’s had 350 rounds through it versus a perfectly clean barrel?

Does some fouling help? Is a barrel that has a single round through it “dirty” and therefore (theoretically) less accurate than a perfectly clean barrel?

New Manners TCS-MAX

New Manners TCS-MAX for 2025…

Personally, I’m kind of underwhelmed, as the new one seems to balance exactly the same way as my first generation old one with the original steel rail they offered originally already does (the new one is just a little heavier overall). The new one just seems to help fix the problem with the newer TCS stocks that come with the lighter aluminum rails they moved to over the last couple/few years being tough to balance right (which was a poor decision to move to IMHO when compared to the early steel railed ones).

Things I think were missed or weren’t addressed are the grip to trigger distance is still too long for anyone who doesn’t wear XL-sized gloves, and I was hoping they’d make the forearm longer to get the bipod out further and add more real estate, maybe with mlok on the sides instead of the Sike’s rails to add weights or whatever out front, etc. I also don’t dig that they require bottom metal now as the mini-chassis was already pretty sweet (it maybe just needed an adjustable mag catch for some).

Reloading Equipment Triebel Dies - 300WM

Triebel Guntools has been in business for more than 60 years manufacturing some of the highest precision reloading tools and gunsmith tools in the world. These are Professional grade tools for serious ‘smiths and reloaders that take a serious interest in their craft. Tribel sells their tools all over the world.

Up for sale are some of their beautiful reloading dies in 6.5CM, .300WM and .338LM. It is a pleasure just to hold these in your hand and see and feel the quality of these amazing dies, but when you put them to the test and begin to see the absolute repeatability these dies can give you that’s when the real magic happens. These were used very little, and all are in perfect condition.

We measure our powder down to the 1/100 of a grain, don’t waste all that energy by using substandard dies. Enjoy the best!

Rifle Competition Events NRL Barrel Question

I am new to NRL Hunter and currently building my first rig. My question is…which barrel is better for NRL? I don’t have experience with either. My thoughts..

Steel Fluted = can hold up to longer (8 rds) strings of fire but heavier depending on contour. Possibly could go shorter to save weight but then I lose velocity/power factor.

Carbon = lighter & possibly longer which benefit weight and velocity but may start to drift the more it heats up. Even with a thicker contour I don’t think that is enough to change how the heat will affect it given how they are constructed.

Or neither and I should look into something else.

*Im trying to stay in the open light division with a 6.5 CM setup
