I recently put a 20” Shaw barrel on one of my Ar15’s. At the same time a Geissele ssa-e x trigger. I am very pleased with the accuracy and light recoil. Only using store bought ammo 32 grain. I have killed 7 coyotes with it recently and even 200 plus yard shots. I like it much better than the 18” 556 ba barrel that was on it. Now I am addicted to night hunting and go out almost every night.

262 yards. That’s a record for me. I know that’s not a big deal to lots of folks. I also got a sturdy tripod and am doing much better.

Identify ELCAN SpecterDR Model

I saw a blue ELCAN SpecterDR at an auction, it says SpecterDR by ELCAN SU-230/PVS 5.56 Articulated Telescope 1240-01-533-0939 MFR 36126.

It doesn't match up with anything I've found online so far, and while everything general I've found on SpecterDR models says 1x-4x, on the other side from the above information, this one is marked 1x or 16x.

Could it be some kind of prototype? Or maybe I happened upon something that's only supposed to be known to the Men In Black?

Any information would be appreciated.

Cannot help it, got to post. Grandson @ Cooperstown Tournament

Super, young man. Great talent, even better character. Single elimination 104 teams - they took it all last week. What a hoot to watch!

What Vises Are You Using (Barrel or otherwise)

I use two - a (not made in China) Wilton Bullet Vise and an Orange/Area419 Setup. Adding in the Orange with the Area419 package really made tasks like removing/installing muzzle devices much easier since I don't have a dedicated barrel vise.

Before I bought the Orange, I almost bought the Short Action Customs Kit several different times. Has anyone used it? It looks very nice and not too expensive for what you get.

Here's mine:

Golden Eagle Zero Stop Assistance

Got a deal on a GE for F-Class. Got it zero'd (harder than I thought it would be).

Anyway because its MOA (yeah F-class is all MOA) I can turn those turrets about 57 times. Eventually I can bottom the elevation out--the problem is I have about 2 turns more to get to the zero stop. If you loosen the screws the turret just "spins" so you can align to zero, but you can't "force" it down another revolution.

I'm a little OCD so I like to zero with a hard stop, but was wondering how to "reset" the turret so that my "zero" truly is "zero" not just zero on turn 2. (Yeah there's a line there, i could mark it--I like mechanical over visual).

Would it make send to intentionally add 10 MOA, realign to zero (loosened screws) and then dial "down" that 10MOA until I bottom it out?
