My son and I ended up trading for a semi custom Savage 110 action paired up with a Criterion 28” heavy barrel chambered in .284 winchester. It is in a Yankee Hill chassis with a ruger precision stock. Had a Riton 4-28x56 conquer 5 on it as well. The previous owner had a few loads put together so we could try it out and we did this weekend. Fun rifle to shoot. Took all of 6 rounds to zero and shooting 3/4” 100 yards groups. He did include about 80 pieces of brass and 500 180 grain nosler projectiles so we are trying to decide if we should get into reloading or if we should just rechamber this barrel to a different 7mm (magnum) or rebarrel all together. Since this particular cartirdge seems popular amongst the F class crowd, I thought I would post this and see what others might think or suggest some load work up. Thanks

Do any of you have any experience or thoughts on the Volquartsen Firefly bolt for 10/22? I had one installed on my Ruger Charger 22 and it worked great for few sessions and now I can’t cycle subsonics . That’s the purpose of this bolt, to cycle subsonics. Well, that’s what I thought. Numerous Failure to feed. Basically a single shot. The gun was just cleaned and still it jams quickly. I still ave the original bolt. Accuracy is unaffected. Just reaching out for thoughts and opinions. Thanks.

The GF bought an M brace mount (32mm height) for her DNT "The One". The idea was she wanted to lift her scope up some to get it off her chassis (Daniel Defense Delta 5 pro). However, the reticle plug/cover on the bottom of the scope kept it from being able to be mounted on that mount. Does anyone know if the 38mm height will work for that scope or have any other suggestions?

I put this together around the start of the pandemic lockdown a few years back, and I am ashamed to admit it's only had ~1000rds through it (as that's around the same time I got deep into bolt-guns). This deserves a better home and belongs with someone who'll really use it. This beast is a blast and runs like a watch.

Full Cajun Gun Works race trigger (it has everything except for the shortened DA reach, which I didn't need/want). Its trigger is a thing of beauty with a smooth ~5lb DA stroke like a nice revolver and a 1911-like crisp ~2lb SA that's as nice or nicer than any other Shadow variant I've ever handled (and I've handled more than a few nice ones). I just recently received my mini fix and while I love the gun it seems to be having a pretty large issue with light primer strikes on a wide variety of ammo. I've even used a number of my reloads using CCI 450, CCI 41 and CCI BR4 primers and I have issues with pretty much all of them. I'm at a loss at this point as to what I can do to remedy this issue. I already contacted Q and they basically stated they're aware of this issue and are working on something and then blamed the ammo. It seems like a stronger firing pin spring would do it but I really don't know much about the make up of the bolt for this gun. Has anyone else had this issue and if so what did you do about it? All the rounds that didn't fire in my fix fired just fine in my MCX as well.

I was having a conversation with someone today about 300Blk and the conversation went to the distance a 300 Blackout could shoot effectively. The person I was talking to said beyond 300 yards they were useless. I have 5 different 300 Blackouts (building a 6th) and I have them setup for doing different things. Subs, Supers, Thermal setup for night shooting, scoped setup for day, etc. However I dont have one setup for distance. I shoot 6.5 Creedmoor, 308 and even 223 to distance.

So the question is really just a curiosity, Im not saying this is a good idea. Although its possibly not a terrible idea. What if someone built a 300Blk AR15 from the ground up where the primary purpose was to shoot distance with supers. I realize if I say effectively that would be subjective but I dont mean artillery shots. I mean how far can 300Blk shoot and stay supersonic? All adjustment done via dialing the scope (say around 60 MOAish max) not maxing the hold of the reticle and then dialing too. You might even take it hunting so whatever the distance is it still needs enough energy to kill a deer sized animal at this distance.
What Barrel length would be used? Twist rate? What bullet would be used? What powder, brass, primer? What brands of parts for the gun itself if you think that matters? How would you do it?

How far to you think the "optimal" setup could shoot effectively?

I have looked at ballistics and I have a guess but I wanted to post here and see what other think. I might even take one of my 300Blackouts, modify it a bit and give this a try just for the fun of it.

Just picked up an AXSA and looking for a good optic. Looking at the M7XI and the PMII- havent quite landed on the reticle but I am a fan of the MSR2 and the P5FL reticle for SB. Im kind of leaning towards finding a used M7XI at $2500ish and spending the rest on a can. Otherwise- I could spend about $3500 on the PMII- worth the coin + difference?
