Suppressors Direct Thread

Question - I have a 9 mm suppressor that I swap back and forth between my SBR and my Glock. When used on the Glock I install a Hub device with a piston but not when on the SBR. Is it ok to leave the piston in place and use it on the SBR? I have never seen this discussed. Thanks in advance for the input.

Calling all Massholes

Being a glutton for punishment I decided to get myself involved in another court case.

This one focusing on limited issues associated with the new MA gun laws that are so messed up they have to keep delaying them.

5 or 6 plaintiffs lead by one very savvy dude have filed a case in the MA Supreme Judicial Court to achieve three goals.

1. Eliminate firearms licensing
2. Remove the state prohibition on cans. MA being one of only 8 states that prohibit them
3. Prevent the expansion of the “gun free zones” called for in the new law.

The basis of the case is fighting in state court where the MA SJC has indicated it is applying the Bruen standards as stated. The recent ruling that rescinded the 70 year old law on switch blades would indicate they are interpreting the defense amendments in their historical context.

Explanation of the case from the lead plaintiff here….It’s about a 45 minute presentation and it makes sense to my biased self.

If we win it will really cost you getting your barrels threaded, paying for stamps and buying cans.

Those costs will be offset by the $125 savings every 5 years not paying for a license.

Maggie’s Riding The Storm Out

I'm sure there are many watching the same thing I am, and also in the path..............massive storm west to east in the middle of the country.
I'm just west of the KC metro..........it's 26 deg. and it's been raining for 12 hours............the blizzard watch goes in to effect at 3:00 am.......and runs for 24 hours............predicting....1/2"-3/4" of ice then 7"-14" inches of snow on top of it.
Interstates closed..........Mo. governor ask for National Guard assistance, Ks. governor declares state wide emergency.
Mo. High Patrol says if you are stranded on the highway, expect to be there for hours............
I got food, beer, whiskey, and a generator, and plenty of gas.........................so, I'm.........riding the storm out.........let's hear about everyone else in the path of this storm.........and last but not least...............crank it up..................

Something fun

I didn't know where this would fit in so I felt like the Armory was as good a place as any. Rewind to the summer and I get it in my head to make a sling shot and although I've never made a sling shot, how complicated could it be? Turns out I didn't know what I didn't know and neither bungee cords or bicycle inner tube make for a good sling shot. I found some forums for sling shots and read that exercise bands are a decent alternative for making slingshots so I picked one up, cut it up, and made this contraption. I know I could've bought a sling shot band or hell a whole slingshot for what I paid for the exercise band but I wanted to make one from scratch, it was fun.

It'll send one of those glass balls through a cardboard box and dent the other side at about 10' or so, which I'm happy with.

SOLD Proof 18" 6mm Arc Upper - VLTOR, Geissele, JP parts

Looking to sell my Proof 18" 6mm Arc Upper.

This was my first foray into "accurizing" a gas gun, so it got the full works (steel shim and green loctite) when building, following the advice from the written work of Joe Carlos.

I'm selling this now because I plan on building an almost-identical setup, but in a much shorter barrel length, to shoot suppressed.

Parts list:

I would like $1200 OBO (shipped) for this setup. It has approximately 500 rounds down the pipe.

the full length arca rail handguard by CMT is superb, adding weight and tripod/bipod ideal flexibility. I would consider selling without the Geissele Bolt Carrier, to reduce the price, if necessary. You would still get the headspaced JP Bolt, just need to provide your own carrier (tested with JP FMOS, worked well).

I also tested this on a variety of magazines once I figured out the gas system, and can confirm it works reliably with both grendel mags, and dedicated 6mm arc mags, and will feed from both ASC and duramags without issue.

A few edges on the hand guard have the black paint scratched off near the upper receiver side, I tried to photograph those closely so there's no surprises to the condition. The pic rail on the upper has silver sharpie from the scope mount, which will be removed before shipping. This also clears the superlative arms gasblock (others have asked this before).

I included a few shot groups with hornady black, and chrono data for both hornady black and hornady match.

Terminus Zeus Vs. ARC Coup De Grâce Bolt Action

Hi Folks. Icelander here.
Im deep down in PRS shooting and have been using Big horn action. (really good action) Had Impact 737r but did't like it.
Are going to have Borden Mountaineer sometime in january 2025 and Terminus Zeus are in my shopping cart.

But now I also see American rifle company Coup De Grâce Bolt Action as a feasible option.
What do you all say about that. Should I get Terminus Zeus or ARC Coup De Grâce Bolt Action.

I would like to have both, but afraid my wife would shorten my lifespan or at least make the rest of my life miserable ;)
(joke) I have a great wife that understands how sick I'm when it comes to guns and gun related stuff ;)

KRG X-Ray Chassis: Initial Review

I had the pleasure of seeing Justin of KRG at SHOT Show 2014. His Whiskey Chassis (WC) has always been one of my favorites. It's well thought out and the machining/construction is top notch. What caught my eye this time around was the new X-Ray chassis which is mostly polymer based.*While it lacks the adjustably of the WC, it makes up for it in price ($549 intro) and weight.

I've managed to get my hands on a pre-producion version, so things may change when the final version comes out, but let's take a look at the chassis.

First let's break down some of the features:
  • Uses the hallmark self-bedding aluminum "backbone" and trigger guard of the WC.
  • Tool-less adjustable cheek rest like the WC.
  • Adjustable length of pull via spacers, not included.
  • Vertically adjustable butt pad via removal and two bolts.
  • Includes bag rider/butthook that can be replaced with included MOE polymer rails.
  • Polymer for-end with spaces for included rails and bipod adapter, but also many available accessories.
  • Accepts AI magazines
My main attraction to this chassis was the weight and price point. I feel like this is *a game changer in the world of stocks. You can now buy a stock that accepts AI mags, is light, and has a generous amount of adjustment for $600. Normally these features would set you back around $1000, so that allows a beginner or someone on a budget more money to spend on a scope or ammo.

I'm currently using a McMillan A3 and like it for its narrow for-end, and traditional appearance with a vertical grip. All similar qualities to the X-Ray. My first step was to see how much lighter if any the A3 was compared to the X-Ray.

The A3 was weighed with the bottom metal and cheek pad. This more closely resembles the X-Ray because all those features are built in and I would need them to shoot. So we are comparing real world application weights and not just the bare minimum.

As you can see, there is a savings of 0.84lbs. Which you can really feel when you hold the rifle offhand.

A side by side comparison of the two. You notice the for end is a bit shorter along with the length of pull, but *they are similar in overall dimensions.

Taking the complete chassis apart shows all the pieces. The buttstock is in two pieces, but I could not get them apart. I'm sure KSG does not recommend this. This is everything that is included in the box along with the accessory rails.

Most of the chassis is polymer while the trigger guard and backbone are aluminum. *The trigger guard has a generous amount of room for aftermarket triggers as well. You can see in the photos below how much room there really is.

Here's a closeup of the backbone for reference as well.
