Bryan Litz’ video was demonstrating how a rifle barrel moves (or perhaps contracts?) by a little bit before the bullet even exits the barrel.

Is the apparent barrel movement:

(1) An artifact due to gases exiting before the bullet



(2) Secondary to the barrel metal behaving in a fluid state during high impulse, with the muzzle contracting rearwards while the areas proximal to the breech and throat are expanding sideways?

I suspect the latter…

During high impulse events, solids may exhibit properties more akin to liquids.









For instance, a bullet cratering on impact resembles the propagation of a water droplet…

I've got a VERY large pair of 15x binos that I'm looking for a way to protect and carry. Mostly for matches but occasionally in the field as well.
The binos are 9" long, with 58/60 mm objective lenses. The length is the problem, everyone's large or extra large seems to be 8" or less. I've looked at general carry front packs as well but they seem to be to big(11"+). Anything out there?

Lot of kids these days have a warped world view. Life isn’t just making tiktok dance videos or whining about Trump in their reddit safe spaces. Hopefully, they learn something going forward in life.

Edit: A lot of kids (especially country side and small towns young men) are embracing Christian conservative values, masculinity, and the nuclear family structure. But a lot of urban kids, especially young women (including small towns) are struggling with pretty much everything. I understand that it’s not their fault but America is one place where efforts do pay off and they need to acknowledge that. I guess the MSM and culture isn’t helping bring this change at all.

So I have owned this rifle since I purchased it new in 1994. I have never fired it because the original forearm could not accommodate a bipod and the available scope mounts placed the optic in a position that was impossible to get proper eye alignment (at least for me). Thought about selling it a number of times but I decided to keep it and figure out a solution to both issues. BT in Switzerland finally solved the scope issue and another company provided a compatible forearm assembly that could accept the ATLAS. I got the parts a week or so ago.

Lots of angst about how it would shoot. I am happy to say that it was a fun day. I threw on a spare SS 3-15 and fired 20 rounds of FGMM 175 grain ammo. It was grouping slightly less than 1 MOA! Next time, I will shoot from prone and dial it in.

Shoots factory 108s at 2630fps and factor my 103s at 2700fps. Handled 75 VMAX were right at 3010fps with TAC 0.2gr off max load. I’d say 200 rounds down the pipe and shoots each of the loads above 1 to 1.1 MOA for 10 shots. 0.5 MOA for 5 shots if that matters
