Something apparently unexplainable happening with my custom hunting rifle

Hi everyone, i am living a very weird situation with the new rifle i recently put togheter. 308 barile in barre, defiance action and manners stock with mini chassis. It was put togheter by a very good smith here in Italy. The rifle shoots very well, it is by far the best rifle I have had in this regard, it prints consistently .3 MOA 5 shot groups at 100 m (110 yards) with three different factory ammo. I didn’t believe it was possibile until i got this jewel. That said, i am struggling. I used to use 250 meters max rifles. They are easy to use: mpbr, point > press the trigger > dead deer. With this rifle i installed a scope capable of longer shots (NX8 4-32x50) and i use the high magjification as a spotting scope for selective hunting. Shots are anyway inside 500 yards (on a small 50 lb roe deer this is already a pretty long distance). That said, what gives me issues is the zero: I went to the shooting range 2 times lately, on the first time groups were forming 1.5 inches above the bullseye at 100 m, exactly as i want. Second trip (no changes in anything but the day) bullets were impacting 2 inches above the bullseye. I thought it was a matter of bipod loading and a little bit more relaxed handling of the rifle during the shot or stuff like this. That said, i adjusted the zero stop 1 click (0.1 MIL, so 1 cm at 100 m) in order to get lower shots (at this point between 1.25 inches and 1.75 inches depending on the hold of the rifle and positional shooting while hunting). I went hunting, killed a nice buck (75 meters from me) and then i took a couple shots to confirm all my zeroing in field conditions. I was expecting impacts max 1.25 inches above the bullseye since i was resting the bipod on a softer surface in comparison to the rubber mat used at the range. Two shots in one hole, as usual for this rifle, but more than 3 inches above the bullseye!

Why is that?
The scope is mounted properly and i rececked everything today, inculding another box test (not firing, only paper), torque values, etc. Everything is perfect. I didn’t accidentally moved the elevation turret.

Something came up to my mind: I used to keep ammo in a cooler room before but we are talking about a few degrees difference and i also zeroed the gun at 250 feet elevation and today i shot at 800 feet more or less. The temperature was also a bit warmer today and i was slightly on a slope
When shooting (a very mild slope so i was shooting from up to down. To me a difference of more than 2 inches at 110 yards is definitely too much. (2 inches talking into account that regulation i did moving 0.1
MIL down the shots before going hunting.

Could just my position behind the rifle on that terrain (very different from the Shooting range Conditions) Impact the POI This Much just because i am now using a bipod? The fact that the groups are still very tiny confuses me..

I should add that during the test in field conditions (after the hunt) the target was in the shade of some threes and i had the sunlight getting almost on my face directly, when i zeroed it was the opposite (i was in a pretty dark room at the range and the target was in full sunlight)

Mexican Senate President Floats a Plan to Annex Part of United States as Illegal Aliens Continue to Cause Mayhem in LA

One of the most powerful leaders in Mexico is floating a plan for his country to seize a large chunk of the United States’ land as the riots in Los Angeles continue to rage.

Senator Gerardo Fernández Noroña, the President of the Mexican Senate, responded to mayhem on Monday by promoting La Reconquista, a radical idea supported by individuals who want the American Southwest returned to Mexico. In his remarks to reporters in Mexico City, he revealed that he once told Trump he supported building and paying for a wall if it included the U.S. territories that were once part of Mexico.

“I was at Trump Tower when President-Elect Donald Trump was days away from taking the oath of office for the first time as President,” said Fernández Noroña. “I said ‘yes, we’ll build the wall, yes, we’ll pay for it, but we’ll do it according to the map of Mexico from 1830.”

Fernández Noroña then held up the 1830 map, which shows the states of California, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and more as part of Mexico.

“If you can see, maybe a third or at least a quarter of the North American territory was part of Mexico until 1846,” he explained. “We were stripped of these territories.”

“We were settled there before the nation now known as the United States,” Fernández Noroña added. “The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo establishes rights for the people who were settled in those territories, which were not respected.”

After blabbering about the American city of Laredo and the Mexican city of Nuevo Laredo, the Mexican Senate President returned to Los Angeles.

“With this geography, how can we talk about liberating Los Angeles and California?” Fernández Noroña asked while holding up another map showing the American Southwest as part of Mexico. “Liberate them from who? The Mexicans who are settled in that place are settled in what has been their homeland.”

“The two names don’t deceive, the most spoken language in Los Angeles is Spanish,” he said with a smirk. “You don’t need to speak English to live in Los Angeles.”
“The United States government has the right to implement whatever immigration measures it deems appropriate, certainly,” Fernández Noroña added. “But they have no right to violate the dignity of migrants. They have no right to separate families.”

These remarks come just two days after Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum egged on the violent protesters and lashing out at the Trump Administration for even trying to lay down the law. During a speech in Mexico City, Sheinbaum hailed the rioters as “good men and women” who just want to support their families.

She also threatened another insurrection when she called for Mexicans in America to mobilize and take action if the U.S. decides to implement a tax on money sent home to Mexico. Remittances make up roughly 4% of Mexico’s gross domestic product.

Perhaps Mexico’s top leaders will change their tune if Trump raises tariffs on their country again and cuts off foreign aid.

HILARIOUS!!

Non comp 22

Wanting to buy a descent 22, for general plinking and to have a cheap training/fundamentals gun. Currently have a savage 93/17 in it use, not very accurate, but going to pillar bed it to see if it helps. But really want a nice bolt 22, all I have right now is a couple 10/22s.

Option 1
Bergara b14r a little heavy, but I'm a big guy, most expensive out the gate. Lot of stock options if I don't like it, find something on the px

Option 2
Bergara bmr-x a little lighter and cheaper, doesn't have an adjustable cheek riser, I'm sure i could put something on it

Option 3
Tikka t1x i would probably throw it on a krg bravo, so it would end up about same price as b14. Not sure what this setup would weigh, I'm sure some one has this setup could tell me, currently leaning in this direction.

SHopping for a 50 BMG rifle. Accuracy expectations for different makes?

Barrett is the biggest name out there in the 50 BMG market, but before I buy a rifle, I want to seek feedback on who makes accurate rifles. I am sure MacBros makes a bad ass rifle, but I am not looking at that price point. So in the price point I am looking for, there's the Barret M99 and M95, the Steyr HS-50, the Bushmaster, and the Armalite. I like the Armalite the least due to it's size and being only a single shot. The M99 comes in second from last because it's a single shot too.

But the real question is the expectation of accuracy from the different makers. I'll be loading my own ammo so I can tailor a load I like, but I don't want to spend several thousand for a rifle with a 2 MOA reputation.

What do y'all think?

Is it Easier to Shoot Sub MOA Further Out?

I've noticed that it seems easier to shoot sub MOA the further out I move the target. Is that normal, why is that? I understand that 1MOA @ 100y is 1 inch and at 300y it's 3 inches, but I don't feel like that should make it 3x easier since it's 3x as far. My expectations were that the difficultly would scale linearly with distance.

I only have access to a range that goes out to 300 yards but I've noticed that I struggle to shoot sub MOA at 100 yards, I normally average about 1-1.25 MOA at 100 yards. However when I move out to 300 yards I consistently shoot well under 1 MOA. On average I tend to shoot around 0.3 - 0.5 MOA at 300. Tonight I somehow shot a 0.16 MOA 3 round group at 300y with gusting winds which absolutely blows my mind. I doubt I'll ever achieve that again.

I'm shooting with Horney ELD-M 6.5 Creedmoor FYI.

300 Norma Magnum - StaBALL HD Powder Experience and Barrel Erosion Concerns

Hi everyone,

I’m currently developing loads for my 300 Norma Magnum using 250gr Hornady A-TIP bullets and Winchester StaBALL HD powder. I’ve attached some data from my recent testing, specifically at 80 grains of StaBALL HD powder, but I’m not achieving the standard deviation (SD) numbers I had hoped for.

Summary of My Data:

• Bullet: Hornady 250gr A-TIP
• Powder: Winchester StaBALL HD
• Charge: 80 grains

• Results: SD higher than desired, inconsistent velocities. Between 12-18.

Given these results, I’m seeking your experiences and recommendations:

1. What powder charges and powders are you finding successful for low SD and consistent velocities with the 300 Norma Magnum, particularly with heavier bullets like the 250gr A-TIP?

2. Has anyone compared StaBALL HD directly with H1000 or N570 in terms of consistency, velocity, and barrel erosion? What were your findings?

3. I’m also concerned about barrel longevity and throat erosion. How has StaBALL HD impacted your barrels compared to known powders like H1000 or N570?

I appreciate your insights, recommendations, and any load specifics you are comfortable sharing.

Thanks in advance!
