Do some of my shooting locally but mostly I go to the west virginia panhandle.

Mainly into precision rifles but pretty eclectic within that umbrella; love varmint rifles as much or more than my more "tactical" rigs. American Rifle Company Kool aid drinker, appreciator of zermatt. I use a mix of German, Austrian, and Japanese glass.

Expected 30-30 Win Performance

What's everyone results and expectations when reloading for 30-30 Winchester?
My setup is: Windows Model 94, Starline 30-30 brass, VV N130, CCI LRP. Barnes 150 TSX (for 30-30).

I'm getting an SD approaching 20 fps. Groups well at 100 yards on an 8 inch ring, which is probably has far as i would take it hunting.

First time loading for this cartridge, so I'm shocked by the high number. I'm considering trying another brass manufacturer.

CZ 10 Round mag Question for CZ 457 feeding into Lilja barrel on 1st round only!

I ordered one off Ebay. With the Eley Match all 10 rounds chambered fine. The 1st round of SK Rifle Match hangs up every time and doesn't go in the chamber. Anyone else have this problem with the 10 round mags using certain ammo brands? Thought, maybe after some use it might clear up after spring break-in. Thanks!

Barrel Swapping from Bergra to R700?

Might be a stupid question, but I’m going to ask it anyway. Currently for “precision” work I’m shooting a B14 HMR. Thing shoots extremely well. Also have a 700 ADL that was the first gun I bought when I turned 18, shot a bunch of deer with the thing, but accuracy is fairly mediocre.

I just crossed the 2000 round mark in the B14, and if it’s possible, I’m half tempted to pull the barrel off it and put it on the 700 and put a new barrel on the B14. Both .308 now, and that’s what I’ll stick with for now.

SOLD Colt MK12 Mod 0 PRI --- $OLD

Colt LE stamped LE6920 lower takeoff, Colt charging handle, USGI M16A2 stock and buffer system, A.R.M.S. rings and wingless swan rear sight, B5 SOPMOD milspec NSN, C marked BCG, PRI upper with 18" Douglas BBL, Colt 20rd mag, Harris bipod with rare KAC mount, ERGO grip.

Has about 700 rounds through it, all in fantastic shape. Paint looks grungy but only because it was stripped halfway for the battle worn vibes. Only con I can think of is that the previous owner boogerd up the KAC bipod mount screw, can be replaced with hardware store bolt or operation parts occasionally gets orders for KAC replacement screw as confirmed by KAC customer services.

2495 shipped for whole setup, located in MT.

Why do people load so hot?

I'm not too new to reloading but only really getting serious into rifle this year. If I were to read the forums, here and elsewhere, it would seem that the method to work up a load is to start in the middle of the data and then work up until your gun starts doing fucked up things to your brass. What's the deal with this advice? It clearly ignores the measured pressure limits, it's likely not going to blow up your gun but it will reduce brass and barrel life and likely reduce your precision. Is it just the natural tendency for monkeys to max things out to the point that they break? Why don't people just go to a larger cartridge if they want to stuff too much powder in? What am I missing?
