Results July 2025 Topstraps Rimfire Challenge

Yay, finally had a nice weekend for a match. Was a bit hot and muggy but no storms or high winds to contend with. It was a good turnout with 37 entries and some really great scores. With the pursuit of the high end ammo and shooter skills getting better I'm gonna have to do a target rack shift I think just to keep it challenging. If Mark Hall had shot one more bonus point bowling pin at 100 yards he'd have been the second competitor to shoot a perfect score at my range. For those that occasionally read my match reports and think that a 22 rimfire is still not accurate at longer distances you really need to attend a match like mine, Rayners, Crum Ridge or Hoo Doo Valley and one of the Long Gong matches to see what is happening in the longrange rimfire World. What took a few years to get a few names up on the ceiling of my shooting shelter for cleaning all 10 targets at 197 yards (10" down to 1") with no misses was done eight (8) times this weekend with probably double that hitting nice (9). That's incredible shooting by anyones standards.

Rob Jackson brought a newly acquired Anschutz Exemplar pistol down and did very well with it for first time at my range and nearly caught Randy Wise with his El Cheapo Savage Striker rimfire pistol that shoots as every bit as good as his own Exemplar Pistol that is never intimidated by any of the high end rifles. Really fun to shoot and watch as they progress thru the racks. Another challenge for those that find hitting little steel targets at longer distances is using peep sights on 4moa circles at each distance. 4moa might sound big but thru a peep sight opening it's a pin prick target that if the light changes slightly the target becomes nearly invisible. ALso, you can't see the wind flags, mirage or floaties to gauge wind hold (wind don't affect peep sights is our saying). It still amazes me by lining up two holes in pieces of steel on a small distant target the groups can easily rival the groups the scoped guys get. You should try it some time, so satisfying to do Old Skool.

I'd like to thank those that came t enjoy the range and drove sometimes a good piece to get here. I enjoy watching everyone shoot from behind my spotting scope and seeing what works and what doesn't and pass that long when I can to help save others from wasting money. Everyone says it's a Rabbit Hole but you don't have to go crazy to be competitive and have fun without selling the farm to get started. Thanks also to those that helped me spot/score and paint targets between relays. I paint after every two shooters so everyone has a pretty clean target to see their hits/misses and can make calculated adjustments, which may sometimes may be wrong or even the wrong direction.

One highlight was seeing a HUGE 12 point buck still in velvet slowly stroll thru the 162/175 target rack area, hadn't seen it before but it was sure a candidate for being a wall hanger. Another was a nice turkey that decided to walk out our about the same location and flop down and spread it's wings out sunning itself, hadn't seen that before here and had to run down in the golfcart to chase it off. Always various squirrels, chipmunks, birds on the racks to add a distraction just as you're squeezing off the trigger. The bonus rack this month was a big steel plate with 17 various shaped targets scattered around on it, the competitor had to draw out little balls with numbers on it that corresponded to a number on the rack. Luck of the Draw was the name and you could get big easy targets or a couple of the tiny little circles. It was only 140 yards this month so it was pretty easy except for the Peep Sight guys, try to pick out an individual little target 140 yards away when even if you can see a dot of white they all seem to blend together. Amazingly all 4 of us Peep Competitors managed to get 2 each.

On to the results, Mark Hall won A class, Tim Humphrey won B class and Cuda Gatten won C class and get a Free Entry next month. Be sure to always check the Freebie Board to see if you have a tag hanging up there. All ties decided by reverse count including the bonus rack.

I looked everywhere but seem to be missing two score sheets. I'm sure there were three competitors from the Art family but can only find one score sheet. No idea where they went, I looked thru all my clip boards and went back down to the range to check and nothing anywhere, even went and dug thru the dumpster where I dumped the trash... NOTHING. Sorry if I lost them or could you have possibly picked them up?

SOLD 6.5 CM CarbonSIX remage

24” 6.5 creed carbon six barrel for sale. It has about 320 rounds through it, and I’ve never liked the way it takes my reloads. I’ve sent it back in once to have the chamber double checked and was told it’s fine, but I’m tired of messing with it. Probably a great option if your shooting spec rounds.

Looking for $200.00 + shipping or FTF in DFW area.

Rifle Scopes Arken Zero Stop, set up for speed drop?

Interested in the Arken optics with zero stop. Sounds like their zero stop design is the same across optics. I like to run speed drop/dial down 1.6 for my specific setup.

Would the Arken zero stop design allow me to set the zero stop 1.6 mil below "0". My Vortex optic only allowed me to dial down 0.5 mil from zero. From the videos I've watched it looks like Arken may allow this but I wanted to know for sure before making a purchase.

Thanks!

Left Hand Sale Hnt26 r700 arca

Huge deal for an hnt26! R700 short action. Original 2 side screw arca forend (they changed to a single screw on each side after the second screw locations were stripping out and really offered nothing to the security of the forend) tape is just there to keep the front titanium action screw from getting lost Cosmetic blem in pictures from cocking piece on a longer then normal bolt throw action. Zero effect on functionality. The carbon grip from mdt is in the garbage since it was the second one that broke from them. I have a magpul k2 I can throw on if you don't have one you are going to put on yourself. Will come in the original box as well.

PRS Rifle Build

Ok I am finally getting to the point I can finish my PRS bolt rifle build. I have an MDT ACC chassis. Using a Terminus Zeus QC action and will probably get a barrel from Josh at patriot Valley Arms. I intend to go to 6mm GT. What should I look for as optimal barrel length? Probably going to go with an M24 barrel profile. Or should I just go with a 24" 6.5 Creedmore barrel until I finish my reloading set up in a few months?

SOLD Trijicon MRO 1x25 Adjustable LED 2.0 MOA Red Dot Sight Full Co-Witness C-2200005

I am selling these actual Trijicon MRO's. NOT clones!! $315 $295 $265 each including shipping (as long as you do not want a Trijicon case).

I am selling several Trijicon MRO's. They are all used but function flawlessly. They all have full co-witness standard Trijicon mounts (approximately 1.5" height). All have been mounted and shot to at least zero, but most were mounted in racks or in safes to be shot once a year. They have had the covers on them since day one so most of the body will be mark free. The cover lenses are scratched from normal exposure. The exposed areas of the housing may have minor surface marks (from being taken in and out of racks or storage or changing battery). No major or deep damage to any housing. All glass is in near perfect condition. I made sure the brightness dials work as well as the elevation and windage adjustments work. I can not determine remaining battery life, but they will be working when shipped.

I also have a few that do not have covers, however they are in great condition as well. I do not like those covers.

$315 $295 $265 for PayPal F&F or Venmo.

IMG_4747.jpg IMG_4749.jpg IMG_4750.jpg IMG_4751.jpg IMG_4752.jpg

These will ship ship for free within a day or two of payment.

I do have some original Trijicon MRO cases, but it may not have a matching serial number. If you want the case, the buyer will have to pay the actual shipping fee.

If you want more than one, a lower price can be negotiated. Message me with offers and number of units requested

KRG bravo paint job DIY

Well I've been getting a lot of PMs asking about how I did the paint job on my Bravo. If figured I'd do a write up and make an easy spot for others to find and reference. I have a few other stocks laying around and would be willing to make a video if need be.

20191019_140750.jpg

I'm happy with how this turned out and it was beyond easy. So here's what I did.

20190914_120021.jpg

Scotch bright green pads
Brake cleaner
Tape for the inlet and anything else I didn't want to hit.
Sponge that I found at ace. Some people say you need a natural something rather sponge but really anything coarse that will hold paint.

I scotch bright everywhere especially on parts where the paint is naturally thinest like corners.

Hang it and blast it off with brake clean.

I mixed some paint just to get it the way I wanted and dabbed it on with a sponge I had cut into a narrow wedge (may 1 1/4" wide) , trying to follow the same angle all the way. I had one where I either got too much paint or pressed too hard and it dripped but it was easy to fix. Lesson learned.

As long as you're happy with how it looks you dont need to worry about multiple coats because the clear coat will add strength..
20190920_120852.jpg

I let sit between coats maybe 25-30 minutes. The paint will go on thicker than it would if you were to spray it on so give it some time.

20190914_133017.jpg

Things to note:

The base is the black stock and not paint. The scotch bright will scuff it up ever so slightly but the clear coat will fill the scuffs and get rid of any chalky color.

The bravo stock takes paint extremely well, testing my pattern on some glossy cardboard was discouraging but the stock was much more forgiving and held the paint much better.

SOLD Seekins ph3 7prc 22” $1650

This is my latest impulse purchase. I got it to hunt with just to try out the caliber but having to have a couple thousand dollars worth of work done to one of our cars so putting this on the chopping block. The rifle has 25 rounds on it And shoot under an inch with everything so far I have swapped out the factory trigger with a trigger tech, special single stage. The rifle also has the length of pull spacer kit. It’s very slick but sadly it is not a necessity. Rifle is being sold as it came from the factory in the factory hard case.

$1700 shipped.
