PVS-4 focus grabby- frustrated

Upon reassembling my PVS-4, the objective focus ring becomes grabby (tight and not smooth) once the internal o-ring becomes compressed.
I noticed a white lubricant when I first received the scope, which I assume was lithium grease, so that is what I reapplied after having cleaned the threads as best I could.
Looking at the manual, silicon grease is mentioned for lubricating the o-rings, but no other lubrication is mentioned for the focus ring threads. Are these supposed to run dry? I'm wondering if the grease is actually causing the problem if those threads are not designed to be lubricated. Thanks for any first-hand advice.

What caused this odd primer strike range brass?

Sorting brass this morning, never seen a primer strike like this.

This was out of an unknown rifle as this is range brass.

Is this out of a hobbed out AR 15 that had years of abuse, causing a hobbed out firing pinhole?

The weird thing is that it’s a perfect oblong circle around the firing pin hole mark.

Does someone knows this a primer that comes that way? Looks like it was from 2018.

Rifle Scopes NF 5-25 or 7-35

Hello all, i have a JP LRP-07 (in 6.5cr if that matters) and i'll be shooting at my local range oftentimes at 100yds, but will be stretching it out to 500-1000 several times a year.

In addition to that, my eyes are getting older and it's getting hard to spot hits on paper with like a 1-8. So i'm looking to get in a bit closer.

Given these variables, would you opt for a 5-25 or a 7-35? I've heard good things about the 4-20 as well, but i rarely see them come up for sale.

Would love to hear experienced opinions about this. Thanks.

Switching between manners stocks

Has anyone switched stocks that have pretty much the same ergonomics and seen a noticeable difference in their performance behind the trigger? I switched from a PRS1 to a TCS for my centerfire comp rifle and for some reason I’m struggling to get the same level of accuracy, now I wondering if it’s just mentality messing with me or something else.

I really noticed a difference yesterday when I was bouncing back and forth between with my other rig that’s still in a PRS1 and the TCS, everything felt very similar but there was just something off just don’t know if it’s mind over matter or actually something different enough to make a difference.

Smarter Than You

As a former corporate finance guy I'm seeing a lot of this already - a big wave is on the horizon...

Dario Amodei — CEO of Anthropic, one of the world's most powerful creators of artificial intelligence — has a blunt, scary warning for the U.S. government and all of us:

  • AI could wipe out half of all entry-level white-collar jobs — and spike unemployment to 10-20% in the next one to five years, Amodei told us in an interview from his San Francisco office.
  • Amodei said AI companies and government need to stop "sugar-coating" what's coming: the possible mass elimination of jobs across technology, finance, law, consulting and other white-collar professions, especially entry-level gigs.

Why it matters: Amodei, 42, who's building the very technology he predicts could reorder society overnight, said he's speaking out in hopes of jarring government and fellow AI companies into preparing — and protecting — the nation.

Few are paying attention. Lawmakers don't get it or don't believe it. CEOs are afraid to talk about it. Many workers won't realize the risks posed by the possible job apocalypse — until after it hits.

  • "Most of them are unaware that this is about to happen," Amodei told us. "It sounds crazy, and people just don't believe it."
The big picture: President Trump has been quiet on the job risks from AI. But Steve Bannon — a top official in Trump's first term, whose "War Room" is one of the most powerful MAGA podcasts — says AI job-killing, which gets virtually no attention now, will be a major issue in the 2028 presidential campaign.

  • "I don't think anyone is taking into consideration how administrative, managerial and tech jobs for people under 30 — entry-level jobs that are so important in your 20s — are going to be eviscerated," Bannon told us.
Amodei — who had just rolled out the latest versions of his own AI, which can code at near-human levels — said the technology holds unimaginable possibilities to unleash mass good and bad at scale:

  • "Cancer is cured, the economy grows at 10% a year, the budget is balanced — and 20% of people don't have jobs." That's one very possible scenario rattling in his mind as AI power expands exponentially.
The backstory: Amodei agreed to go on the record with a deep concern that other leading AI executives have told us privately. Even those who are optimistic AI will unleash unthinkable cures and unimaginable economic growth fear dangerous short-term pain — and a possible job bloodbath during Trump's term.

SOLD CZ 457 MDT ACC Premier Gen II Chassis w/ Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 in Vortex PMR Rings

I’m listing this rifle as a package for sale locally (Danbury, New Hampshire). If a period of time goes by I will be open to negotiating shipping and / or parting out.

This rifle started out as an Area 419 “Package Rifle” (https://www.area419.com/product/cz-457-mtr-fully-loaded/). The Wooden MTR Stock was upgraded to an MDT ACC Premier Gen 2 Chassis. It has their (Area 419) bolt handle and 30 MOA picatinny rail.

Mounted in Vortex PMR 34mm Rings is a Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 with a MRAD EBR-7C reticle. It has been upgraded to Vortex Defender Flip Caps in lieu of the rubber stretch cover and includes the box.

Also included is the OEM CZ Magazine Block and Magazine Release. When upgrading to the MDT ACC Premier Gen 2 Chassis MDT provides an extended version of both to be used with the chassis.

(2) Magazines are included
  • (1) CZ 457 OEM 5 Round Metal Magazine
  • (1) L3I Cz 457 13 Round Billet Magazine
This rifle has 250 rounds of Lapua Center X through it and is no slouch (see photos from target used to zero the scope on 6/14/2024)

I’m left handed and have a couple “right handed” rifles I kept around for training new shooters. There are no issues with this rifle and would make a great turn key setup for NRL22. . .

If you’re in New Hampshire I am the Match Director for NRL22 Shoots hosted at the Pemi Fish and Game Club in Holderness, New Hampshire. I’m willing to let a potential buyer shoot the rifle at a match.

I will also include the Data Book (from the Sig Sauer Sniper Course) and Data Book Cover pictured. Feel free to ask any questions.

$2,200.00 local sale. I’m not looking for any trades at this time.

If I do part the rifle out the optic and rings need to sell first. . .

$1,600.00 CZ 457 as described above*
$600.00 Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 MRAD EBR-7C*
Price is for local sale, shipping not included. If a few weeks go by I will consider shipping for actual cost.

New From Northern NY

Hello everyone. I've been retired from the Army since 2013. I started out at Fort Benning, GA in the summer of 1986, 11B Light Infantry. I served 4 years on active duty, then hung up my boots. I had the privilege of attending a 4 week "Marksmanship Sniper Course" at Fort Campbell, KY in 1987. We were trained on the Vietnam era M21 rifles with the Leatherwood ART 1 scopes. This was my first exposure to long range shooting. I fell in love with the M21 sniper system AND long range marksmanship. After a nearly 7 year break in service, I re-enlisted in the Army and served another 16 years in the Light Infantry, with one tour to Afghanistan. I've been shooting since I was 12 years old. I shot high power rifle competition in the early 2000's for a few years with a match grade Rock River AR15. I shot at the National Matches at Camp Perry in 2005. Due to many factors outside of my control (Army life got real busy after 911), I stopped competing after my trip to Camp Perry. I've been reloading since 1990. I finally bought by first "precision" rifle about 2 months ago, a Savage Axis II Precision in 6.5 Creedmoor. My competition days are over, but I enjoy shooting and reloading as a hobby. I've read a bunch of good threads on this forum and decided to become a member.
