Firearms LPR .338 Reaper w/dies and brass

Here we go…I love this gun but just don't shoot it enough. Lane Precision .338 Reaper (Lapua Improved), Bat action, Proof 28" barrel, Terminator Brake, Manners stock. I have brass and dies that will come with the gun. It shoots well into 1/2" with 300 grain Berger OTM's and Retumbo. I was getting 2920 fps out of it and didn't feel like I was pushing it at all. $3500 shipped to your FFL. Manners doesn't make this color stock anymore, so jump on it quick. Scope not included.

Also included are the dies, 49 .338 Lapua branded cases that need to be formed, and 51 already formed cases. The trigger is a TriggerTech Diamond trigger. Also included a pic of the bottom metal for those interested.

Competition-Ready Rifle Scope for Training & Matches

Hey everyone,

I’m currently training for an upcoming shooting competition and looking to upgrade my optics setup. I’d really appreciate any scope recommendations that have worked well for you in similar scenarios. Here's what I'm looking for:
  • Use case: Primarily for competition and regular training. Focus on medium to long-range precision shooting.
  • Platform: AR-15 with a Picatinny rail
  • Shooting distance: Mostly 100–300 meters, occasionally pushing out to 400m
  • Magnification preference: LPVO (1-6x or 1-8x), preferably FFP for better holdovers
  • Turrets: Prefer finger-adjustable windage/elevation with zero reset
  • Budget: Around $300–$700, but willing to stretch a bit for something truly worth it
  • Optical quality: Needs to have good glass clarity, wide field of view, reliable reticle
  • Other preferences: Lightweight if possible, solid build, shockproof and fog-resistant
  • Brands I'm considering: Vortex Strike Eagle, Primary Arms, Gunnr Odin LPVO — open to others!
If you've used something that performs well in dynamic competition environments or intense range sessions, I'd love to hear about it. Bonus points for pics and mount/red dot combo suggestions too.

Thanks in advance!

Rifle Scopes Interesting observation

My scope and levels never seemed to agree on the Vudoo. Never had trouble hitting targets but it or the level or the rifle was always off.

So, yesterday, I spent a good bit of time with a quality carpentry level getting the chassis, my scope and the scope level all speaking the same language. (my small shop deck was perfectly level, imagine that).

Well I got everything squared away and packaged up for the trip today. When I got the rifle out, lined up on the target, the reticle had a strong left (top) right (bottom) cant. Apparently I can’t get cant right. So, I put the top of the reticle on the top of the berm, and guess what, the after market scope level had shifted way high on the two hour drive from our home to Howard Prince gun range. However, the built in level on the chassis was now reading quite level. And by all appearances,, the scope reticle is now level.

Here is the interesting observation. Despite not changing anything but the cant, the point of aim moved to the right 1.5 mils to the right at 50 yards. It came right back, with the windage adjustment but that almost seemed rather extreme considering how little I actually moved the scope. The bottom rings were not moved and the top rings were only loosen. Interesting.

Not a problem but it sure brings home the point, even the slightest adjustment to the scope mounting, one be especailly sure to get to the sight-in range to check things out.

Problem with bump gauge insert

I recently decided to try making more accurate 556 ammo by sorting brass, measuring shoulder from cases fired in my rifle, using bushing and micrometer dies, etc. Unfortunately, unlike my other Sinclair bump gage inserts, the 556 #23 will not pass over the case mouth of brass from my AR. It works as it should on new or sized brass. I only have the full length bushing die. Did I get the wrong insert? It really does me no good if it doesn’t fit fired cases. I have inserts for 338 Lapua, 308, and 6.5 Grendel and all work on fired brass as they should.
