Probably been asked already but I couldn't find anything.
I reload for 308 using imr4064, 4895 and Varget... 155's, 168's and 175's.
With various load combinations the case necks are sooty after firing and other loads aren't (same brass).
Is this simply a function of pressure where some are sealing better upon firing and are not sooty?

debating on having my sig cross barrel swapped out. Ballistics on the 16” .308 is shit. So why not make it a dual purpose.

I'm loading up 2500 or so rounds for a belt fed 1919, using cloth belts. When I seat the bullet to 2.8" (actually 2.790") I'm still .06" or so short of the cannelure. If anybody can measure a NATO ball/FMJ round for me and tell me the OAL, that would be great.
I may have a mix of pulled/new 308 and 30-06 bullets and I do have a mix of FMJ, API, AP and tracer bullets. This does complicate things, but if I get the OAL for a FMJ, I can go off of the ogive for the others.

I tend to push things till they push back. Lack of cleaning on a Tbac 338 ultra bit in a big way at a gas gun match. Had chunks of carbon fouling action causing malfunctions.

Can has north of 5000 rounds of 6cm 6.5cm and 556. Maybe more

Have a ultrasonic cleaner and the boretech cleaner kit.

I know the 5.5in is supposed to best for recoil mitigation but the 6.5in is close with better sound. If anyone runs a can chap and had a length that worked well for both all ears there too.
