Bartlein barrel from Craddock Precision, 16" 223 Wylde, quick review

I just received a Bartlein barrel from Craddock Precision. It's a 16" 1:7 twist, cut rifled 5R stainless steel mid-length. 750" GB. I don't have a good scale, but I think it's listed at 2.1 pounds.

I'm going to send this barrel off to have it converted by D Wilson to work with my LMT MRP, but I wanted to make sure it shot well first. I mocked it up today, my goodness, what an absolute hammer!

I just wanted to provide a quick review in case anyone is on the fence about spending $700 plus without reading a whole lot of reviews, I am beyond happy with this Barrel.

It's gassed perfectly for my needs, the gas port is around. 074". It also shoots lights out with everything I've tried, and I've done zero load development. I just shot a generic load of 77 SMK, 23.5 grains of IMR 8208 XBR. The first 10 round group I shot after a quick break-in with 20 rounds of cheap M855 was .82", and the first 8 rounds went into the .5"s. I'm not making excuses, but it was damn cold, gusty, and snow was blowing in my face. Velocity was 2,649 FPS with decent extreme spread and SD. I'd imagine as it breaks in I'll pick up some speed and it will be close to 2700.

Going to call this the "Unpopular Opinion" thread and I have some thoughts...

To start this thread off, I find that mayonnaise is by far the most vile of condiments to ever exist. It tastes like paste (aka glue) on a sandwich and has no place in our culture. So many dips & similar products use mayonnaise as a base ingredient and it completely overwhelms the flavor profile because even with all the spices that are thrown in, it still tastes like well spiced "glue".

And for some reason all of the fast food burger joints have incorporated mayo into their products and it's at best a 50/50 shot when you explicitly specify in your order to exclude the mayo that when you open up your bag that damned if you don't have a double helping of mayo on your burger. It's beyond infuriating.

Fight me on this.

Noob Handgun Reloading (Straight Wall Revolver)

Ready to try some handgun loads in the offseason--I've got my rifle rounds pretty well squared away.

Was setting up for 44 Mag according to instructions (Redding Dies). The seating die was "crushing" my brass (luckily I had some hold brass and was practicing with dummy rounds).

Instructions were to screw the die all the way down to get the roll crimp. But after some crushed brass and some "wtf cursing" I ended up backing off the die a good 2 turns--it seems the crimp comes pretty "early" and I had to back the die WAAAAY out (4-5 turns) to get my seating with no crimp. Is this normal? Dillon 550/Redding dies. I know Hornady does this as well but since I dont crimp rifle, I just back the SOB off (and 1 turn is fine) and get the seating right. But 44 mag--different beast.

TLDR, instructions say screw it down for roll crimp, I found I needed to back off 2 turns to get a proper crimp and not crush brass--Dangerous or not?

Thx.

What is a good receiver set to do an AR10 build with?

So I have done a few ar10 builds in the past, 2 using Aero Precision m5 lowers, and 1 using an LMT lower. I have a VSeven Harbinger receiver set that I will be doing a build with later this year in October, but for right now, I want to do a new build and I want to try out a new ar10/lr308 receiver set.

What receiver sets would you recommend? I've looked at SLR, Zev/MegaMaten, NEMO, and Noveske, but I'm open to other suggestions. I wouldn't mind doing another LMT build but I'm looking to work with something new.

Form 1 question...

Hey all,
Have a form 1 question. I've done a few but they were "domestic". SBRing my B&T APC9SD and I am little confused on what was correct to put for the manufacturer. It was manufactured by B&T AG in Thun, Switzerland (laser etched on the upper which is the seralized part) but imported by B&T USA LLC which is roll marked on the barrel which is also serialized but removable so I am leaning towards Brugger and Thomet, Switzerland but maybe it should be both? I am in full on paralysis by analysis so I wanted to ask folks who have done this more than me. Not sure if I should let it ride or nuke the form and start over. Thank you for the help!

R700 R7SAUM

Have a few questions about a project I am working on. Before anyone says to get custom action , I have custom actions but for this I am specifically going old school R700 .
I am doing Mack bros bolt in a trued receiver with a remage style barrel.
Questions:
Would there be any cons to using a stainless receiver? Would it have more difficulty trueing or issues with work hardening? Would lapping lugs be wierd being a harder material on the receiver than the bolt?
What is the point of bolt face truing and is it even necessary?
If I go remage it shouldn’t matter the thickness of the recoil lug, so is there a size that would be best for my 7saum build if it’s not necessary for specific headspace?
Only truing I plan on doing is what’s necessary to fit aftermarket bolt and squaring face and recoil lug up before barrel install, as well as polishing raceways.
Whole thing is getting cerakoted when complete.
Is there anything else I can/should do to make this a nice build?

Timney alpha trigger for large frame glock trigger safety problem

Hi guys,

I install the timney trigger on my Glock 21. The trigger pull is beautiful!

Upon using I notice that the trigger safety even without pressing it will fire .

I left message and email Timney but they never got back to me. I'm just afraid if I accidentally drop the pistol that it might go off. Its been 2 weeks so far nothing from Timney.

Maybe you guys who experience same problem can help find a remedy
