weighting/balancing a KRG W3

I'm putting together a 6br on a Tikka for PRS stuff this year. It's going to sit in a Whiskey 3, Gen 5. Barrel is a 26" MTU (with smaller Tikka shank). Obvoisuly I'll have to wait for the barrelled action to fine tune ballance, but I'm wondering what I should be thinking about in terms of which weights to start with. I'm guessing a heavy flat bag rider, and a heavy arca rail? There are limited spots to put exterior weights on the forend, so the weighted arca seems like the obvious solution. I assume the forend t slot and the weighted arca will just make the whole thing too muzzle heavy?

Bergara Premier action

I have a Bergara Premier barreled action that was original an LRP 2.0 (their older version of their current competition gun) that I shot PRS with for a few years. I decided to buy a whole new gun (MPA PMR) and use the chassis from the Bergara on a 22 build. Now I’m left with a Premier action and barrel and I don’t know what to do with. The barrel still has life left in it, but not a whole lot. I didn’t think I could get through another complete season with it so I decided to retire it. It’s chambered in 6.5CM and I don’t want to keep it laying around as a backup; I’d rather either sell it or repurpose it. Right now I’m leaning towards getting a prefit barrel for it and using it as a hunting gun. It would have to be something in a .308 case as Bergara doesn’t offer different bolt heads.

For prefit barrels I’ve seen options from Oregon Mountain (carbon fiber only), IBI (carbon fiber and steel), Preferd Barrels, and also Outlier from Arken.

Does anyone have any suggestions in favor of or against any of these barrels? Are there any other barrels I should be looking at? Lastly is there anything I should be aware of? This would be my first time removing and installing a barrel but the process doesn’t intimidate me.

How about carbon fiber barrels in general? I’d be wanting to make a lightweight hunting gun so I like the appeal of carbon fiber but don’t want to sacrifice if the cons are not worth it.

Savage 110 trail hunter

I would like to buy a savage 110 trail hunter this summer but I can't seem to find any honest reviews. Any pros and cons would be appreciated, how about some opinions from some of you that have actually owned them and used them. All I seem to be able to find guys talking about the features, nothing about weather they are good or bad so I'm asking you the real shooters: thanks

SOLD Rem700 Barreled Action

Selling a rem700 barreled action chambered in 300wsm. Has 26” 1:10 proof light sendero, NF 20MOA rail, timeny trigger and thicker recoil lug. Action started its life as a .308 but I had the bolt face opened up and m16 extractor put in to accept the magnum case. All work was done by a professional gunsmith. Has roughly 50 rounds on the barrel from load data, built the gun for an elk hunt than didn’t happen. Asking $850 shipped to your FFL. I also have dies and ADG and Norma brass to go along if you’re looking to reload (for an additional price)Open to trades but mainly looking for either an Origin or Solus Action for another build. 1-10 power MIL scopes also welcome for trade.

AR barrel profile suggestions

Tl;dr: I am not an AR guy but want to build a light 6.5 Grendel and need help picking a barrel

Long story:

I do gun runs and PRS. I’m not great at either, usually middle of the pack. I shoot matches because I enjoy them, not because I’m chasing first place.

I’ve gotten myself in an annoying place. Gun run coming up? Gonna shoot my Tavor a bunch. Then PRS or a DMR match is coming, time to switch to my TRG.

I feel like I’m always jumping around and never mastering my rifle. Years ago when I was just shooting a bolt rifle, I felt like I handled unknown distance and ranging a lot better than I do now.

What I want to do is build the lightest functional 6.5 Grendel AR that can do both match styles ok-ish. That way I can just shoot one rifle the whole damn year.

My problem is that I don’t know ARs. Who makes decent barrels and what profile should I use? I don’t want to go so light that it can’t handle a 10-20 round stage. But I don’t want the rifle to be over 10lbs. And in reality it’s usually awhile between rifle stages so it will have some time to cool down.

*edit* Price is somewhat of a factor. I would love to run a carbon fiber barrel but dropping $800 for a barrel alone is too much when I also need glass and all upper parts. I’d like to be around $1k or less for the whole upper (before scope). With savings on the upper used towards the glass.

Rimfire Scope

Hey gents, it’s been a while since I’ve posted on the Hide. Last time was in ‘22 when I purchased a Gen 1 Vudoo. Which brings me to my next point, it’s become clearly obvious that PRS/NRL22 is not me. I’ve reluctantly come to this decision to sell my Vudoo. In doing so, my hope is to find a suitable optic for punching paper and maybe a few varmints with my Ruger 77/22LR. A gun I’m very fond of.

There are three scopes in contention:

Mark5HD: 2-10 or 3-18
Burris XTR II/III : 2-10 or 3-18
Athlon 2.5-15

These are the best options after looking and considering my budget. I’m really intrigued by the 2-10s but would feel a bit limited by power range. The Athlon is on the lower end however it’s been recommended by a friend from the Hide along with the Burris XTRs.

Please help a guy out and give any info I may have missed or left out. I am open to suggestions at the used price of a Mark5 or lower. Thanks.

SOLD NIB Aero Solus 6 creed + alpha brass $1325 shipped

Prices include shipping.
Brand new 26” 6creed Solus in a Black KRG Bravo. Comes with everything from the factory + trigger hanger and I’ll through in 100 primed Alpha 1x fired 6 creed brass with CCI450s. Also have the trigger hanger to throw in.
Dropped to $1325 shipped!
*looking for a nice tripod if you got one for trade value
I actually think these are an awesome value and really has every feature you could want in an action. Nice smooth bolt lift too. Reason I’m selling is I bought 2 ARC CDG’s and just like them slightly more. Really came down to looks.

It was kinda of a tough choice between the CDG and the Solus because the Solus has all the same features as the CDG but if you need a barrel, Solus prefit barrels are cheap, shoot great and easy to find.

I actually have a few prefit barrels available.

2x NIB Aero 20” M24 308 barrels $275 each
1x used 223 26” proof research comp 300rds on it $400 sold

Aero Solus Rifle: $1475 $1325 shipped SOLD
