Using a microprism as a piggyback optic

Hi! I am setting up my first AR. I have pretty bad astigmatism, so red dots starburst and are useless beyond 10 to 15 yards. I have a PA SLx 1x Microprism that performed beautifully on my first range trip. My LPVO has since arrived (thanks UPS for losing the first one), and I was wondering if anyone else has tried mounting a microprism, rather than a red dot.

What mount would you recommend, as I would need its secondary interface to be as low as possible (since the sight is already so much larger than a red dot)?

I suppose I could do a 45-degree offset, but all of what I have seen/heard from guntubers and the like is that piggyback > offset.

Optics USO MST-100 USMC Sniper Scope

I just sold my GAP M40A1 and the buyer didn't want the MST-100 scope that was on it. The scope was part of a USO production run for GAP and Sniper's Paradise and has the special serial number GASP 00. I bought it from the owner of the Sniper's Paradise website and it's been back to USO once to lubricate the turret detents. I have the original box, but no scope rings or mount - they went with the M40A1.

Price is $3250 shipped. Comes with original box and MST objective wrench.

Send me a PM if you have questions.

Firearms Terry Cross KMW competition rifle w/Surgeon Tactical action

After reading an online article in Gunweek, I asked Terry Cross to build a replica of his competition rifle ["Terry's Tactical Two-Sixty AI, King of the Hill in Tactical Comps", Gunweek, September 2005]. I am now offering this rifle for sale with four barrels and three chamberings:

* B-prefix Surgeon Tactical action machined by Preston, built-in 20MOA (I think) Picatinny rail

* Jewel trigger

* Accuracy International AICS (non folding) chassis

* Four KMW 26" Krieger barrels with bead blasted finish (all fab'd by Terry and marked with the serial number of the Surgeon action)
- 243Win (unfired)
- 6XC (unfired)
- Two 6.5mm-08 with 7.5" twist rate (one used, one unfired)

* 88 fire-formed 6.5mm-08 Ackley Improved cases and 12 unformed rounds (total 100 in a plastic ammo case), with "recipe" from Terry

* Redding Reloading Die Set, 6.5mm/08 Ackley Improved 40 deg (unused)

* No optics, rings, or bipod are included (Terry used a Nightforce scope in the day).

Price reduced to: $5500 (was $5700) shipped to your FFL.

I'm selling my Nightforce ATACR scope in as-new condition with NF 1.125" high 34mm rings and tube-mounted scope level for $1800. It has the 0.25MOA MOAR reticle (2nd focal plane) with full illumination, Zerostop, sunshade, and bikini scope cover. It will come in the original NF box with all the manuals. It's been a safe queen for several years and appears as new, with only 88 rounds fired from the KMW rifle it was mounted on.

Please PM me with questions.

22 creedmoor

I know several folks including myself have been playing with the 22 creedmoor for a while now. Please keep this thread to actual reloading information, and if you can please post some round count, barrel life numbers are all over the place.

Here is a brief summary of the cartridge. You need to know that it is a laser beam and varmint vaporizer! The 22 creed feeds awesome out of a aics/aw mags, has increased case capacity, and can toss 80gr pills over 3400fps. Also, you can use youre existing creedmoor die sets with a different bushing and seater or call up whidden and get a custom set. Using 6mm creedmoor brass is the easiest way to make brass, but some have fireformed 22-250 brass into 22creed.

Please follow the format of

bullet/ weight/type
powder
charge weight
primer
velocity
barrel make, twist , length
round count on barrel
any other info, fowling, groups, effects on game or varmints

thanks for the information

Night Vision The Official: Steiner C35 Thermal Clip-on Review and User Thread!

So, Charles / HebrewHammer sent me a Steiner C35 to get my thoughts on it. I haven’t bought one (yet), but with a full LIST price of just $4K for a legit 640px dedicated thermal clip-on with HD display, I’m gonna grab one anyway (be sure to have mercy on a poor ol’ Horta, Mr Hammer).

I’m a big fan of getting the negatives out of the way first, so I’m going to beat the C35 up a little before going into what it does very well, which is what it was designed to do.

First, the C35 is a fricking Brick House! At over 35-ounces with battery installed, it’s the heaviest consumer thermal I own. It’s big and bulky compared to its competitors as well. I don’t own any Yoter/Bering stuff, so I can’t compare with their units.

Second, the battery is a funky 18650 “B”. You can NOT use a standard 18650. It won’t fit. One is included, but you’ll need to get more or — use an external Anker-style USB pack.

The rail mount is a monster and the QD throw lever is a boat paddle.

I’ve looked all over the unit itself, the packaging, and the documentation and I can’t, for the life of me, figure out where this thing is made. Someone help me out here… WHERE IS THIS DAMN THING MADE?!

I figured it was from Chynah and the core was likely iRay, but I’m not so sure. The unit has the funky FLIR Boson color pallettes, so there is a slim chance it may NOT be Chinesium (fingers crossed).

More (good news) to come shortly. Dinner time.

The Razor 1-10x is in a 1.57” Scalarworks mount, so the C35 looks to be designed for a 1.5” optic.

The Testbed — Geissele SOCOM SD, Razor G3 1-10x in Scalarworks, other meaningless trinkets. Will be testing the C35 for POI shift on multiple guns/optics pairs.
