I’ve been wondering this myself my check was cashed in 8 days unfortunately that’s was only a couple days ago I still have a long time lolSo is it just luck of the draw on when your payment is processed? I see several people who have their check cashed a month or 2 after they submitted, but mine was cashed within a week.
That bill ought to get shot down real quick. If it doesn't then some pro-gun Republican should introduce a poison pill amendment which puts the background check into NICS.There is a bill in the house H.R 5103 that raises the transfer to 500$ also the atf uses a public bank to cash the checks. I forgot which one they just switched to recently. US bank I think?

Ah I looked at the wrong date. Was reading the budget proposal for the NFA division for this year and thought it was part of the same article. You talking about this? That was last years Congress, there is no hr5103 in the 116th Congress. Also, 116th Congress is the first session so that bill died in the 115th session. (Bills only get carried for two sessions then they die)![]()

But yes, the recent change of banks is probably the reason why checks are being cashed more slowly than normal.
How long is the wait time on a form 4 to date? Post how long you have been waiting or how long you recently waited before it was completed and sighned.

Signed form 4 Trust Docs 1/3/2018
Submitted to the NFA 1/10/2018
Check Cashed by NFA 1/30/2018
Submitted to FBI 3/30/2018 (really? 60 days to forward to the FBI?)
Contacted NFA on 12/24/2018 about FBI Status
Contacted Congressman 1/3/2019 with correct snail mail forms to expedite FBI approval
Out of FBI (approved) back to NFA 1/15
Assigned to specific NFA person/inspector 2/13/2019 (really? one month to assign to an inspector)
Call/Emails to inspectors supervisor (after 5 voice mails-to inspector that were NOT returned)
Call back AND Email from Inspector on 2/25/2019
Email to Congressman (staff) on 2/28/2019
Approved on 3/3/2019 (yup approved and notified via email by the inspector on a Sunday)
Stamp in hand 3/12/2019
I just got sick and tired of the wait (and my dealer) and basically did a lot of research on how the system 'works'. It will help if you have a NRA 'friendly' congressman. My congressman got over $150,000 from the NRA in the last election...so, his staff really helped!
First you (as the tax payer and consumer ) have some options. Or, you can take the waiting period "as is'. It is up to you. If you would like me to walk thought what you have as options/actions I will be more than happy to supply a long post on how to cut the waiting time by being an informed and very polite active party in this entire process.
From the date I took it upon myself to follow up on my application (12/24/2108) to approval (3/3/2019) even with the shut down was less than 90 days. I have the phone calls, emails and documents to prove you as the individual/consumer, can make the system work a little bit better for you. Can anyone complete the process (start to finish) in 90 days...I think not. But, it will not be 300 days if you take an active roll in the process.
As far as the people working at the NFA, after working 'with' them I really think that on the whole they are well intentioned, That being said, the system (i use the term very loosely) in place is totally broken. No first in/first out, everything done with 'batch systems, and no feed back (unless you know the correct questions to ask).

Just over 1.6 million submissions for 2018. So that's 4,383 a day on average. With 26 examiners that means they have to go through 168 a day each. Granted a margin of error on my math.

Fire up another thread and give us the details please
A detailed stand-alone thread would be a huge contribution to this niche of the community. The whole approval process is obscured in myth and conjecture. Having some documentation and a relavent timeline of how the sausage is made would shine some light on truth behind the myths of stamp approval. If you do a write-up, thank you in advance!Signed form 4 Trust Docs 1/3/2018

Suppressor was sent to his dealer. What do you mean by "disposed?"
I must be missing something. Was the suppressor ordered by the dealer (on behalf of the customer) from a manufacturer or supplier, and paid for in advance by the customer AND form for completed at the point of sale?Suppressor was sent to his dealer.
I must be missing something. Was the suppressor ordered by the dealer (on behalf of the customer) from a manufacturer or supplier, and paid for in advance by the customer AND form for completed at the point of sale?
Then was the check for the tax stamp cashed by ATF on 6/4/18?
Then did the dealer get the suppressor on 7/10/18?
If that's the sequence of events then how did the dealer know what the serial number was? Did the supplier let the dealer know what the serial number was prior to shipment?
Sorry for the confusion.
I'm not sure on his specific situation but disposed by definition from ATF means it shipped to his dealer.I must be missing something. Yes. When a dealer orders a suppressor or is getting one transferred on a form 3 they already know the serial number and can fill out the paperwork for the form 4 to be sent in. I’ve had it done before with no issues.
I'm not sure on his specific situation but disposed by definition from ATF means it shipped to his dealer.
For instance I order an Osprey 45 through silencershop. Once the form 3 was approved from SS to my dealer in Louisiana, the can was disposed to my dealer. My check was then cashed by the ATF.
My Governor wants all NFA and Semi-autos banned. So I'm SOL....
