Rifle Scopes Zero Compromise Optic update

Goddamn. $100 steak in the 90’s?

Gas was $0.79/gallon and I remember seeing a $100 bill was actually a semi rare occurrence. You could eat and drive all week in $100.

.........fuck I’m getting old.

The 90's seem like just the other day. Time...it goes by soo fast. Buy once, cry once...and enjoy what you have and the time you have to spend it.

I have to admit though....even 30 years later or so...and many a steak eaten since then....I don't know if it was the company I was in, the flow of alcohol, the thrill of winning a lot of friggin money that night....but that was the best damn steak I've ever had. The potato was a little meh though.

Can't wait...in a short time from now...I'll be in the ZCO family. Hopefully the best damn scope I'll ever use...even if the aftermarket scope caps turn out to be a little meh.

Years ago, seven of us went to a local casino to play in a big poker tournament. Hours and hours later, here I am at the final table. One of my friends spoke up and laughed. We just spent hours of grinding to get to the final table...and I look around and it looks like our Thursday night game. Of the final nine, seven of us were friends and practically drove together to the tournament. Afterwards, we all cashed out. I came in 2nd and we were all Top 7. We celebrated by going to the steak house

The Waiter asked me what I wanted. I replied with, "What comes with the steak? Baked Potato, Veggies, what?" He said, "Nothing sir. I can add whatever you like." I was like a $100 steak doesn't come with a potato? He said, "Sir, if you can afford a $100 steak, does it really matter that it doesn't come with a potato when you can afford to buy any side you like?" This was in the early 1990's.

So...the ZCO...If you can afford one...and you want one...does it really matter that it doesn't come with a baked potato? You can afford to buy anything to go with it you like...and even a cheesecake for dessert.

Oh, I get it. But I also understand that wealthy people stay wealthy by buying value when it can be had.

Like I said, it's odd to me (kind of like buying a high end TV, and it didn't come with a $15 cable needed to hook it up). But it's certainly not a deal breaker.

Kind of odd that it doesn't come with covers, considering the price. I mean, even the Revic scopes come with covers (which are Tenebrex made, with the Revic logo).

ZCO wanted to come in at a competitive price point since they are new to the market when they actually produce a scope that is overall a value well above its price point. Many competitive shooters take their caps and throw them back in a box so it's an optional accessory. Right now people are buying a ~$4,000 scope at a $400-$500 discount, I say that makes up for the caps IMO.

But that $15 cable is too long for my application and too short for yours. Wouldnt you rather have the price be $15 less so you can buy the correct length cable?
If the price was $75 higher but came with caps, the guy who was planning on bikini covers would be upset they paid for caps that will live in a box.

Well...the difference between a scope and a TV.....I can use my scope all day long from the minute it arrives...without covers....but that TV I thought had a cable....mofo...I'm in the car cussing all the way to BestBuy/Wally World to get a cable....

How about a nice chassis...you get it in...fits your action like butter...and you don't have action screws...now that is a bummer.

but the scope didnt come with rings. so now you are cussing your way to cabelas. Or should they raise the price $200 and include rings?

I'd rather have a lower price vs paying for crap I wont use. I also have a box in my basement full of component cables, shitty keyboards/mice, garbage speakers, and other "freebies" that raised the price of the thing I actually wanted.

Anyone having issues with the ZCO and Spuhr mounts causing binding of the parallax knob?

I had a 6001 that would bind up my parralax knob at less than 15 in/lbs of torque on the rings. I don't have any issues with other mounts (ARC 50 in/lbs and MPA 25 in/lbs).

I sent the Spuhr back and am I'm waiting on one I picked up off a hide member to see if it was the mount or if I'm having scope issues.

Negative, but did have an issue with a theta and spuhr.

I torqued mine to 15 inlb, then 20 with no problems.

I possibly had issues. Didn’t take a ton of time to verify and I swapped to ARC. Zero issues since.

Got mine all mounted up ??

I have not seen that happen, please let us know what your findings are.

No issues with my Spuhr on my 4-20 ZCO either.

I have not had any issues with my Spuhr 6601 and my ZCO.

Anyone have an ETA on the new MPCT3 reticles? Is shipping to the USA going to be delayed?

No binding issues in my 6002 torqued to 23"/lbs.

I'm a little confused because ARC rings cause no problems at all.

Update: Spoke with Jeff for a while and he took the time to go through the build specs on the parallax setup within the scope. It seems to be narrowed down to the mounts causing the issues. Especially considering that the ARC rings and the MPA do not have any issues at torque specs higher than that of the Spuhr.

Why don't you try giving Jeff a call at 208-435-4000, maybe he'll want you to send in those particular Spuhr mounts with the scope to check them on other ZCO's he has on hand. Anything man made can have an issue no matter the cost or who makes it, but you also should consider that those mounts may have an issue as well, it could be the installation and/or your torque wrench/limiter.

What happened to ZCO’s site different language now, still can’t find how to fix it. Will keep trying. All of my ZCO bookmarks are not functioning correctly.
A new website was launched. In the upper right corner is supposed to be a country flag to choose Austria or U.S. Some glitch though that'll get fixed this week so the flags aren't showing up. The button is still there, The U.S. is the second space down. I think you'll see what I mean when you look for it.

@gebhardt02 looking at the instruction manual online. Has three optics in the pic. A 420, a 527 and......is that a 527 with a sunshade or.....something else??

Nice find! Without sharing too many details, all I can say right now is it's a new project. Details to be released later when we are closer to having prototypes for testing. ??

Yes...pegging that “blank” square in the upper right corner brings a drop-down second “blank” box that you hit for the English Language version, works well and I DO like the new site rich with info (including the new MCPT3 reticle now) and engaging graphics...much better imo. ?

Looks like a higher mag scope - just by lengthening the optical path (with appropriate changes to the lensing), you can end up at something like a 35x - and if you keep the erector the same, that essentially gives you a 7-35, using same back half of the scope. Really, that's the big difference between the 420 and 527, too (the erector likely differs a bit between them, one being 5x and the other being 5.4x, but you get the point, I'm sure)
