Vudoo Gun Works V-22 Rimfire Bolt Action

I just got my results back from the Lapua Testing Center. I believe my Rifle has about 3000 rounds through it. I had them test Midas+ and Center-X. The first day they focused mainly on Midas+ with only a little Center-X testing. I asked them about how I thought some Center-X might be doing equally well and they retested with Center-X more thoroughly the 2nd day of testing.

In general they said they found that 20" barrels did better than the 16-18" barrels and my Vudoo performed about the same as the other Vudoos they have tested. I guess nothing to write home about... A 6x5 is very different then doing 10 shots in a row is what I learned. My 10 shot groups at the testing center were a lot larger than I thought they'd be! I ended up ordering 2 cases of the Center-X xx...1282 lots, though the Center-X xx...1733 also performed very close.

I sent in my SK+ and my PMS as well.

I ended up with the Center-X 4_24555501282. It slightly beat out overall the 733.

50m Average MOA 0.7944941995 with a DHH of 5.013333333

They only measure Edge to Edge, I did the conversion to C-C by doing "{value} / 25.4 - 0.221". I also calculated the MOA for 50m and 100, for 50m = "{value}/( 1.093613 * (1.047/2)) "

Ditto... and I received this earlier this month. I've been out-of-state but had opportunity to zero while visiting brother-in law in Colorado. Used 1st 9 rounds to dial in. This 1 inch blue dot caught the next 11 rounds. Only at 25yds but very promising.

That's a SWEET looking rifle! Looks to be a tack-driver also. Congratulations!

Probably a noob question but does Vudoo have a tight chamber? I recently learn that a lot of match chamber is very tight that it requires some force to chamber the round, some ammo won't even chamber, while also making the round not extractable until fire. So does Vudoo have these type of chamber? If so does it affect how smooth the action is?

Good morning Pepelefrog. From listening to Mike Bush's videos, they make the chamber as tight as they can but still allow the extraction of the bullet without pulling the slug out of the case. I think the nose of the bullet is right at the rifling but not jammed into it. My Vudoo will extract bullets with no damage or marks to the nose of the bullet. 4Certain

Thank you. Have anyone try the tighter "match" chamber on their vudoo to see if there's any increase in accuracy? With how accurate the Vudoo is already from what i see so far, i imagine that type of chamber would take it to the next level.

RNailor2 you convinced me. I ordered a rim gauge by Raven Eye Custom at Raveneyecustom.com as you suggested. Will set up my Digital Depth Gauge and see what I come up with. Thank you for your post. While I have shot quite a bit of 22 LR before, it was always much larger targets. Like a Speed Steel Match with pistols and rifles. Beginning to shoot my Vudoo in Tactical PRS type matches changes the requirements. I moved from CCI 40grain Mini Mags to Eley Black Box Match. Now looking at Benchrest as well, it is a really big deal. Thank you for your thoughts. Good info. 4Certain

I have been using this gauge for years now and what it does for me is eliminate fliers. I sort by rim thickness and use the predominant rim thickness and weigh that group. I set that predominant group aside and shoot the rest of the same rim thickness as practice ammo. Having already found the the type of ammo that the barrel likes then doing first sort by rim thickness and then by weight it eliminates all of my fliers and vertical dispersions. I am still working with learning the wind components. After doing what I can with vertical dispersions and calming my mind on that I can focus on wind. To many variables strain my mind and keep me from concentrating on one at a time. I have found the weak link in consistency. It’s me. I believe the weak link in Rimfire shooting is not rifles but shooters and ammo. I think ammo makers are seeing their future is in more consistent ammo. My future is in more trigger time.

Thank you RNailor . So far I measured on box of Eley Black Box Match. Most all were quite close. A few were larger. I few were smaller. I have not been able to test the separated rounds to this point.

The Raven Eye Custom Measuring gauge with a Dial gauge is amazingly easy and quick to use. Very little investment and very easy to use.

I am also curious as to how you see the Weight of the Cartridges sorted by rim size should be utilized. One fellow I shoot with that has shot rimfire Benchrest and a number of other rimfire matches for many, many years. Far more experienced than I am. He suggests that the weight sorting is more critical. I am curious what you think about Weight Sorting and how you see that working with the sorting by Rim Thickness. Usually the more you spend the more rounds you get in the same rim thickness and weight in the same batch. Thus the more of the same rims. I have found that the actual thickness matters less than that you shoot the same rim thickness and weight for consistency. You need to zero your scope for each batch of thickness and weight.

I agree with your friend on the importance of weight over rim thickness. I sort the rim thickness first to narrow down the rounds to weigh as weighing is more tedious. I then save the end result both of rim and weight segregation for matches and train with the same rim thickness but out of the weight group norm.

Really happy how well it has shot the cheap ammo. Still waiting on a longer mag latch to get the billet mags to function properly but the poly mags run great.

I was talking with Greg at Vudoo the other day about how to get my mags to sit correctly in my MPA Comp Chassis. He said the mags need to fit right up against the underside of the action with as little up down slop as the mag catch would allow. Fortunately the MPA Comp has an adjustable mag catch. (I will know more tomorrow when I test it out at our weekly match. )

He also said it was good to put loop velcro patch on the front of the mag well to take up space. I did not have room for the velcro but I did put a slick piece of plastic there with double sided tape. Worked great to help get rid of fore aft movement.

I finally have figured out how to load the mags with less heartburn. I barely slip the next round in and then release the follower so it is pressing up on the round I am loading as I slide it back into place. Helps keep all the rims in order and makes the bullet sit "Proud" with nose up like it is supposed to. Nose down leads to nose dives... We will see how it runs tomorrow in testing before the match and during.

High is what Don over @ BulletCentral said the vudoo needs based off the measurements from the V22 action. Im running the High sear they installed and tuned for my V22.

I finally got the Krieger installed on my V22 this week and got it out to shoot at 50yd. I put 150rd through the barrel, then I pulled a bore snake through it twice before proceeding with the below ammo testing.

Target below was shot from the bench with a bipod and rear bag @ 50yd. It was 93F out, dead calm and 60% humidity. The Kreiger shot really well, shooting better agg than my previous outings with the Benchmark and Green Mountain barrels installed. This lot of SK+ has just hammered in 9 different 22lr barrels with my chamber.

Padom, nice shooting! I think Lapua screwed up and put that lot of SK+ in the wrong boxes. It sure shoots like Midas+. It's good luck that you found such a great lot out of their lower tier ammo. I hope you bought all you could find.

Yea its shot great in so many barrels...i bought a few bricks when lot testing many many months ago. It was gone once I knew how good it was....I havs exactly 1 50rd box left...

I have a picture somewhere, but shoot Greg an email and he can get it to you quickly. The story behind Vudoo Green is, it was an accident that turned out to be a really cool color, so we wrote down how the accident was created and have replicated it quite a lot, hence the birth of Vudoo Green.
