Zermatt TL3 to a muzzle loader (list on #162)

This is a new venture for me so I’ve been busy researching the swing lock etc to figure out exactly what I want because I can’t change the order. I also have the paramount and am figuring out if I want to put money into that or go the custom barrel route.

Same here, still researching the options and accessories listed above. Will be placing a deposit... just may take another couple days to decide what combo to get.

To answer your question, that's the number of primer modules. They use large rifle magnum primers and vary on how long they last depending on powder selection.

After researching all options and taking measurement on my stock I'm going to withdraw from this offering.

Is it possible to get a bare blank on this group buy? I do my own work and will be using a Howa 1500 for the build and if I got a unmachined blank I wouldn't have to send the action. I would like to get in on the group buy to save some money.

Thanks
wade

I found this on the Idaho Fish and Game website.

.

Legality will vary by state.

Neat thing to have even if not legal for restricted seasons.

I am also going to have to withdrawal from the group by after reviewing several states regulations in which I had planned to use this.... Sorry guys.

These barrels will be great for blackhorn 209 also....which is legal is in a majority of the states.

I’m probably out on this. After cost of barrel and accessories and then sights I’m going to be into this much more than I can spend right now. Options for open sights are slim to none unless wanting to have a custom front sight made. Came to this conclusion after talking to Lee Schafer, who makes the custom sights for the Gunwerks Muzzle loader. Looks like we need to have some other companies jump on the bandwagon to produce more products for these modern muzzle loaders. Unless someone has some more info on affordable open sights, both front and rear, I’m out. Sorry guys.

Still trying to figure out if I can get a palin barrel blank on this group buy, I would to do my own barrel installs. I could get a cut-rifled blank for this build but if there are a bunch of guns sporting these barrels there will be a lot of info on loads for these barrels that might not map over that close if I used another blank. I tried to PM @bohem but was told I was not allowed to PM him, he must have a block on his account.
I will gladly pay my deposit if I can clear up one that I can get just the blank and two how much the blank will be.

Thanks
wade

I will sell you a blank alone. The blank is $335 plus shipping.

In the same boat. As much as I would LOVE to buy one of these, Western State rules kinda make it impossible.

Open sight, open breach ect.

Not to stray off topic but these new rifles from CVA seem to hit the mark for those of us with super restricted ML regs. Bergera Barrels too:

Good Luck with the Sale PVA. I'm sure the customers will love the end products!

OK folks. Anyone else that wants to get in I'm going to leave the GB open til tomorrow at 0900 EST and then close it.
I've updated the count with the blank company and with ASG. We aren't anywhere close to the list quantity so I have to see what else can be worked out for the guys that placed deposits with respect to the cost of the parts. Those with the deposits in place, we'll figure something out and I'll reach out to them to finalize details.

For the Canadians following this thread, Tom at GoBigTactical confirmed this morning that he'll be able to import these for us.

Cost will be as per the PVA website, plus any additional import fees and shipping.

If you're interested, I'd email Tom ASAP and get your deposits in ASAP as well.

Deposit sent!

This will be the best bang for your buck if you want to get into a full custom SML. Everyone out there charges way to much for what you get or has a year long wait. All in with two tone cerakote and fluting looks like I’ll be in it for 3500 or so, compare that to a Mcwhorter or Gunwerks ha. Tossing mine is a Manners CS 2.0 so my son can use it and I can swap out the barrel with his 6.5 PRC via the origin.

Really looking forward to some high BC solids to send down range.

If this ever ends up having a northwest legal option I’d be interested!

Quick question @bohem

what powder do you recommend for the solids you’re making? I would like to start looking for it given the current climate for components. If the solids are delayed or won’t be complete before September (early ML in Kansas) what would you recommend for bullet and powder combo with the faster twist LW barrels?

I’m extremely excited for this build. Have a CS 2.0 on order and already scooped up an origin, trigger, BM, rings, and glass.

I use 4198 and the 302 ASG's currently
I plan to use 4198 for the solids amd target a similar weight range

hogdon or IMR or does it matter?

I have a Remington UML which is a 700 action with a ML barrel. Heavy but awesome. MOA accuracy with BH 209 and Parker Productions sabot 275 grain Balistic Extreme out to 300 yards.

The brakes that Arrowhead sells are simply my Shockwave brake with a bigger hole through the middle. So I was planning to just sell my brake without the ASG logo on it.
Thanks. So it will be big enough to put a load through funnel in? Just want to confirm for sure. I have just put an order in for a barrel and brake through tom at GoBig

If the hole is not big enough will you machine out the hole for those of us that want a pass through funnel?

Hey Guys (and Gals?)

I spoke with LW this morning. The barrels can be pulled a little faster than 18tw so I ordered them as 16's to give everyone a little more margin for high BC solids as well as the existing SML bullets on the market. I have shot the 302's from ASG in a 14 twist, they do fine even at 2900fps. So there is no problem that I'm aware of with a faster twist rate within those parameters.

I ordered 32 blanks, so we can put a max of 32 slots in the GB

The price for the breech plugs is $90 for a min quantity of 25 pcs on the Arrowhead LRMP Gen 2 plugs
The price for the modules we got 20% off retail as long as I buy at least 750pc.
If everyone in the GB buys 20-25 modules to go with the barrel that will cover about 600-700 so far. If people want more than 20pcs then I can order more pieces, we just need to know how many because this is a once and done order discount. Please order in quantities of 10pc increments.

Barrel blank, contouring, headspacing the breech plug - $475
Add muzzle threads in 3/4-24 or 11/16-24: $25
Keep, machine and engrave barrel slug for bullet sizing - $45
Breech Plug - $90
Modules - $88 for 20 pcs (I was mistaken in my previous post, they had to go up 3 bucks per 20 pack) and additional 10 pc bags are $44
PVA Jetblast or Shockwave brake (Black Nitride Only): $100 or $115 respectively
Cerakote barrel alone (Black, FDE, OD Green) - $100
Cerakote brake with barrel - add $25
Shipping CONUS - $30

Barrels can be finished up to 27" long while including the 2" long "swaging slug" for a Swing Lock die.
Barrels can be finished up to 29" without a swing lock slug
Finish lengths will be offered as follows

23, 25, 27, 29

Contouring will be MP, MM or HP with the modification on a 5.5" shank length at 1.25" round shanks.

Jetblasts are available at 11/16-24
Shockwaves are available at 3/4-24

I suggest the Shockwave for max recoil reduction.

Actions available are for the ones that folks have listed interested in on @Matt_KJ 's list plus some Curtis ones.

If someone wants to do it on a 700 or a Savage action we'll do it as a custom outside of the group buy and we'll need your action. I cannot handle a group buy with actions coming in and out as well. ETA: @Mech Eng I know I promised you earlier that we'd do your Mack Bros if you sent it it. I'll still do that for you since I already agreed to it. I don't want to complicate things by doing more of them though. Sorry folks.

We will not be taking order changes. So please make sure you order what you want, we're going to process these as fast as possible when the blanks arrive and mixups happen much more often when orders are changed. Deposits cover the cost of the parts ordered. Cancellations are a lost deposit. These are all being custom ordered and parts are being ordered based on the orders placed. We are ordering modules and other small parts immediately based on orders placed.

There have been a few guys lately who placed barreled action orders and then 3 weeks cancelled due to "Covid" related reasons. I get it, but please understand this isn't Amazon. Deposits are $400, balance is due when the work is completed per the terms on the website. Again, cancellations mean you're going to get a box of parts based on the above pricing. If we've started cutting you will owe us for the labor put into the order already.

The currently estimated delivery for the blanks is mid to late February and it will take about a month or so for machine work to be completed, about 3-4 more weeks for all the painting and lasering to be done. Figure orders placed now will be shipped out of here around mid to late April. If something needs to change due to parts availability we will update in this thread on Sniper's Hide. The gun industry is absolutely crazy right now, we will do our best to inform everyone how things are going.

Here is the link for deposits.

Would you be able to explain this? Keep, machine and engrave barrel slug for bullet sizing - $45

I send an email to pva I’d say 2-3 weeks ago and no response at all and Tom at go big tactical is wanting my deposit but he wants me to sign off on eveehthing so he can order it and neither of us know what this is

I believe its a chunk of the excess barrel from when it gets cut to length. Then you can send it in to swing lock to get a full form bullet sizing die made from it. This shapes the bullets to your rifling when you size them.

Somebody can correct me if I have this wrong. Kind of came up with this conclusion on my own research.

The 1” piece of barrel needed to make a SwingLock bullet sizing die is called a barrel drop.

The drop is slightly longer for the swinglock, and it needs to be machined perpendicular and each end deburred like a crown. It also needs to be traveled with the barrel, it cannot be mixed up with anything we need to ID it and track it.

Hence the cost addition.

Sorry this is extremely out of my realm but love the idea so pardon me for my ignorance. So basically it’s the part of the barrel being cut off, then turned into something to size the bullets for the barrel?
