Vudoo V-22S Single Shot BR/F-Class Action

Good morning Vudoo Friends.
Well, I loved my RBLP V22S so much that I wanted a repeater in that set up. I love being able to look into the chamber without having to stand on my head to do so. I like being able to see when mags are empty... Ordered Mid-June and it arrived Yesterday. Not shot yet... Hopefully tomorrow morning... But it looks great. I got it set up in an MPA BA Comp Chassis. 20" Bartlein Barrel. Trigger Tech 2 Stage Diamond. I ran a mag full of Eley Match and it put them in and out nicely. I was going to wait till I shot it to post, but had to take my wife to Carti this am so I missed this shooting day... maybe tomorrow or next Wednesday...
Attached are some pics for your enjoyment...
Shoot straight and enjoy the ride.

is there a beeding in the MPA BA chassis ?

Good afternoon Riberac.
Not bedded in the classic sense. But the Chassis Interface with the Lug, the Lug Lock and Recoil system has worked quite well for me in both my Repeaters and my Single Shot.
All the best.
4Certain

See the instructions from their website:
  • Make sure the recoil lug clears the round cylinder that is part of the lug lock system. Check out this video to better understand the lug lock.
  • MPA Chassis now use a Wedge Lock Action screw system. This system utilizes 2 washers with each action screw. The washers should be installed with the small serrations facing away from each other (towards the fastener head and chassis).
  • Using a 3/16 hex wrench, place the short action screw and washers onto the hex wrench and prepare to insert into the front action screw hole in the chassis.
  • Place your hand over the top of the barreled action and chassis to hold secure while you insert the Short Front action screw into the chassis, allowing the screw to engage the threads in the action. Just get the screw started, but do not tighten.
  • Using the same 3/16 hex wrench, install the Long action screw into the Rear action screw hole in the chassis and get the threads started, but do not tighten.
  • While still holding the chassis and barreled action, turn the assembly up so the rifle is sitting on the buttstock. This puts all the weight of the barreled action on to the recoil lug in the slot in the chassis.
  • Using the same 3/16 hex wrench, snug up the front action screw, then the rear one. Do not over tighten these action screws.
  • Using an inch lb torque wrench, torque the front action screw to 25 inch lbs or just past hand tight. Then do the same for the rear screw.
  • Then go back to the front action screw and torque to the final spec of 65 inch lbs. Then return to the rear and do the same.
  • It is very important that you always start with the front action screw, then the rear, in that order.
  • Once both front and rear screw are tightened to 65 inch lbs check wedge lock impression by listening for the audible pop and feeling the fastener break free. See full video for details. .

I would have to agree with you 4Certain, the RBLP is the way to go! I ordered mine early June and got it last week. What a great Christmas present to myself! I've taken it to the range a couple of times and it functions and shoots awesome! Mine is set up for NRL and (with a quick scope change) should work great as a backup and or loner F-class rifle. This gun has a 24" Shilen barrel in a heavy palma contour, 40 MOA base, ZC 5-27, Manners PRST1 stock and a Bix'n Andy competition trigger. This is my 4th Vudoo and they have all been hammers!!

Good morning Shane.
A very beautiful Rifle Indeed! Sweet!
I shot mine this am. Trying out different ammo. As per normal it seems to like Eley Match Black Box the best...
It ran fine. Shucked the bullets in and out flawlessly. My first Gen 1 had a struggle. This one is perfect... (I also have learned quite a bit about how to set mags up for the Eley... so that helped some...)

Not only is the 3-60 smooth. But being able to see into the ejection port is so nice. I have two other repeaters. My first one and a second more set up for silhouette, with a light Grayboe Stock and Tapered barrel... Amazingly it shoots almost as good as the heavy barrels...
But I much prefer the RBLP.

Glad you were able to get yours... Where did you get the idea for using the RBLP set up on a Repeater?
All the best.

4Certain,

I've been shooting/competing (F-class) with my Vudoo Single-shot for over a year now. It's one of the early one's - Ser# 00006. It has RBLP and it is such a pleasure to shoot, I thought why not ask if a RBLP repeater would be possible. I think we are very lucky to have a company like Vudoo that's willing to innovate and provide such great products.

My other two Vudoos are both 90 degree gen 1 repeaters also, and they still shoot great!!

Thanks Shane.
I was right behind you. Received my Single Shot V22S in December last year. SN - 10014. It is a wonderful rifle. I also have one Gen 1 with a 1.2 bolt and a Gen 2. You are absolutely correct. Vudoo is a marvelous company with great equipment. It is great to add the RBLP 3-60 Repeater to the mix.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Good afternoon Vudoo lovers.
I was able to shoot a bit this morning. The bench was a wobbly wooden bench. Not nearly as stable as our Concrete Benches at our club.
But it was enough to learn more about my new 3-60 RBLP Repeater. All Groups at 50 yards. The inner dark ring on the targets is 1/2" out/out.
First Target is an odd box of Eley Black Box. 12 Shot Group.
The second target, all 5 shot groups, was shooting Eley Black Box. Then Eley 10x. Then two groups of Lapua Midas+, Then five targets shooting the Eley Match Black Box weight sorted to 51.06-.08. The final group was wonderful! Hope that is my 'normal'! Ha!!

Good morning vudoo friends

I wish you a happy new year 2022, good health for your families and many little VUDOO V22 and V22S.
For me mine is in the process of being varnished on the stock and should be available for the tests at the stand mid-January.
Sincerely
Jacques

Do you have the right to mount a tuner? because I see that the last gouging could be made up and be more circular.

Time for my first range report, the gun shoots great , the shooter has issues, more on that later. I’m so happy 4certain recommended left bolt right eject , what an improvement in loading over my repeater which is left bolt left eject. Wish that had been available from Anshutz in the 50’ and 60’s when I was shooting three position . Everything about the Vudoo single shot is great, and the Kales scope outstanding for old eyes.
the gun shoots bot Eley and Center X well however Eley is much tighter chambering and I had one fail to fire with Eley black box. Good firing pin impression on the case rim just no ignition .
now the shooter. The gun produces very good groups at 100 yd even with a swirling wind but the significant arthritis in my hands with resulting lack of feel is causing not to always secure the butt in my shoulder pocket and thus the butt slides left at ignition and the groups are at 3 o’clock consistently …… working on a correction , well actually pressuring my doctor for some relief for my swollen and painful hands …… bottom line don’t get old as aging sucks. All in all could not be happier with either Vudoo or the work done by Hill Country Rifles New Braunfels Texas

Happy NEw Year to all !!
I went the same route as 4 Certain.
I like my V22S so much that I ordered a V360 repeater ( in a Foundation stock ).
I will publish pics of both rifles when the repeater gets here which should be in about 1 or 2 weeks.
Cheers

I was hoping to get some suggestions to over come the issue I have with the muzzle moving left at ignition . Three position and metallic silhouette are what i did most of my shooting life bench rest is a new adventure started late in life to allow me to continue shooting with life’s issues such s spine damage and arthritis

F4 plt, what rest setup are you using? That might help us understand what your issue is. For a true benchrest shooter, you don't really touch the rifle other than the slight touch on the trigger to fire the round. So you might want to try to stay off the rifle, no shoulder, etc, and shoot free-recoil. I use a one piece rest (PQP Lite rest from Killough Shooting Sports) which assures alignment from the front to the rear when I shoot. All I need do is push the rifle back up to the front stop, and my point of aim is right where it was before the shot. If you're using a two piece rest, again, try shooting and don't touch the rifle other than the trigger to fire the round. A rear bag can cause what you are seeing if you are putting pressure with your shoulder on the stock. Just a suggestion to try out.

Good luck!

Good morning F4.
I cannot tell you want is happening with your set up. But I can tell you want I experienced. When I was using a very stable but fixed front rest and a fixed rear bag, there were numerous times I saw my point of impact move left, at ignition. I would have the rifle aimed well. Trigger the shot and Boink, off to one side. Seemed Crazy to me. I was not touching the rifle in any way. I was using the pinch method to fire the trigger with just my thumb behind the trigger guard. That was not affecting my shot. I watched that very carefully.

What I ended up feeling was there was a very small amount of Binding or Torque between the rests and the gun due to panning the rest from target to target. I initially solved that by pulling my rifle Fore and Aft on the bags several times with my fingers on the trigger guard before each shot. I would slide the rifle Fore and Aft and readjust the aim point until when I slid it fore-aft the point of aim stayed at the correct spot. This worked pretty well and solved most of the weird left shots.

Once I changed my Front Rest to the T-Rex Rodzilla, the issue became much less because that rest has a Very Smooth rotating top rest for the rifle. I also put my rear bag on a Lazy Susan. That way neither the rear bag nor the front rest would bind on the gun. I still slide my rifle fore-aft to aid in everything being in sync. But it happens so much more quickly and easily. I even wonder if it is necessary with the T-Rex rest and rotating rear bag.

Let me know what you discover.
All the best.

Thanks for the comments, I use a Randolph front rest and a rear bag. Think the rear bag may be the issue. I make sure I return the rifle to battery in the front rest but the rear bag does not feel solid. I like to keep light cheek pressure on the stock and with arthritis in my trigger hand I don’t always feel I have anchored the rifle butt in my shoulder pocket, that combined with the rear bag may be the issue. I’ll work on it and hopefully take some videos. I’m not planning to get serious in bench rest it’s just my competitive spirit that pushes me to be the best I can. Health issues with my wife limit my shooting but it is great therapy for me . Again thanks for the comments

You don't need to be a serious benchrest shooter to want to do the best you can, that's for sure! One additional thought for you to try: If you can shoot one of the bulls on your target, and you are very close to the center of the bull, then move down (not left or right) to the next bull, and shoot it. If the issue is binding from the rear bag, if you shoot vertical bulls, then it should not happen, because you're not moving the front of the rifle left or right on the rest which might bind on the rear rest. Shooting a vertical set of bulls will keep the rear bag at whatever position it is when you shoot the top bull in the column. So if the top bull looks good (the shots don't shift off to the left or right), the rest in the column should also look good. Then try to shift to the left or right columns, and see if the groups move to the left or right of the bull. If so, then check for binding on the rear bag as you are lining up the shot after moving left or right from your point of aim.

Again, just a thought to help diagnose where to adjust your technique.

Good luck!

You could try placing a USED dryer sheet under the forearm in the front rest, and under the stock on the rear bag and see if that reduces the binding you may be having. The dryer sheet will allow the gun to slide a bit more freely when fired. IF the Randolph rest has ears with adjustable tension, you may need to "piddle" with those settings as well to get the rifle to track better.

You may need to add some filler material to the rear bag since you state "it does not feel solid". Does the rear bag have a solid bottom or soft bottom???

Bonne chance!
Hello Rimfireshooter99,

As an actor in a French TV series would say "but it's good on", it's a solution that effectively limits the contact efforts on the same axis by pulling on the vertical bulls instead of sweeping horizontally.

However, be careful with the trigger pinch shot, the tests show that the grouping is dispersed, in free we only touch the trigger tail.

Make sure rear bag has hard bottom and heavy sand. I tried finger pinch with left hand, pulled left. Back to right now with lighter trigger and don't wrap thumb around stock, have it floating above finger. I just started 1 1/2 yrs.ago and no one from club gave any information away. Really got into it last year with an Annie 64. Last Aug. I order Vudoo single shot- left port, right bolt. Again its just to better myself, it gives me something to do etc., order scopes, barrels (CZ457). Its really addictive !!! Plus I won 5 -200 yd matches last year.

Well the new ROTEX unlimited stock made it to the door. It’s 6 degrees and windy so all I can do is get it all tricked out. Randy did an excellent job and I couldn’t be happier.

Eastern Ohio. Local weather said it was down to 4 this morning
We have the same crap going on here in the Western suburbs of Chicago. I found an INDOOR 50yd range close by. It's not the greatest but it'll do...

Gat Guns is a nice, clean place now that they redid it, however it will not fit my rig. I need at least 3' to accommodate my front rest and rear bag. The range I'm talking about is "On Target" in Crystal Lake. They have a 50yd range with enough room for me to set up and be comfortable. I've attached a pic. What do you think?

DRACO, that's a really nice looking bench! Looks substantial enough to be pretty stable too - bet it's too heavy to pick up and toss in the back of a pickup truck... The old portable bench I built for myself a dozen or more years ago is pretty flimsy in comparison - used 3/4" steel square tubing for the frame, and only 3/4" plywood for the top. It's pretty easy to load in the truck, but there are many times that I've wanted to build something like the Colorado Rifle Club's benches for 1000yd BR, with nice smooth, 3" or 4" thick concrete tops & beveled edges, set on 3" upset tubing legs that were poured in place on their concrete firing line - or at least, that's how I remember it, and it's been about 12 years since I've shot there. Their club either paid a pretty penny to have a contractor build all 20 of them, or they had a really good turn-out of club members to get the job done.

Looks pretty good to me. I use a one-piece rest and lay the rest on the center spine on the 16 inch wide shooting station. At On Target, did you bring the plywood and the mat or did they have those on the bench for shooters to use? I'll have to check it out. I have a mid-barrel tuner coming next week, so I might have to make a trip there to test the tuner, see if I can find a sweet spot, plus check out the range.

Thanks for the info!

This is a request for anyone with information about indoor, 50 yard ranges in Wisconsin. If you know of one, please send me a PM or respond here with the name/location. A friend of mine is looking for a place to hold ARA matches indoors during the winter months.

Thanks for any help you can provide...

What you see is what you get! I was really surprised! The mat and plywood are theirs. There's one issue: The plywood bench is supported on either side with what looks like furring strips or 1x2's. No problem there. That's sturdy enough. The issue comes in if your rig is HEAVY. My rest, rifle and rear bag weigh quite a bit. Enough to "sag" the plywood when resting your elbows on it. What it needs is two pieces of the "fine 1/2" layered Russian plywood" glued together making 1" and cut to fit. One could even cut a handle in it for easy transport. I'm thinking of suggesting it to them. The Russian plywood was my friend Drew Certain's idea. I've never seen the stuff but he tells me it's stout stuff!

Can someone post a picture of the Vudoo soft gun case with a rifle inside? Thank you.

I start to adjust my V22S, first observations:
-the extraction of the casings is very bad, they remain in the loading trough after being taken out of the chamber, I am obliged to take them out with my finger which in competition can be penalizing in view of the authorized time.
- with LAPUA ammunition perfect percution
- with ELEY systematic incident of percussion !

the ammunition not struck is not extracted by the extractors !
