Re: Which caliber for first long range rifle? Remington/Savage in .223 with heavy barrel/fast twist. Since you already have an AR15, you can also get into reloaded the .223 a lot cheaper than other calibers and also have the equipment needed when you upgrade/switch over to longer range...
