Re: Neck Sizing Die...Redding or Lee Collet? Lee CD's work well until the brass work hardens. The necks of your brass will work harden first and you won't get feedback from the use of the CD and that will let you know they need to be annealed. I use Redding body dies to bump the shoulders...
Re: 6.5x55 swede w/139gr scenars??? I have had good luck with IMR 4350 and 140gr Amax's. Sub .5moa starting @ 44grs. with WLR primers and Lapua brass jammed in 1~8" krieger 5R. I had bad luck with the 4831sc so far and intend to try the H4350 with the same bullet.
Re: weaver 16x on a 308 ? I have a 30 year old T-10 steel tubed Weaver that was a first generation silhouette scope that's still going strong and tracks with the best of them. Weaver was one of the first U.S. makers to stress repeatable adjustment.
Re: Mueller Tac II or Weaver Tactical Grand slam? The last mueller I handled proved to be junk before I touched the turrets. Weaver keeps heading in the right direction since being acquired by ATK.
Re: Load testing for F T/R? Chronos are nice and I use mine religiously but they aren't a substitute for down range vertical results. You can get a lot done at 100 yds. Don't get talked out of the value shooting at that range. Find a load that will deliver .5 moa or better and then worry...
Re: South Carolina SC has more military bases than it should. Ft Jackson has a completely anti privately owned weapon policy and hasn't cooperated with NRA shooters in years. The National Guard recently built a KD range of 300 yds on the base. AD, retirees and DOD employees haven't had access...
Re: S.H.O.T. Show 2012 Optics Update by SWFA, Inc. Seems that there is incredibly little information on new offerings coming out of the SHOT show in optics or any other category. From the consumers pov it's about new product. From the retailers that the show is for it's about retailing. What...
Re: talk to me about about weaver tactical . ATK owns Weaver along with CCI,Speer,Federal Cartridge,RCBS and Alliant Powder. They also own a plethora of defense contracting companies.
Re: talk to me about about weaver tactical . Weaver is going to have a problem passing the snob/gearhead test. Doesn't really matter how good the product is if you don't cultivate a cult following.
Re: Kahles Optics at SHOT SHOW 2012 !!!! I'm glad to see they are still around. Going back 25 yrs, Swaro did everything they could to kill them off in the U.S. Kahles was quality product back then at a bargain price compared to the other European offerings.
Re: Scope LOS / bore separation geometry Watching a program last night recreating a shooter engaging targets well past 1000m with a Barret 50bmg and started wondering if the military has a specific scope designed just for it.
Re: Scope LOS / bore separation geometry My question came about by comparing ballistic charts where the only variable changed was the height of the scope. Trajectories and required adjustments are large between 1.5 and 3 inch sight height zeroed at 100yds and projected to 500yds and beyond.
Re: Scope LOS / bore separation geometry what I mean is a scope with a line of sight that is 1.5" above the bore axis requires more adjustment than one 2.75" above the bore axis. Each click or multiples of,on each will have a different result, won't they?
My bolt gun's scope los is typically 1.5" above the bore while the scope's los on my FN-Fal is 2.75". The geometry for elevations is different for the two. Do any scope makers take this into consideration by offering scopes configured more appropriately for one or the other? I have tried to...
