    Range Report 180 Berger velocity

Re: 180 Berger velocity I think the main thing with this caliber is the insane wind bucking capabilities and raw energy. We hunt a lot of big country with windy canyons. Wind is the killer. I have a 338rum that's a great longrange build, but it's too heavy for much mountain packing. I shot...

Trying to decide on GAP possibilities

Re: Trying to decide on GAP possibilities I'm kind of in the same boat. I've got the new hunting gun itch pretty bad and have it narrowed down to gap 7mm wsm nontypical or having a local smith build me a 7mm tejas. You can't go wrong with the gap for sure. I love my 260 crusader-most...

    Range Report 180 Berger velocity

Re: 180 Berger velocity It's a 7mm tejas. Longrange hunting rig. From what I can gather it's an improved 7mm rum. My buddy shoots one and hasn't had any problems. His hunting load is just over 3300. Just wanted to check to see if anyone else has experience driving them that fast. On paper...

    Range Report 180 Berger velocity

How fast can a 7mm 180gr beger vld be pushed before coming apart in flight? I'm looking at pushing one 3300-3500 fps.

    OAL's for a .260?

Re: OAL's for a .260? Just loaded up 120rds tonight at 2.810 with 142smks over 44.8gr of rl22. I load the 140 bergers right at 2.8. Shoots great. You should be fine.

    260 Rem Lapua Brass

I hear rumor that lapua may start to offer 260 Remington brass. Fact or fiction? That'd be pretty cool.

Range Report 6.5 140/142gr bullet question

Re: 6.5 140/142gr bullet question That's good to know. It'd be a lightweight hunting rig, and I want to get as much distance out of it as possible.

Range Report 6.5 140/142gr bullet question

I currently own a 260 and 6.5x284 with 1/8 twist. I shoot the 142smks or 140 bergers. I've found a used 260 I'm thinking abut buying with a 1/9 twist. Do you think the 1/9 will work ok with the 140/142gr bullets. I generally shoot around 6,000' elevation. I believe the barrel is 22" long...

    New Savage models

Re: New Savage models The full catalog is online now. Savage has done a great job the last few years keeping tabs on the market. And they build super accurate factory guns. It equals a lot of success and they're eating up a ton of market share.

.300 r.u.m. budget build. best combo for your buck

Re: .300 r.u.m. budget build. best combo for your buck What are you using the gun for? I've owned 2 300rums, looking to build another, and currently own a 338rum. I'll agree with others though, if you're not hunting with it or doing much shooting over 1000. There are a lot better choices out...

    338RUM Brass

Does anybody have s good source for 338 Remington ultra mag brass? It's sounds like a lot if the bigger stores have had it on backorder for over a year now. Is there anything better than the Remington brass out there? Or a fairly simple way to make it out of a better quality brass like nosler...

    Gunsmithing Savage Accutrigger Question

On average what's the lowest you guys are getting accutriggers down too on their hunting rifles. I can't get mine much under 4# and I'd like to get it down to 2.5#. It breaks nice, but I'm dissapointed that I can't it lower. Any suggestions?

Range Report decided on .260...what bullet?

Re: decided on .260...what bullet? 44.8 gr of rl22 works for the bergers and sierras out of my 260.

A good choice somewhere between .223 and .308

Re: A good choice somewhere between .223 and .308 Another 260 vote. The nosler brass is expensive but great stuff. It's really not hard to find brass. Google it and away you go. Buy 100 cases and you're set for a lot of shooting! I've also reloaded some of the Remington brass and it's not bad...

    Range Report 260 vs 6.5x284

First off let me say that I own both a 260 and a 6.5x284. Just wanted to hear your thoughts on why one is better than the other. I'm partial to the 260. The 6.5 offers better velocity but not by much and has a much shorter barrel life in general. The ability to by lapua brass in 6.5 is nice...

Range Report decided on .260...what bullet?

Re: decided on .260...what bullet? I've had great success with both the 142 Sierra matchking and the 140 bergers out of a 23" bartlien with a 1/8.5 over rl22.

    Manners GAT Owners Question

Re: Manners GAT Owners Question Thanks. I just ordered a 50" cleaning rod. That should be long enough to keep the handle from rubbing on the stock. My old proshot rod has a very rough handle. I see the new ones have a new smoother handle. I imagine more than a few guys scratched the crap...

    Manners GAT Owners Question

So, I'm the proud new owner of a 338rum in a manners GAT stock. It has a 28" Lija barrel on it. I went to clean it tonight. I use a proshot boreguide and rod. I can't run a rod through it due to how high the stock is. It'll go in but I'm afraid of marking up the stock. What do you guys use? I...
