Pricing is almost identical. Intended use: F-open. Difficult choice. Do you guys have experience with both and could help me out? I plan left port right bolt righ ejection, 1.25. 28" tube.
I never tried 223 on roe deer. This time I am going to try 77gr SMK and 75gr norma out of 20" AR barrel. Distance up to 150m. Usually I was running 140gr elite hunter with 43 gr VVN555 powder in 6.5CM. I plan to use N140 on the hotter side, but stil unsure whether 77gr bullet would do the job.
I would like to go beyond discussion on muzzle deflection and weight/length ratio. Well respected gunsmiths (like A.Wheeler) as well as top f-class shooters say that balance is crucial for the rifle to properly slide in the rest and rear bag. I find it difficul to balance a competition rifle...
My shooting practice evolved in recent years from F-class to 100-300m benchrest. I currently run 6BR 27" 1-8 Krieger. I am thinking all the time about what Dan Lilja posted on his website: https://riflebarrels.com/a-look-at-the-rigidity-of-benchrest-barrels/ Considering increase of velocity...
Many local clubs in continental Europe organize "sniper" matches. There has to be always the word "sniper" in the name of the match (sniper challenge, sniper marathon, you name it). In many cases they specify in the rules that you cannot use any rear bag while shooting prone. I never served in...
The topic is well known. Oryx is a great chassis for the money. However, if you switch from PRS to F-class, it's nice to have a buttstock with a bag rider. I use a SEB rear bag and oryx just does not fit in. I am thinking about buidling a bag rider based on steel LOP spacer and a 20 diameter...
I bought last box of Bergers I could find near me. I didn't shot 120gr BT Targets so far. What is your experience in tuning those? I have only one box of those, so not very wide margin for experimenting. My plan is to stick with my powder charge I use with 140gr bullets and just tune the seating...
I can buy a Vortex GE for 1600 EUR. I was thinking sightron iii but 1/4 moa click is a no go. I already have one Vortex GE. I never had an athlon or any other chinese stuff. I am looking for an sfp scope primarily for f-class. I have also a march and a zeiss. I think I am not an expert since I...
My wonderful Italian annealer crashed. Before it gets repaired I decided to built an interim solution. I came across this video: I ordered already components and will be building the device hopefully next week. What do you think?
Today, I came across the following problem. I was preparing two control sets of bullets in 6.5 CM consisting of 11 bullets each: (Group no. 1) Lapua brass: (1)shoulders bumped 2 thau with Redding body die, then (2) 3/4 of the neck sized with Redding Competition neck sizing die using .290...
The road up and the road down is one and the same. However not all roads are the same. If I was reloading for PRS I kept my process simply, I avoided adding additional steps in the process. provided I got my minimum acceptable accuracy. However, in benchrest we are looking at smallest group...
I use a bushing neck sizing die (Redding) to size the neck of my brass. I use .290 for 6.5 Creedmoor. I have a strong feeling it's not enough to achieve repeatable, consistent neck tension. My question to you: 1. Should I use expander mandrel after using neck bushing die? 2. Should I neck...
Velocity, rigidity, weight. The would prefer to have my barrel as short as possible (rigidity) with enough velocity at the muzzle to be in the game at 800m (F-class). My primary choice is 26", but there are people who try to talk me into 29".
I would like to buy a spotting scope which would be capable of identifying my shots at 600 m on a paper target 9 (not a steel target) during an f-class match. I have no experience with spotting scopes so far. Budget- below 1000$. What would be your recommendation?
I am budgeting currently my new 6mm build. Is there a chance my gunsmith could modify my 6.5 CM action from my other rifle to serve in my 6mmBR build? I would happily skip 1000EUR on a new 6mmBR action...
Berger says that 130 gr OTM Hybrids are easier to tune than VLDs. Do they actually shoot 0.5 moa or better between 0.40-.120 off the lands according to your experience?
I plan to build a one-purpose-rifle. This purpose is 300m and 600m f-class. My assumption is that I could get slightly better groups than out of 6.5 CM I currently shoot. I started looking at 6mm. My primary scenario is 6 mm BR. Ideally I would go with a Dasher, but in Europe it's dufficult to...
I use Lapua brass and it seems to keep the dimensions. I didn't however measure the neck wall thickness. From your experience- does it make sense in terms of 300-800m accuracy to neck turn Lapua brass and spend money on neck turning station?
