    Rifle Scopes Optics Upgrade Recommendations

Re: Optics Upgrade Recommendations I think for your purpose and budget, the Aimpoint and magnifier is definitely the way to go. You will be using the straight Aimpoint most of the time and can quickly flip the mag in place for a longer shot. Zero at 50 yds and you should be gtg.

Buying a gun safe, looking for recommendations

Re: Buying a gun safe, looking for recommendations The problem with most "gunsafes" is that the sides and back are just sheet metal and can be cut open fairly easily with a reciprocating saw by a semi pro. If you build a new house, consider putting in a concrete vault room. I put a magnum...

Rifle Scopes Scope help!! long sorry!!

Re: Scope help!! long sorry!! I think 10-15x is all the magnification you need for your intended use. Those Night forces you mention are going to be pretty bulky on an AR. I would consider the 3.5-15x50 as big as I would go. As mentioned above, I would see how the PSTs turn out. I think...

    M118 LR on gunbroker

I see lots of M118 lr for sale on gunbroker in the brown government boxes with the lot numbers cut off. What's going on with this; is it ammo that "walked off" a base somewhere or what. Also see some marked as "PD" and some sold as "not PD". Is the PD is some form of rejects, floor sweepings...

    Rifle Scopes US Optics SN-4

Re: US Optics SN-4 I have one on my SPR setup AR and like it. About as close to a "do it all" optic as you will find for an AR IMHO. I would imagine in that price range most people go for more magnification. The SN-4s seem to be pretty common at 3-gun matches.

    Rifle Scopes Stupid question

Re: Stupid question I have always tightened a little at a time in a crisscross pattern. I think tightening one set completely would tend to pinch the scope. I have always used about 20-25 inch pounds and that has been enough. I have noticed scopes tend to roll a little when securing in a...

    Rifle Scopes Mil-Dot Question

Re: Mil-Dot Question So what you are saying is: subtension unit = range(yds) x mils / tgt size(") with "su" to be determined for each power by measuring mils at a known range and target size? Interesting concept.

Rifle Scopes what is to much?

Re: what is to much? I think you just defined "too much". The AR is a 600 yard gun at best. I wouldn't dream of trying to use a scope like that at anything under 500 yards and ideally 1000-2000 yards. The following article is a good place to start...
