Re: acceptable slam fire I have to agree with all of the above, a trigger that light is just asking for trouble. Say one day you're loading your gun getting it ready to shoot, you close the bolt while your buddy is standing a bit downrange. It just "so happens" to slam fire, try explaining...

Re: First full custom build .408 Rereading your post, I would suggest you stick with a .308, or look into the .260 Rem. I can get consistent center-mass hits at 1200 using a .308 Win and 200gr SMKs. The .260 will give you all the same range, with less recoil, and more terminal energy.

Re: Tactical Bolts I actually found a long range specialty shop on eBay that did my bolt, including a Badger knob, for $65 including return shipping. They did a fantastic job too.

Re: New B&C Stock .... any tips?? I have the Tac Medalist A5, I had to open up the barrel channel by hand because I'm using a #10 MTU barrel. Other than being somewhat heavy, I have no complaints.

Re: timney trigger !? I adjusted the X-Mark on my R700, it's a crisp and clean 2.5lbs. It is the only part on the gun other than the action I haven't replaced, I'm very happy with it. I did however put a Timney in my AR, significant improvement there. But still a bit of creep.
