    Rimfire Optics ~$100

When did telling the truth and giving good advice become 'elitist'. As others have said, save up, buy used or lower your expectations.

Is there a cheap Spotter that will allow you to clearly see .22 holes at 100 yards?

X2 on used if you're on a budget. I tried a couple cheapies as I mostly shoot .22WMR out to 150m so didn't figure I needed to spend big money...wrong...at 150mm .22 holes were a blur..and if in the white of the target invisible. Last year picked up used Baush & Lomb Elite (same as this Bushnell...

Rifle Scopes Nikon to stop making scopes???

Not anti gun per se. I'm the industrial manager for one of Canada's largest photo retailers. Nikon has been concerned since 2013 when they first started to feel a concerted effort from the part of the photographic community who complained mightily (particularly in Europe) that they couldn't...

400 yards max, what would you do?

I'd go with a .222. Inherently slightly more accurate than the .223 But because of the fact that it is a little less powerful than the .223 those 400yd shots will test you skill a bit more. Quite a bit of factory ammo available these days and easy to reload.

Rifle Scopes Am I being picky or is this odd for new scope?

It can be hard as a dealer. I once had the experience of having a customer who wanted to look at product that we did not have on display. We had the 8x42 Leica's on the counter, but not the 10x42. We got a box out, opened it and he looked through them. He said 'yes' to buying them...but then...

    Watches?

Use Ballistic on my iPhone. To me a watch should tell time. My Rolex has been doing just that for 30 years :)

We have recently made...

Are the Swarovski SLC 10x 42 and 8x42 Binoculars worth the cash?

I was a confirmed Nikon Monarch user for years...til I spend a weekend with a pair of 10x42 Swaro EL 10x42's last summer. Took them and my Monarchs on a camping trip and couldn't believe the detail at long ranges that was much more refined in the EL's. Especially in the shadows, details were...

Sidearms & Scatterguns What Camp Axe

I've used Fiskars and Estwings for 15 years. This year last year was presented a Gransfors by my sons. Wish someone had done that 15 years ago. For those that don't see the point...it' like anything. A Corolla will get you from point A to B as well as a Mercedes. But if you're more than...

Looking for Binos 1500.00 price range

As much as with a rifle scope...more money spent on binoculars usually means better quality. I sell optics in Canada. People come in look through a couple different pair of bino's at different price points and can't see a difference. But when you're out hunting you're likely not looking at...

    Rifle Scopes Buy American?

Whilst I would like to buy from the U.S. or Canada (where I'm from) the facts are...the very best optics in the world are from Japan and Germany. Name me one camera made on this continent? In no way am I gong to buy an inferior product just to say I bought it locally.

Do I really have this much to learn

Well, after a couple of months I found my problem...and is came way out of left field. So...yesterday was a typical day of late. Got to the range, touched off three shots at 100m...a little under an inch, bang in the middle of the target. Son #1 (16 yrs) did three shots...about an inch. Son #2...

Plinking fun: What do you do for a relaxed or lazy shooting day?

For the past five years I have been trying to perfect my shooting (both rimfire and cenrefire)...spending hours at the range and leaving either feeling great...or frustrated..like the day a couple of weeks ago when after about 3 good groups with the .308 and then it went to hell and I realized I...

What is your favorite folding knife?

As someone above mentioned...for general outdoor use the best folder is the venerable Buck 110. It hasn't stayed on most top 10 lists of outdoor folding knives for 50 years without good reason. Holds an edge well. What is most important (IMO) is just that it is so darned comfortable. Just...

We have three of their data books in the family. Best there is in my opinion, and the service and delivery are absolutely top notch.

Do I really have this much to learn

Appreciate your comment Greg. I do think I have the consistency your talking about. If I don't allow a lot of barrel cooling (I'm shooting 3 shot groups, then waiting about 5 minute), I'll get about 5 groups that are 1moa or better, then it opens to about 1.5-2moa. But as you say, it is...

Do I really have this much to learn

Thanks guys. I didn't think it could be a defect in the barrel...it's too predictable. Have been out three or four time testing different ammo, and it's been the same every time...four or five great groups (for me) and then it starts to open up and wander a bit high and to the left. But as you...
