Honestly if you want something that flings any ammo with every trigger pull I would replace the AK with the SKS. I have found with owning these guns that the SKS was typically more accurate for me than the AK. With custom handloads (waste of time) and the best scope mount I could find on the...
It comes with: Amazon.com : Pelican Products 1750 Gun Case with Foam for Rifle, Black : Sports & Outdoors I will definitely be ordering one. $200 with free shipping is a steal. Gotta love Prime!
It says in the post that the manufacturer was Fabrique Nationale (Firearms Int'l Corp). I don't know much about older guns, but isn't this who made this?
That might be what it was caused by (excessive lube). I just didn't know if that was going to be an issue when loading and firing. Didn't know if there was a way to do a blank charge with some powder and wax or something of the sorts. If loading and firing like a normal case is OK, then I may...
I have 2-3 pieces of once fired 338 Lapua Lapua brass that got dented in the shoulder because I had my die settings wrong for the press I was using. I was curious if there was a way to resurrect this brass or if I should just throw it in the garbage. At $2+ each, I was a little hesitant to take...
You searched for: silver state - MidwayUSA I would start there and look at their various reviews on their different ammo. I have shot their 7.62x51 NATO from my SASS and the gun loves it. The 5.56 ammo is decent, but I prefer black hills. Is it superb ammo? In my opinion, no. But is it decent...
I have something that shoots 3000 FPS, it's a 300 win mag hah! Man, I load my 168s to right around 2700. I can't imagine pushing one of those over 3000 in my 308. I think my gas guns would explode haha.
Yea I heard the first rumors of the bugs and although my brother described it as "slick" I was not about to update to it. The same exact thing happened when they went from iOS 6 to 7. I wait until the second or third patch comes out before I update, because EVERY time there are bugs that need to...
I had a custom 308 by R&D and I sold it and bought a Savage 10 and did some mods to it. I figured that if my $600 Savage could shoot 3/4 MOA at 100 yards but a custom $3000+ gun could shoot 1/2 MOA, that just wasn't worth it to me. Then I drank the Kool-Aid and had a custom 338 Lapua built. Do...
I saved this thread in my favorites. It's a good read and I agree, custom grade barrels do not need to be broken in. http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/sniper-hide-gunsmithing/37176-objective-research-barrel-break-procedures.html
Barrel: There are more expensive options but I went with a KSA barrel (I think you can find them on ebay) Bolt: Went with the factory Ruger bolt, didn't see a need to upgrade this (but put a Kidd charging handle on there) Trigger: Went big on this one and got a Volquartsen and it was...
I own a handful of Vortex and will continue to because of their awesome warranty. I'll take that broken HS-T off from you if you don't want to bother sending it to them to get fixed. If there is one problem I have seen most often with Vortex it is the canted reticles that happen on some...
My suggestion for the rifle is a Savage 12 LRP in 6.5 CM. It's not that uncommon anymore and people think it outperforms the .308. I owned one of these and with factory Hornady ammo it easily shot .5-.75 and my handloads followed in the same steps. The only reason I didn't hold onto it was that...
Build something like this for you and your wife...or buy mine! I went the route of putting a brake on my 223. It has so little recoil with that weight that you can literally watch the bullets smack the varmint! This thing shoots a dime at 100 yards with my hand loads or factory loads the same...
I don't think the barrel was sandblasted before the cerakote was applied, therefore didn't have enough of an anchor on there or something. I know duracoat can get beat up on barrels as well.
Not only will you chip it with the threading and chamber, but you need a way to clamp down that barrel and hold it in place. On top of that, they have to torque that barrel into place when installing it and that will definitely leave marks. I can send you some pictures of the marks and scrapes...
