I’ve now tried 2 different powders along with various seating depths.

My only goal is to keep it from going super sonic and for whatever reason, the bullets WILL NOT STABILIZE and it’s infuriating.

I have a 1/7 Wilson combat barrel that’s 8” long

I’ve used CFE black (which is complete dog shit and wouldn’t recommend this powder to anyone)
And now H110.

I’m all out of ideas on what it can be.

What’s your berrys load data and are you having bullets tumble?

1680 and CFE Blk are the only two powders I've seen that actually work properly with subs. I put a small crimp on mine, mainly because I run them on a 1050 with a bullet feeder, so I use an m die to improve seating, and I just use an FCD to take out the slight expansion. Almost like a pistol.

What brand barrel are you using? How many grains and OAL are you shooting?

I made a couple rounds with my buddies 1680 and I got the same results.

Multiple barrels/guns. AR 8", 10.5"... both shoot these loads fine

My buddy strictly shoots 300blk subs for years.. Here is what he sent me.

225gr BTHP / 11.2gr 1680 / 1125fps out of 10.5"

215gr Kings (local bullet maker we buy from)
9.9gr H110 / 1189fps

He said it's a challenge to stabilize these long bullets under 1100fps and that you just need more speed to stabilize. You're probably running them too slow. Have you chrono your current load? What's your speeds? I suspect they are too slow to stabalize

There’s another thread on this. I have my data from 8” and A1680. I agree with Padom. It meters so easily also.

Here another sub load from another buddy. He whacked a deer the other night with it at 25-30yd neck shot. Dropped dead where it stood. He said it's a tad on the hotter side.

That purple bullet is the 215gr PC bullet I was talking about. We get them cheap, local company makes them. They are polymer coated lead bullets.

I’m also local to kings and their bullets won’t stabilize either. The speed is around 950-1000 fps.

What barrel are you using for your 8.5?

I just called berrys and the guy is getting back to me. Incredibly frustrating

Here is 3 different factory subsonic 300blk ammo from 200gr to 220gr... they are all between 1055-1160.... you asked for help because you don't know what you're doing but you dont want to take the advice. Therefore this thread is over.

And don't open the same topic in 2 different subgroups for the same issue. That's against our rules.

For subs in general I am having great luck with 1680 powder. That goes for 300blk as well as 8.6blk rounds. Forget even trying CFEBLK. H110 will work just have to find the sweet spot. I'm a fan of 300blk 1:7 short barrels, 1:8 on 16" is OK and on my 8. 6blk I'm using 210 grain rounds at 1:3 twist. The 30 cal at 1000-1100 fps is usually very stable (Berry's 220) with no key holes or baffle/brake strikes.

Given the success of the super spinning 8.6blk I wish someone would crank a barrel out at 1:3 or 1:5 300blk and then make a mono copper round to take the spin. Gonna ask Spikes Tactical if they would make one for testing!

I crimp so that I cannot twist the projectile in the brass. No more! Squished bullets fly wonky.

Jump on bolt guns is best around .015". (again, berry 220 30 cal.) You can do jump measures on semis but for under 50 yard shots not much to gain.

Load slow and work your way up to best grouping!
