Benefits of skim bedding an AICS

I recently had a ftr rifle built. Specs are a 28" bartlein #9, Stiller Tac 30, AICS 1.5, Jewell hvr. I had to send it back to get the proper neck dimensions reamed out for lapua brass, but I went ahead and decided to have it skim bedded as well based on what one of my friends, and a VERY good FTR shooter , reccomended. Has anybody with an AICS had one skim bedded and if so could you tell a difference in repeatability in terms of poi ....

I recently sold aics 2.0 to KUDA which was skim bedded..honestly i cant te any diff.. unless i didnt shoot it enough before selling it

I have a custom Remington with an AICS and it was bedded and it shoots outstanding. I just got a new AICS, the new version for a Rem 700 5r. They say you dont need to bed them and I will shoot it first and see how it shoots. One thing I did notice is that the portion of the chassis where the recoil lug sits is much wider than the recoil lug itself, leaving a big gap so I don't know that can be condusive to accuracy. Its torqued to AI's recommended torque so we will see. One thng that I did notice that is that the newer version does not need to be modified to accept a Timney trigger which is good. On a side note my custom Remington has the older style skins and why AI changed I have no idea. There must be some reason. but taking off the skins on the newer version is a big pita vs the older ones which are one piece vs new ones. Also does anyone know what those little round cut outs on the skins are for?

Mine is being built and it will
Be skim bedded. My smith says almost all chassis should be skim bedded. He said all the chassis are perfect as perfect get and they don't very much if any between them but no two 700 receiver are the same and none are perfectly built.
