Can Surefire RC2 suppress 6mm Max?

Hey Hide.

I’m interested in putting together a 6mm Max build. My question is this, since the 6mm Max uses the same Outside/Rim Diameter, and Case Head Size as the 5.56/.223; and 6mm max also uses the 5.56/.223 BCG, can I use a Surefire RC2 or dedicated 5.56/.223 Suppressor with 6mm Max?
The only factor I see that would potentially say no is the Cartridge Overall Length.
The 5.56/.223 being 2.24 OAL and 6mm Max being 2.29 OAL.
I’m very uneducated in the suppressor scene, so hopefully my question isn’t too simple.
Thanks in advance for all insight.

Well, the fact that its a 223 caliber can and your bullet is 243 caliber presents an issue...
Eh depends on the bore and how much wiggle room there is. The SOCOM556 SB2 for instance has a larger than normal aperture for frangible and less stable projectiles specifically.

Remind me and I’ll stick a 6mm rod through mine tomorrow.

Did you ever try this and did it work? Same boat

I regularly shoot 6mm through my RC3. It will fit the RC3, but the bigger problem is the muzzle device. I had to take a 556 three prong and re-thread it to 5/8-24 for my barrel. Conversely, you could re-thread your barrel 1/2-28 and to it. Either way just be doubly sure to check your alignment before you send it and understand that Surefire it likely not going to warranty repair your can if you blow it up.

That is good to know.

I ran a 6mm and 6.5mm alignment rod through my rc2, both cleared. But it was suggested that a 7mm be able to clear to be safe. The first baffle is tighter and the 7mm rod, which measures 0.272", would not clear the first baffle.

I will run the rods through the RC3 and see if they are different but I haven't been bold enough to run the RC2 on my 6gt.
