Finally bit on a Manners! Dealing with wait times?

Wanted one for a long time but could never justify the cost. After repeated self inflicted ass kickings and mornings filled with regret and self loathing, I manned up. A T5 in coyote tan with an MCS and badger rail.

I had an AICS on another project and was less than thrilled with it so I'm still a little wary of the thumbhole design but the consensus seems to be that for big hands and long arms, the T5 offers more comfort than the AICS. It also seems like you can bypass the thumbhole and get close to a T4 feel. MMV of course.

My hope with the T5 is that it will offer more control over the pan/tilt of my Atlas. My 2nd choice was the T4 which probably serves just as admirably but for that purpose it seemed like a safer bet. I was also able to order the T5 through Stockys for $55 LESS than the T4 (both are the fixed cheek variety)

And so begins the 12 week countdown. What did you guys do to keep yourselves sane? Is there a Manners pr0n thread on here? How close are their estimated delivery times to their actual?

Thanks. Now if only I had a TRG to shoot in the mean time...........

You'll like the T5. If it were me I would go with the T5A. I was going to go with the T5 and went with the T5A instead. Go on and spend the extra for the adjustable cheek piece. You will not regret it. The wait time is real close as to what they tell you. I got mine a little earlier. Great People to deal with and Great Customer Service. You will not regret going with a Manners.

If I'm gonna run a stock pack, do I need the T5A? That's the only reason I didn't get it.

Re: Finally bit on a Manners! Dealing with wait times?

I'm in the same boat as you kind of. Right now I'm deciding between the T4 or T5, leaning towards the T5.

As far as the adjustable cheek rest. It's a non issue if you’re running a stock pack. I prefer the stock pack with the stock pack built up to my desired height. One less thing that can fail IMO.

Re: Finally bit on a Manners! Dealing with wait times?

All I can say it is worth the wait. You can get alot of reloading done in that time, beleive me.

Re: Finally bit on a Manners! Dealing with wait times?

No, I don't think you will need the T5A if you are going to run it as a stock pack. But if you are going to use it later for F Class I would get the T5A. You don't have to use the cheek rest but it is always there and if you want to sell the stock it will probably sell faster with the cheek piece. I like my stock and it was worth the wait even though it seems like it never was going to get there. The extra price on the cheek piece you can make up during the wait. Good Luck to You.

Re: Finally bit on a Manners! Dealing with wait times?

My tan 90% carbon fiber T5 with mini chassis got here today with the UPS man. My Karsten adjustable cheek piece came this morning by USPS. You are going to be pleased I'm sure. This stock is awesome.

I think if weight is not an issue to you than the regular CF to fiberglass ratio and the KMW adjustable feature would be great for prone and bench shooting, a little heavy for hunting with in a climber or hiking (not too bad though).

From what I have read, my stock weighs 2.3lbs with the 90% CF and non adjustable comb. The regular (65 carbon fiber-35 fiberglass) T5 is listed at 2.7 and the regular T5 adjustable is 4lbs. I think the 90% takes .4 off.

The Karsten adj piece can't weigh much at all, the way mine will be setup is going to be light and handy for sure.

Re: Finally bit on a Manners! Dealing with wait times?

I called em up yesterday and had em switch it to the KMW hardware. Always good to have options. As far as the fill, most of my shooting is prone and it's not a hunting rig so the standard ratio and extra weight will work to my advantage.

Re: Finally bit on a Manners! Dealing with wait times?

Good decision to add the KMW hardware. I have it and it beats a mound of padding and tape on a $600+ stock everyday of the week. The stock will be here before you know it (Not really but just trying to make you feel better)

Re: Finally bit on a Manners! Dealing with wait times?

I think you made a great choice. You will be very pleased with the stock. If not you can always sell it as most everyone loves them. Manners has great service and stocks. I shoot prone and like the way my hand fits the thumbhole and the cheek piece is nice. Believe you will like the stock.

Re: Finally bit on a Manners! Dealing with wait times?

I run the MCS T1 and love it!! The T5 is also on my short list though! Manner's product & customer service rocks!!!

I saw the T1 and had trouble deciphering the difference between the T1 and the T4 other than the T1 looks to have an enormous cheek piece.

I'm not concerned with liking the stock, I think it'll run just fine. It was just a matter of making the financial commitment and accepting that waiting 12 weeks is the price you pay (on top of the 4 digit price tag haha)

I used 12 weeks as an arbitrary number. That's what I've been reading lately. At that point what's another 6 weeks?

I was quoted 16 weeks last week when I ordered a TA.

Dang! Only 15 weeks left!!

My first one was an SL and it took 12 weeks. My second one was a T, and it took about three weeks.

I didn't ask for an estimated delivery date in hopes of losing track of how long it's been. Poor timing on my part, though, because the weather will probably get here first. Shoulda paid more attention in math class.

Re: Finally bit on a Manners! Dealing with wait times?

I guarantee you it'll be worth your wait.

Re: Finally bit on a Manners! Dealing with wait times?

My butts are hookless now, so T2A's my flavor (or McM A3).

Will definitely be worth the wait, but here's my comment on part of why someone gets a good stock:

I'm really wondering why one would choose a T5 if they didn't like a thumbhole. Fitting your stock style to another piece of gear (bipod) is borderline absurd to me. Fit everything around the way the rifle fits you (LOP, cheekpiece, etc).
-but that's just my opinion.

Adjustable cheekpieces (KMW) used be Manners are great. I prefer them to a stock pack because a stock pack will put your face ar far from centerline laterally as it will vertically.
The adjustable cheekpiece has a horizontal component that will actually do the opposite, allow you to put your head directly in line behind the scope.

I am a fan of most thumbholes, just not the skinny grip and short LOP on the AICS. The T5 also offers options. You can use the thumbhole or you can rest your thumb behind the rear tang as you would with most setups. I also like the way they molded the grip on the T5 to keep your hand in a proper position and it gives you better repeatability since it's easy to return to the exact same spot.

It was a really tough choice between the T4 and T5 and I've been going back and forth in my head for a few months now, but I felt like the T5 can offer a little T4 flavor but the T4 cannot offer what the T5 does.

Re: Finally bit on a Manners! Dealing with wait times?

Very cool, basically I just advise everyone do their homework and it looks as if you have. Its great we have all the options available we do these days, but that also makes it more important that people realize that what fits them may not win them the online popularity contest. I shot McM A5's for years, just because they were what the cool kids drove. No more for this guy.
Results on target trump everything for me, and that drives my decisions now, whether its gear decisions or reloading practices.

My gripe with the AICS lies in the web of thumb to trigger distance-too short. That is definitely fixed in the Manners stocks. I had a chance to get behind a buddy's T5A. I'm glad I did, because its just not my cup o tea.

Find what fits you best and go for it! Then forget you ordered it and have a christmas morning flashback when you get the box (which I guess would not be appropriate for you, buy you catch my drift eh?).

Haha yeah more like a Christmas morning surprise. I know exactly what you mean about the web on the AICS. I was using the KRG Bolt Lift knob and my index finger was bent so far that my 2nd knuckle kept hitting the handle and obviously that kind of obstruction on your trigger finger is no good.
