Who was your examiner? I sent mine in the same time but I have Barbara Payne for an examiner and I hear she takes forever. I called last week and they told me to call back in another month or two.

Called my dealer after seeing your post and he says he has heard unofficially that there is a slowdown among some examiners. Says his customers are recieving their stamps in anywhere from 2 months to 5 months currently, and there is no way of knowing which it will be. So I put my patience cap back on, and wait a while longer. Besides I haven't ordered my TAB gear yet anyway.

Hopefully you get yours soon, I was getting so antsy for this but I know the wait was well worth it. My dealer (AWC) says it definitely is a crap shoot, but fortunately most of the forms come back within 3 months on average.

Looking at the reports on NFA Tracker (http://www.nfatracker.com/reports.aspx)
It looks like Andrew Ashton is one of the slower examiners.
(Or he just has more than everyone else...)
My guestimate by looking at his record would be 120 days.
So, that would put you somewhere around June 8th.

Frogman, as an FYI I put a Form 4 in around the same time, check cashed on 2/04/10, and still nothing. I haven't checked to see who the examiner is but it's pretty close time wise.
Seemed odd, as this is my first significant delay in 8 transfers.

In Louisiana there is an entire State approval process and that approved paperwork has to be submitted with the Form 4 application to the Fed's. The State lost my paper work and we (me and my dealer) had to resubmit
. Well after paying for the can to start the process on March 30th I FINALLY get the state paperwork in and can send in the Form 4 to begin the Federal process.

I was a little disappointed to find some ink smudge like they spilled water on the form and a small tear in the page on the fold. They did not seem to treat the document like it was very important or worth $200.

The State lost my paper work and we (me and my dealer) had to resubmit . Well after paying for the can to start the process on March 30th I FINALLY get the state paperwork in and can send in the Form 4 to begin the Federal process.

Call the BATF NFA branch at (304) 616-4500
Tell them that you would like to check on the status of a Form 4 transfer.
(or Form 1 if you are making it yourself)
They will ask you for the serial number of the item and your name.
You will then be told the status.
If you want to know who the examiner is you will have to ask.
(They don't provide examiner's name unless prompted.)
If you like, check out http://www.nfatracker.com/ to see all the different turn around times.
