Lets see your USMC M40-M40A6!!!

Took these 2 out for a date on V Day

That is actually the scope that I modeled my coloring after. With the dark front bell. I really liked the Gold color, but just couldn’t get away from the “greenie” color scheme.

It is crazy that his original 6 digit action was still in service as an M40A1. Think of training on Chucks old rifle.

If you ever find yourself near Fairfax VA do yourself a favor and go to the NRA National Firearms Museum. It is amazing to say the least.

Shame they didn’t use the correct tombstone safety.

Thanks, DW. I love them!

Looking for an original SIMRAD mount if anybody has one they don't need/want...

M40A3 guys - What are y'all doing for barrel paint/coating? Black oxide? If so where did you have it done? Thanks

The only current option for black oxide that Im aware of is Bill Corley in NC. I think his shop is called Outback Custom. Raven Rifles used to do a great job, but he quit building rifles.

I have been debating on doing an M40A3 out of the M40A1. Change the scope base to a rail, keep the MST-100 and throw the whole thing into an M40A3 stock and add a magazine kit. Just to do something a little different.

I thought about doing the same thing, but in the end I just couldn't give up an A1...

Don't do it.

As Sid Philips would say "You'll be Sorrreeee!"

If you use an A3 scope base you will have to cut receiver more for the rear lug. The A1 mount would not fit snugly any longer.

I would just use a regular scope rail. I wouldn't modify the gun further.

Now its been quite a while. But first observation is that it may look unsightly with the clip slot showing under the mount without the lug. Probably only noticable to you and under close inspection but may be bothersome. Second, Yes the A3 was "lug slotted " not for the clips and if I recall.. wasnt the top of the receiver machined flat to fit the bottom of the rail ?

So my girlfriend was sort of "anti gun" when we first met. She didn't really understand civilian ownership of firearms. Now though she wants me to teach her how to shoot precision. So I went and bought her a Ruger Precision Rifle in .243 to learn on. Today though it was nice and sunny so she asked me to take a picture of her holding my favorite rifle!

Hope everyone here is doing well through this crazy time.

Took the A5 out for the first time in months to test out some cheap surplus M118LR I found; thought it might be too good to be true haha. Can't complain at $0.55/round after seeing the groups :p
