Anyone here have or had A Nemo Overwatch ? I’ve got a 300 WinMag that shoots very well <.5 inches for 5 at 100M but has pulled the rim off a couple cases. I've cleaned and oiled and dry patched it. I’m shooting new FGMM 190 SMKs and satisfied on accuracy. They are not hot at all and same lot#. I have always been a fan of the 190s for the 300. I may need to Chrony it to know where it sits speed wise. The Overwatch is a Beast with a 24 inch tube and an old NXS. Would anybody have suggestions or ideas on the rim Problem? It’s a pretty good mouse trap I think!

Yes I knew about the hot load no no’s. The Federal Gold Medals were not on the list. Nemo said to send it to back but that was my last week home in Arkansas. I am the Senior Guest Lecturer of English, American History, and International Culture in Wuhan Hubei PRC. I am back in school til July and it will have to wait til then. It has less than 60 rounds down the tube. I pick up my new 6.5CM Hospitaller in KC in August drive back to Arkansas. I can break em both in then. My bud shot my chrony but that’s the next topic I’ll be working on. It’s packed to send to NEMO so that’s my first order of business. The lady said a week tops but...we’ll see. Might get Dadto take to Fed Ex.

I guessed 2800 out the muzzle and Federal says 2725 so I don’t believe this load is too hot. I’d classify as a mild load. Maybe two rim pull offs is normal but is two to many if I was carrying it for real. After sending it back if I can put two hundred with zero rims pulled off I’ll be happy. I just hope it shoots as well.

IMHO, Your firearm is trying to yank the fired case out while still under high pressures.
Typically , the solution ( on a gas gun ) is to keep the bolt locked milliseconds longer.

Typically on .308 class rounds / gas firearms you add buffer weight , heavier recoil spring weight and / or a fully adjustable gas block.

The Nemo webpage doesn't have certain specifics on the buffer system. IE buffer weight, propriety buffer or recoil spring ?

IMPORTANT... make sure nothing you do will void a warranty or damage you or the firearm.

You might try phoning them again and ask if a heavier buffer or stronger recoil spring would work.

IE , Do you know if the recoil spring and buffer could be made heavier ?

I see it has a 4 position gas block... can you still get 100% function with it tuned to a more restrictive gas level ?

Safe bet it's trying to extract too early, before the case can relax. A heavier buffer would probably help, maybe try a lower gas setting with the current buffer. Worst case the dwell time is wrong because of the ports or block if you can't tune it out. It's known to be rough on brass even when in a good mood, FWIW.

When I send it in I will raise all these questions. I have adjusted gas and should shoot again before I send it to Nemo. I believe the platform is sound but needs kinks worked out.
