So..will a target like this take a hit from a 300WM at 500yds and stay standing up? I like the idea and need a steel target but most hang on a chain or something that would help absorb the impact.

Re: New Texas Steel Target Manufacturer

Just recieved one of these targets from Geordie, and it is well worth the money. It is 18x24 and has two t-handle bolts on back for a solid lock up on t-post.

This target has very good steel the .308 doesn't even dimple it at 100 yds. Geordie said I could probably shoot it with my 22-250 and not penetrate.

Well worth the 65$ and that included shipping!!

I can try it this weekend and see. But why do you want to hit steel with a .308 at 100 yards?

Re: New Texas Steel Target Manufacturer

Sometimes on BLM land I am limited on range and a place I shoot handguns has a little over 100yrds of space and there is a bunch of post at the 100yrd mark. So I thought the biggest thing I would throw at it would be a 308 so just thought I would check.

O yea and I pretty much have to shoot through some brush so it is easier to listen then to have to try and see if it is a hit.

Re: New Texas Steel Target Manufacturer

Just a little bump and a quick review of Outback's steel targets. I bought a couple of targets from him a few weeks ago while up near Dallas and finally got a chance to give them a try at a little family get-together.

Here are a couple of pics after shooting them from 100 to 380yds with a couple of .22's and my 7mm-08 (200yds+). The wind was blowing 10-15 from left to right. I let everybody take a shot that was there. Most shot the hanging disc's that my father-in-law had up vs these targets but they still got a work out and performed great! I guess re-active targets are more fin. My Father-in-law had all kinds of steel targets down range and he was pretty concerned of these fairly thin steel plates until he saw them after we were done. I have a feeling we may be changing out his targets with Sniper Construction targets.

here's the rifle from as far back as his range can go for now with my brother-in-law at the trigger:

a shot of the range (can't see the targets from crappy phone pic):

Just a final note on Outback and Sniper Construction: A complete pleasure to deal with and to talk with. As soon as we get time to extend our range I will be heading back for more targets. Craftsmanship was great, service was great, and product was great. Plus it was made in Texas! What else could you ask for?

Thank you Geordie and thank you Capt. for the recommendation.

Thanks, good to know, I will get to check them out this weekend and may have to order a few.

Re: New Texas Steel Target Manufacturer

Cant beat the targets. We blasted mine from 200 to 950 yds and the only thing that failed was the fire hose used to swing them with. Geordie replaced the broken hose even though it was not his fault. The hose was shot into a couple of times. I used a back up in 3/16" cable so we could continue. 427Cobra then shot the cable so that ended that target. All of the steel from Geordie stood the test of .260, .223 and .308 blasting it. No broken welds and no chips on the edges.

Re: New Texas Steel Target Manufacturer

I've got a bunch of Geordie's targets and have shot them all with everything from a 22 to 50bmg. My 338 loves the Hostage target at 400yds. We sometimes hit the edges "dang wind" but they hold up just fine. If anyone needs some videos on his targets getting shot let me know and I'll post some. I would also like to add that he doesn't skimp on the stands either. If your worried about how they were cut or welded you are worrying to much. If it does weaken it I can't tell. All I know is I can't afford enough ammo and barrels to destroy one of his targets.

Also, great guy to deal with
