So, I got a message from PayPal a few days back that my account is suspended permanently, my funds will be held for 180 days before they can be moved. Customer Service, such that it is, cannot tell me why, it's just been deemed a 'high risk' and thus services have been terminated, no recourse is possible. My guess is it's something firearms/night vision related, but no idea as to what specificly popped the flag. Anyone have any insight or experiance with this? I get no response to emails, I've gone to the supervisor level at CS and get nothing.

A buddy of mine had his acct banned too. He had sold I think a g19 frame and the buyer put “Glock 19” in the notes when he sent the money. PayPal locked both of their accounts

Well I'm open to alternatives for online payments, plus I'd like to get my money. Bitcoin is not really a viable option.

Even if paypal didn't lock their accounts, don't leave a record if you don't have to.
    Agree on code words,
"Thanks for the deal on the bumpstock" :)

    ^^^Thats it,

I use it but I dont put anything down in the notes. Second thing is move your money out as soon as its available. They cant keep what they dont have.

Had it happen to me 3 or 4 weeks ago on a goods and services payment for a scope I sold here.
I fixed it after several emails.
I proved i didnt break any rules and that they stole my money . No response but my account was unlocked and i got my money.
Been looking for another option but they all seem to link back to paypal.
We may have to go back to checks and money orders.
NO NOTES IS THE KEY !

Your money will be forfiet to PayPal it's in the terms of the agreement. I know 3 people who have lost thousands to this when PayPal locks your account.

I don't know why people don't use Google pay. No fees and seems like they really don't care what your doing haha

and you can sign in using your Facebook account :)
(will have to check out Google pay though)

I just checked out Google Pay. They want me to sign in to my account...cant remember my password so to verify they want my first phone # from 60 fucking years ago, which I cant remember. so I cant do anything, caught in an internet fucking vortex.

PayPal is cancerous hot dogshit. If I have to use it for some reason I make sure I email, text, call whatever to the buyer and tell them DON'T FUCKING PUT ANYTHING IN THE COMMENTS, AT ALL. Seems to have worked so far and I also rip my money out the second it hits. Horrible service and company, fuck them all.

I am definitely checking out Google Pay now.

Tell them you are a Trans-Prostitute and during the Pandemic it's your chosen method of doing business.

problem solved, can't cancel a transgender prostitute, the woke crowd won't allow it, instant reenstatement.

    What's sad is this isn't even a joke, it'd 100% work.

Fuck paypal, don't use them, they have no customer service and they are like communist rulers with YOUR money

Never give them access to your bank account either. They are criminals

It always baffled me that the NRA didn't get into 2A friendly payment processing and banking. The financial industry has been openly hostile to anything firearm related for quite a while.

    In all seriousness,

Running a Porn business online is easier in terms of banking than it is in the gun industry on every level

you either pay way too much, having insane liability insurance, or a combination of everything, with minimum choices in who can do it.

There are no good substitutes, and unfortunately, the ease in which Pay Pal integrates into every system makes it the first and sometimes the best choice, which can often be the only choice without a lot of custom porting.

It's a bigger battle than many might realize.

Whats funny is paypal never gave a fuck when i bought or sold 20 k in gun related stuff on ebay.
I know they were pissed they missed their 8 percent they would have made had i listed on ebay instead.

Edit. i have as of late had several people invoice with square on scopes and mounts i bought on ebay

PayPal is convenient but I’m waiting to get the hammer because even after telling folks to leave the comments blank, they still put in some stupid comment. One guy left the comment “for the tikka”. Like come on guy. Don’t do me dirty like that.

That is 100% realistic evaluation of the situation.

Also, note that GooglePay has similar restrictions:

    Pyrotechnic devices and hazardous materials
Examples: Fireworks and related goods; toxic, flammable, and radioactive materials and substances; gunpowder; explosives
    ...
    Weapons
Examples: Firearms, ammunition, and other items including but not limited to firearms, disguised, undetectable, or switchblade knives, martial arts weapons, silencers, ammunition, ammunition magazines, BB guns, and tear gas. Under certain conditions, some products and services would be permitted for the purposes of allowing a user to save a “show and scan” object to Google

Best advice transfer any account balance to your checking quick.
Every time I left the money sit in a balance paypal has grabbed it.
Alway, as soon as the deal is 100% satisfactory to both parties, I transfer all balance into my bank account.
But, as I understand, if PP decides they may go to that account and take what they want in the event of a disputed transaction.
Is Venmo any better than PP? I know of PP, Venmo and Google Pay. Any others worth looking into?

I think Zelle works well. doesn't offer protections but they dont really care what u use it for.

I had PayPal lock my account as I sold a firearm manual and the person put the name of the firearm. I had to go through a long process and send them proof I was selling books etc. which was easy. While my account was restored, it was frustrating as a 16 year customer and I felt is was very much a Guilty until proven innocent type of attitude on their part.

I put gay shit in the comments section and they have left me alone.
Ru Paul action figures, Ru Paul makeup kit, on one Lancer hanguard purchase
I put used 15 inch black latex anal destroyer. 🤣 PayPal is fucked up and I use it to fuck with them. And transfer my money out immediately. And when I sell something I tell them to leave it blank or put something gay sounding in there. They’ll never screw with it. If someone puts something firearms related in the comments section I don’t ship until money clears to my bank account.

Edit. i have as of late had several people invoice with square on scopes and mounts i bought on ebay

PayPal went full on evil a couple months ago and decided that for all the small businesses, if you refund someone they will just go ahead and keep 3% of your money anyways regardless... And then they put all these ads up about just buy what you want then return it when you don't like it to stupid "consumers".

So a lot of people are moving to Square which does it properly (like PayPal used to do), and all they keep is like $0.60 worth of transaction fees.

PayPal used to be a decent credit card processor, but then they got greedy and said let's screw all small businesses while they are already hurting.

Thats why I have two accounts for any big items. Transfer from Paypal to the first, then from the first to the second. Then they cant touch it, but what theyll do is give you a chargeback and send it to collections if you dont pay up.

I shipped a $1600 turntable to Canada. The guy decided he didnt want it, said there was a scratch (on the outside of the shipping box for christ's sake) so Ebay and Paypall refunded him and I got stuck with freight both ways plus the paypal fees.

SOONER OR LATER I WILL FUCK THEM BACK. ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.

I quit selling on ebay when they started charging me a percent of the shipping fees.
If i charged 25 dollarss hipping they wanted 3 percent of that as well. Half the fucking time it cost me more than the flat shipping fee i charged and then i got shived with a fee from ebay/paypal too

...We may have to go back to the days of Shotgun News and send money orders.

Zelle looks interesting as it is hooked up with most banks and even if you do business with a non-bank friend, the zelle app seems to handle that as well (although I do not know the details nor timing).
On further checking there is a transaction limit that depends on your bank and/or the type of bank account. For example, the Chase limit is $2,000 for personal accounts and $5,000 for their 'select' accounts.

I used Zelle a couple of times (not for firearms related stuff, though) and it was very simple and painless. However, they technically prohibit the use of the service for "Firearms, ammunition or other weapons". Also, they say "We further reserve the right to suspend or terminate your use of the Service if we believe that you are using the Service for business or commercial purposes, or for any of the uses identified directly below." It doesn't look like they engage in 180 day suspension bullshit, though.

    Buyer fat-fingered the notes. It wasn't a "Glock-19." It was a "Cock-19..."

Back in June I ordered a back pack from walmart.com and used Paypal and got the same message as the OP. Only thing I can figure is the description of the back pack had the word Gunner. Tried to call but no one available because of Covid. Sent Email and no response. The next day Walmart cancelled my order. This is what I ordered: GPS Handgunner Backpack . Paypal is indefinitely cancelled

PayPal will never get my business. Whenever I see a listing, here or anywhere else, for stuff I want where the seller says PayPal only/No exceptions, I walk away. I’ll find it elsewhere.

I respect that . But for my curiosity how would you like to pay for items? Check, money order?
I have sold things and people say they sent a check or money order but they never arrived. While waiting for payments that never arrived i would always get offers .

glock store in San Diego only accepts zelle now. They have a shotgun I was going to buy but wouldn’t take cash/check or credit card. Zelle only. They also are an FFL but wouldn’t let me do the transfer there, they required another $30 to ship it somewhere else. They can get fucked.

these PP folks are pricks. Once sold some golf clubs to a guy and he put in the payment - "going to enjoy these with a nice cigar" - PP accused me of selling tobacco products and suspended me - bunch of morons.

I'm on the other side of this right now. Sent a MO for a GB purchased rifle which so far has not made it. The tracking (fortunately I paid for it) now says "arriving late" (a euphemism for "we have no fucking clue where your letter is") and there is no scans for the past week. I hope USPS didn't lose/steal it. It's going to be a bitch (at best) to recover it. It was a good deal too...

Use Zelle or Applepay if you trust the other person in the transaction. Also keep any gun words out of the deal and it should go fine

I’m down for almost any option but usually it’s postal money order. It probably isn’t for everyone, but I get an insane discount with FedEx through work. I get two day service for 80% off. It’s slightly more expensive than going through the post office but not by much. The extra three bucks or so is worth the peace of mind.

It's hard. I have a awesome post office. The lady running it is great, she is a transplant from England and she likes guns and shooting. I always go see her as soon as I get a postal money order in. She will verify it and I'll ship out whatever I'm selling before I even deposit them in the bank.

I always prefer usps mo's but will accommodate just about anything.
