Varget available in Raleigh

Okay, so I know this only applies to members that live in or within reasonable driving distance of Raleigh NC. Anyhow, thought I'd relay that I picked up (4) 1 lb cans (same lot#) of Varget powder yesterday from Brian at Pilot Mountain Arms. Current price is 29.95 per. His number is 919-283-0110 and the website is www.pilotmountainarms.com.

I left him with 6 remaining bottles, also of the same lot. Brian builds some seriously impressive custom precision rifles and 1911 pistols, (among other products and services) and says he tries to keep Varget on hand for his local customers. Says he can also get this powder in 8 lb kegs if folks want.

I did check out one of his ultralight hunter rifles that he offered me for inspection... suuuweet.

I left him with a couple of recent used rifle purchases, both in 257 Roberts, that I had procured online, for him to clean and provide for me, an overall detailed inspection and condition report. I'll be going back to fetch them in a couple weeks and I'm pretty sure I'll be doing more business with Brian in the future... good listener, easy to talk to, and doesn't appear to have a lick of BS in his DNA.

FYI - I was chatting with Brownell's customer support earlier today and asked about Varget and H4350. She looked them up and they have absolutely no idea when they'll get any again.

Not sure Rob... was only trying to get my hands on some Varget. Don't guess it would hurt to give Brian a call. Remember he doesn't ship, but for me, as hard as it has been recently to get hold of Varget, I don't mind the 4 hour R/T drive and glad to have a relatively local source. Of course I don't just drive up to Raleigh for this single purpose, rather I consolidate while making a side trip or two to other places of interest while up in the big city.

Oh yeah, and I'm fortunate not to have to drive my gas burning 4WD SUV either. Instead, I take the little 40 MPG rice burner sedan, which uses well under 20 bucks of fuel for the entire round trip.

Yep, I did the same... Brownell's and many other online sources, all with the same (negative) results. As I may have said, I'm lucky to have such a source here in my general area, where I can actually do business face to face.

They don't ship powder or primers but they do stock them. You will need to call to see what they have on hand as it's not on the website.

Honest mistake considering I didn't say "where" I was coming from, to get to Raleigh. I make my home down east, in the Cherry Point/Camp Lejeune area of the state.

I got a note from Hodgdon yesterday that they are preparing to ship H4350 and Varget and have a good supply now on hand. Yippee.
I am ready to stock up.

Glad to hear H4350 is gonna start flowing again soon. Last I found was at a local gun show in Dec 2018. I picked up the last 2 jars they had at the show.
