So what did I just buy? Scope mount edition

Figured this is the right place to ask. I *think* this is an ELR mount, likely 30mm with 1” spacers. Ring tops look like smith enterprises/leupold ultra/badger.

Really just curious if anyone can identify it and tell me who made it. I enjoy moderately obscure things and this fits the bill.

Still in the mail but here are the seller’s pictures:

Vista (Revelyst) announces layoffs, including Bushnell

Here's the press release, but from the sound of it almost everyone at the Bushnell corporate offices got laid off yesterday. The guy that managed the Bushnell and RCBS account here was one of them, but he's probably going to pop back up here on a personal account.

I've kept in touch with quite a few people in OP, but I'm not sure yet if any of them survived the purge.

I'm going to keep my feelings to myself on this for now.

God's Army Convoy holds rally in nearby Dripping Springs, TX. on the way to the border.

Although one lady transplant expressed concern the crowd might be 'unpredictable', no businesses, car lots and police stations were burned. No business owners were stomped and beaten to death with skateboards. Zero looting.

It had more of a farmer's market atmosphere with the most volatile things said were by Sarah Palin who called the current government treasaonous and by Ted Nugent who called Pres. Poopy pants an 'evil scum snake.'

Drippin' is a Californian shit magnet and very illegal alien friendly. In the 2016 election, there was a 2 to 1 ratio of Hillary roadside placards to small Trump yard signs.

Oregon GOP state senators who staged walkout over abortion can't run for reelection, high court says.

The Oregon Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that 10 Republican state senators are ineligible to run for reelection after they participated in a quorum-denying walkout for six weeks last year to stall legislation on abortion, transgender treatments and firearms.
The high court decided in favor of Oregon Secretary of State LaVonne Griffin-Valade, who had disqualified the senators from running for office again after voters approved a measure in 2022 to amend the state constitution to ban lawmakers with more than 10 unexcused absences from running again.
The measure to prevent walkouts passed after GOP lawmakers staged other walkouts from the Legislature in 2019, 2020 and 2021.
Five of the 10 Republican state senators, Tim Knopp, Daniel Bonham, Suzanne Weber, Dennis Linthicum and Lynn Findle, had filed a lawsuit against the secretary of state over the decision.
The walkout, which was the longest in Oregon's history, resulted in hundreds of bills being stalled, according to The Associated Press.

Aero Solis long action…

I didn’t care too much about the short action release, but I’m tentatively excited about this one.

I’m not really interested in PRS shooting but I have been thinking thinking hard about putting together a lightweight 7 PRC rig for elk and western hunts. So this might fit the bill when it actually hits the market.

Rifle Scopes So I bought a “Just As Good”, Burris XTR3

So I bought one of these things to see what the hype is about, people are constantly comparing them to scopes costing $2K (and even more) claiming they’re as good or better. My only experience was shooting with one once on someone else’s rifle and I wasn’t very impressed. I tried to order one back in November but it was cancelled by the vendor with no explanation as to why. I came across one for under $800 delivered from another vendor so I decided to give it another try. I received it this morning and it’s indeed what it was supposed to be and not a refurb or blemished model like some retailers sell for similar pricing which I thought it might have been and misadvertised.

I bought it to go on a 22 bolt gun but decided to mount it up on my Seekins 223 DMR that’s a known good shooter to test it out first.

My initial thoughts are that it’s not bad but IMO comparing it to a $2K optic is a pretty exaggerated conclusion.

The glass is better than the other sample I was behind and I can’t see any noticeable CA in it so far but I’ve only been checking it out for a couple hours so far and at my house where it can only look at stuff to about 600 yards. The eyebox is generous and doesn’t do any weird stuff or have distortion if you move your head around a little. FOV is very good too. SCR 2 reticle is a great design and this illuminated version is very good on the low end and I can tell it would make a great crossover options.

The bad… There’s noticeable flaws in the overall build quality that is common with budget types scopes, and yes that is what these are. The knurling is absolute cheese grater status, I can’t imagine how bad the US made models that are supposedly worse must be.

The most noticeable thing is the play in the elevation turret, it has .05 mil of play so when you’re dialing up it basically goes half way to the next mark on the turret than what your actually on, you rotate back a little and can feel the detent. It’s honestly pretty bad and I would describe as very sloppy. Other than that the elevation feels nice, great tension, feel of the clicks, and audibility. If it wasn’t for the slop that’s on the extreme side I’d give it a 10/10 but the slop is bad enough I’d say it’s a 5/10.

The windage turret is stiff and mushy at the same time and almost non audible and you can barely feel the clicks. If I was going to put the external knob on I would care but I don’t dial wind so as long as it tracks to zero it I couldn’t care less what it feels like. Some people are very picky about their windage turrets but I’m not. If it cost twice what it did then I’d expect it to be better. It did come with the extra windage turret.

The parallax is stiff but not as stiff as the other sample I used. It’s acceptable but could be better. It’s not smooth at all when turning it and feels different throughout its revolution. The illumination knob cap sticking out beside it is like a circular saw blade. Really dumb design.

The magnification ring isn’t too stiff, I’d say just a little stiffer than just right so it’s not bad as far as that goes and better than the other sample I used which was very stiff. It’s pretty rough though. It feels almost gritty when turning it and it’s not an even tension throughout the range, it gets easier and stiffer as your turn it much like the parallax. I’ve worked it a good bit thinking maybe grease needed to be dispersed around in the erector but it hasn’t made a difference.

Overall for what I paid it’s not bad so far. This thing absolutely is not on par with a MK5, NX8, ATACR though that they constantly get compared to other than having a nice eyebox and maybe the glass being close (definitely not superior). On every sample of those mentioned optics I’ve used they have all had great feeling turrets with no play, proper tension on the controls and were smooth.

I’ll be shooting it tomorrow at the local range and will have it at a 1000 yard range in the next couple weeks to see how it tracks and how the glass holds up through mirage and heat and how the DOF is. I’ll update this thread with any problems and periodic updates at probably the 6 month and 1 year mark. I plan to keep this thing long term to see how it holds up to see if it has better reliability than the other Phillipino optics that I’ve had which has been pretty disappointing.

Ayanna Pressley Deems Walgreens Closures in Her District ‘Life-Threatening Acts’ of Racial Discrimination (BULLSHIT!)

Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., speaks at a news conference on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021, about plans to reintroduce a resolution to call on President Joe Biden to take executive action to cancel up to $50,000 in debt for federal student loan borrowers. (AP Photo/Andrew Harnik)

The latest Walgreens closure in Democrat Rep. Ayanna Pressley’s state of Massachusetts — namely, on Warren Street in Roxbury — is the result of racial discrimination, she claimed on the House floor.
“Mr. Speaker, Walgreens is planning to close yet another pharmacy in the Massachusetts Seventh — this time on Warren Street in Roxbury, a community that is 85 percent black and Latino,” she began, explaining that this closure is “part of a larger trend of abandoning low-income communities,” citing previous closures in her district.
“When a Walgreens leaves a neighborhood, they disrupt the entire community, and they take with them baby formula, diapers, asthma inhalers, life-saving medications, and, of course, jobs,” she continued, explaining her belief that these closures are “not arbitrary, and they are not innocent.”
“They are life-threatening acts of racial and economic discrimination. That is why I joined with Sen. Markey and Warren to demand answers from Walgreens’ CEO,” she continued, asking why there was no community input on the matter.
“No adequate notice to customers and no transition resources to prevent gaps in health care? Shame on you, Walgreens. Having a website with talking points about health equity and underserved communities is not enough,” Pressley continued.
“Walgreens is a multibillion-dollar corporation that needs to put their money where their mouth is,” she continued:

— End Wokeness (@EndWokeness) January 31, 2024
According to WCVB, “It’s the latest Walgreens to shut its doors in recent years, one of approximately 200 store closings the company said would be coming in 2024.”
While this move appears to be due just to downsizing as previously planned, Pressley failed to bring attention to the wider trend of not just Walgreens but other popular retailers— including Walmart, Target, and Best Buy — being forced to shut down stores throughout the entire United States due to the trend of rising crime and theft.

House fires suck

Before I share some photos, I am not making this post in an effort to get any donations or gear. We are well taken care of, no injuries, and I am hoping insurance will pull through on a lot of this stuff. And maybe someone has experience with this that can offer any advice on how to handle insurance.

We had a house fire Tuesday late afternoon. Started in the garage (they think just a spontaneous combustion of some sort). My wife had gone out to run some errands so it was just me, my two kids (4&3), and two dogs at home. I had been outside all afternoon, but had gone inside for about 10 minutes with my little girl came in and told me there was a fire in the garage. I had no idea where my little boy was so I took a couple trips through the garage and through the house trying to find him. Luckily, I was able to find him in the back bedroom, but by the time I got back to the fire, it was too big to contain with a hose.

The entire garage burned including two cars and a rzr. All my reloading set up and shooting gear was in the garage. Luckily, my safe was in a back bedroom. The entire house will probably be a loss as most of the trusses burned and the rest is soaking in water and smokey.

Anyway just thought I’d share some pics from the carnage as I’ve spent the last two days sifting through the garage with a rake.

- RCBS rock chucker that was my dads
- SAC barrel vise that I had just purchased over Christmas time. Super surprised at how well this held up to the heat. But I can’t find all the bushings
- The remains of my shooting bag. Had a bunch of mags but all I could find were these two and an Area 419 brake
- a couple dies. RCBS matchmaster that hadn’t been used yet and a Redding seating die
- the head to a leofoto tripod is also just purchased
- viper barrel vise
- lasts two are what’s left of my rzr and 4 runner

Damn grateful that we were all safe. All this stuff can be replaced but lives can’t.
