Those pesky Amish at it again…

7 and 12…. They are just “Amish-let’s.”

But had enough planning to go get surgical gloves.

I wonder… if woman had shot them, would Houston be burning already? Or would it take a day for the Amish to be organized by the outside activists? Enquiring minds want to know!!

Kamala Harris Claps Along to Puerto Rican Protest Song Before Realizing It’s About Her!

Vice President Kamala Harris had an embarrassing fumble during a Friday visit to Puerto Rico, where she was spotted clapping along to a protest song against her before an aide translated the lyrics.
After delivering remarks in the territory’s capital of San Juan, Harris stopped by the neighborhood of Santurce to tour the Goyoco community center and hear from community leaders, Fox News reports.
A group of protesters holding signs with messages, including “Kamala Harris war criminal,” and calling the United States “genocidal” met the vice president outside of the community center, along with a band playing music.
Video captured the hilarious moment when Harris went from smiling and clapping along to dropping her hands when a staffer next to her reportedly translated the Spanish lyrics.
“We want to know, Kamala, what did you come here for? We want to know what you think of the colony,” an activist sang, accompanied by percussion instruments.
The song also included the lyrics “Long live Free Palestine and Haiti too,” according to Puerto Rican journalist Istra Pacheco.
After Harris seemed to realize what the song was about, she nodded and folded her hands in front of her.
The vice president’s visit marked her first trip to the Caribbean island since entering office.
Before heading over to Santurce, Harris visited a home outside San Juan that had been rebuilt through a federal program following damage sustained during Hurricane Maria, Fox News reported.
Accompanied by Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm, Deputy Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Adrianne Todman, and Puerto Rico Gov. Pedro Pierluisi, Harris touted the Biden administration’s aid to the territory.
“What we all need to do then is just supply the community and the talent here with the capacity and the resources. And so, President Joe Biden and I have been very intentional about what we are doing for the leaders and the people and the families of Puerto Rico,” she said. “So far, our administration has invested over $140 billion in Puerto Rico.”

Surgeon 591

Good Day,

I am looking for some help in barrel selection for my Surgeon SA 591 .308 Repeater. This action has never been used and i am thinking to start build with it. I am looking into Bartlein and Krieger barrels. However I am unsure of what measurements ie. thread pitch and length I may need to order. Current idea is a M24 profile, 1/8 5R, 24 in. I have only been in precision shooting for about two years now. Please let me know what advice you may have. Thanks!

A good hand chamfer/deburr tool.

After a few years off, I’m back loading for precision rifle again. I started chamfering and deburring (I do it by hand because I’m pretty low volume), and my deburring tool is creating a nasty ridge on the case mouth. Assuming it’s dull and just pushing metal.

Can anyone recommend a solid hand held deburr/chamfer tool? Hard to make decisions when the internet is chock full of choices , but I can’t get hands on.

Loading for 223 fwiw.

Geissele GFR Maritime Reconnaissance 6mm arc write up and review

Seems to be very little info out on these so I thought I’d give my impressions on the rifle and do a small review. Until recently I had avoided the 6 arc as it never really gathered my attention. Also hearing of multiple issues with bolt breakage and reliability issues I stayed clear.
Then comes me scouring the internet for something to spend money on. I came across the gfr and was intrigued. I’m admittedly a Kac fanboy and part of that reason is because they keep trying to push the stoner platform further. In my opinion they’ve been extremely successful in doing so. Reading the details on the gfr it seems Geissele really designed the rifle from the ground up to run 6 arc reliably. This caught my attention and wanted to see and try some of these advancements my self. Here’s what geissele has to say about the gfr and what makes it different.

IMG_9976.jpeg

I’ll go from the back of the rifle to the front offering my thoughts.

STOCK-I was a fan of this stock handling it in the house. It’s a very sleek design and contours the face well. I like the adjustment lever placement and the qd points. With that said I really struggled to use this stock with a rear bag. So much so I ended up shooting all groups from a lead sled because I just couldn’t get comfortable. Will probably be swapping it for something else.
IMG_9981.jpeg

RECEIVER EXTENSION- seems to be quality 6 pos extension. Solid rich anodizing and good machining.

CASTLE NUT AND END PLATE- Both the end plate and castle nut are made by Geissele. The castle nut was staked twice. I’d like to see a little more material displaced here as it was a little weak for my taste in the staking. The end plate comes with a qd point in the very rear and seems to be well made.

IMG_9982.jpeg

RECEIVERS- Both the upper and lower receiver are standard forged receivers. With that said the upper has a riveted steel insert inside for the cam pin travel. Also the forward assist has been moved forward to allow clearance for charging the rifle when using bigger optics. I really like this change and can tell it’s easier to get my fingers around the charging handle with a bigger optic on top.
The lower in my opinion should have some type of ambi controls built in. I personally don’t use them but it’s 2024 and most manufacturers are incorporating this in to their rifles. Especially something of this cost.
There is also a built in plunger to keep the slop to a minimum. In my opinion this makes them a little too tight to where it can be difficult to remove the takedown pins.
IMG_9983.jpeg

BOLT CATCH/RELEASE- I believe this is what Geissele calls their maritime catch. I have no complaints and it’s nice and big with good checkering. As said on the receiver section I would have liked to have seen an ambi catch/release on the right side of the rifle.

PISTOL GRIP- I like this pistol grip a lot. Has a very good feel to it and very little angle which I prefer. It reminds of the b5 grip which I put on most everything.

MAG RELEASE- The mag release is the same texture as the bolt catch which I like. No complaints other then wishing their was two.

SAFETY- They did make the safety ambi which is my main preference on a safety. The left side is like a standard lever. With the right side being shortened so it doesn’t interfere with your grip. Works great.

TRIGGER- Geissele states this is a version of their ssae trigger. It’s a very nice 2 stage trigger with a good break and reset. No complaints

TRIGGER GAURD- Big oversized trigger gaurd perfect for gloves etc.

CHARGING HANDLE- The charging handle is marked “super charging handle” I assume this is the same one used in their super duty line. I REALLY like this charging handle. Allows plenty of leverage and good texturing for grip.

HANDGAURD- If it’s one thing Geissele is known for it’s for their handgaurds. Some people love them some hate them. I’m a fan of this one and the profile of it. It fits my little girl hands really well. It has two steel qd inserts and a notch that goes in to the receiver to prevent rotation.
IMG_9984.jpeg

BARREL- The model I chose came with an 18 inch chrome lined barrel. The barrel has a nice contour to it. It’s thick where you want it and lighter to the end.

MUZZLE DEVISE- It came with a Hux flash hider. I feel this is probably going to be the main thing replaced by everyone due to the variety of suppressor models everyone owns. I went ahead and ordered the hux 6k to try it and have a complete system.

BUFFER AND SPRING- Comes with the super 42 braided spring and an h2 buffer. It’s a nice addition.

BOLT CARRIER GROUP- The bolt itself is supposed to be made of some special sauce carpenter 158. This is one of the features that interested me. Has a one directional cam pin which is nice. Staking on the key is fine but could be considered on the light side. Also coated in something Geissele calls nano weapon coating. Seems pretty slick 🤷🏻‍♂️.
IMG_9986.jpeg

MAGAZINE- These rifles come with Geissele branded 6 arc mags. These were developed specifically for the cartridge and the GFR. I had no feeding issues and it loaded easily. The bummer though? It ships with just one 8 rounder. At the very minimum I’d like a 15 round mag and maybe include several of them. These mags seem nice but they’re also pretty dang expensive.
IMG_9985.jpeg

ANODIZING- I’m a big fan of the ddc color and anodizing. I like the 50 shades of fde look while I can see where some people would not. This goes to say that everyone knows ODG is the one true color and I would love to have this rifle in 50 shades of odg.

ACCURACY PORTION
I initially bought 3 factory loads to try. All three loads were chronoed using my Garmen xero.

1. Hornady black 105 grn bthp. I only was able to shoot 2 5 shot groups with this load due to using it for my sight in. All 20 rounds were chronoed though.

Avg moa- 1.18 moa
Avg velocity-2493 fps
Std deviation-14.5 fps
Extreme spread-65.9 fps
IMG_9973.jpeg

2.Hornady match 108 grn eld. 4 5 shot groups

Avg moa- 0.959 moa
Avg velocity-2546 fps
Standard deviation-13.3 fps
Extreme spread- 42.5 fps
IMG_9975.jpeg

3. Hornady eld v match 80 grn. I only shot 10 round total of this with 2 5 shot groups. Not sure what the deal is but the groups were terrible. I expected to go down range and see keyholes from what I was witnessing through my scope. The only thing I can chalk it up to is the twist rate is to fast. Can’t for the life of me find what twist Geissele is using (would be nice info to know Bill)

Avg moa- 4.53 moa
Avg velocity- 2757 fps
Standard deviation-10.7
Extreme spread- 36.7

IMG_9972.jpeg

All groups were shot using a lead sled. A Zeiss s3 4-25 mounted in a reptillia mount was used for all shooting.

That’s my write up. Going through my head and doing the math I really didn’t pay much more then I would have on a full build to my liking. I also wouldn’t have been able to get some the features that the GFR offers which is why I went this route. I think I’m really going to like the rifle and am pretty happy with the accuracy for a chrome lined barrel. With reloads I expect those groups to shrink to close 3/4 moa. Let’s be honest hornady factory ammo isn’t what it used to be. Or at least in my experience. As far as the v match goes I’m going to have to revisit that. I was hoping to use that round for thermal yote killing. If you have any particular questions feel free to ask and I’ll try to answer them!

Disclaimer*** I typed this all out on my iPhone so there may be mistakes. My computer crapped out on me so this was challenging !

State Farm discontinuing 72,000 home policies in California in latest blow to state insurance market

The Associated Press

Insurance giant State Farm says it will discontinue coverage for 72,000 houses and apartments in California starting this summer
State Farm discontinuing 72,000 home policies in California in latest blow to state insurance marketThe Associated PressSACRAMENTO, Calif.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — State Farm will discontinue coverage for 72,000 houses and apartments in California starting this summer, the insurance giant said this week, nine months after announcing it would not issue new home policies in the state
The Illinois-based company, California’s largest insurer, cited soaring costs, the increasing risk of catastrophes like wildfires and outdated regulations as reasons it won’t renew the policies on 30,000 houses and 42,000 apartments, the Bay Area News Group reported Thursday.
“This decision was not made lightly and only after careful analysis of State Farm General’s financial health, which continues to be impacted by inflation, catastrophe exposure, reinsurance costs, and the limitations of working within decades-old insurance regulations,” the company said in a statement Wednesday.
“State Farm General takes seriously our responsibility to maintain adequate claims-paying capacity for our customers and to comply with applicable financial solvency laws,” it continued. “It is necessary to take these actions now.”
The move comes as California’s elected insurance commissioner undertakes a yearlong overhaul of home insurance regulations aimed at calming the state’s imploding market by giving insurers more latitude to raise premiums while extracting commitments from them to extend coverage in fire-risk areas, the news group said.
The California Department of Insurance said State Farm will have to answer question from regulators about its decision to discontinue coverage.
“One of our roles as the insurance regulator is to hold insurance companies accountable for their words and deeds,” Deputy Insurance Commissioner Michael Soller said. “We need to be confident in State Farm’s strategy moving forward to live up to its obligations to its California customers.”
It was unclear whether the department would launch an investigation.
Last June, State Farm said it would stop accepting applications for all business and personal lines of property and casualty insurance, citing inflation, a challenging reinsurance market and “rapidly growing catastrophe exposure.”
The company said the newly announced cancellations account for just over 2% of its California policies. It did not say where they are located or what criteria it used to determine that they would not be renewed.

Ivan's done playing.

At lease they have not went down the same road they did, to the family's of the Iranian hostage takers who took Russian hostages, when they too ours back in the late 70's. Putins guys must have mellowed a little.
I hope they find the root planners and give them some group therapy as well, No Matter Who They Are.

Former Republican National Chair Chair Ronna McDaniel: I Do Not Support Freeing January 6 Convicts

Former Republican National Committee chairwoman and NBC News contributor Ronna McDaniel said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that “there were problems” with the 2020 election.
Host Kristen Welker said, “Donald Trump says one of his first acts if he is re-elected to a second term would be, quote, to free those charged and convicted of crimes related to January 6th. Do you support that?”
McDaniel said, “I want to be very clear: the violence that happened on January 6 is unacceptable. It doesn’t represent our country. It certainly does not represent my party. We should not be attacking the Capitol. We should not be having violence. I said it that day. I put a statement out that day that this is not acceptable. If you attacked our Capitol and you have been convicted, then that should stay.”
Welker said, “So then to the question, though, do you disagree with Trump saying that he’ll free them?”
McDaniel said, “I do not think that people who committed violent acts on January 6th should be free.”
She added, “I don’t think violence should be in our political discourse, Republican or Democrat, and I disagree with that. I agree with him on a whole host of other things. Let’s close the border. Let’s make sure we have good incomes for people. Let’s make sure we do a lot of great things, but on that point, I don’t think we should be freeing people who violently attacked Capitol Hill police officers and attacked the Capitol.”

AND THERE YOU HAVE IT BOYS AND GIRLS!!

The "a chassis should not need to be bedded" myth........

The topic comes up ever so many months and you'll find quite a lot of people will chime in with the blind "you shouldn't have to bed a chassis" line. The recent "what the pros use" chassis article from Precision Rifle Blog revealed some numbers I think many will find surprising. Before getting into the article, let's get one point out of the way:

For that to be a universal truth (chassis should not require bedding), it would mean that any chassis that requires bedding to remove something like a zero shift.......is by default a defective chassis. But, you'll find that most of the time when a chassis requires bedding that it is easily within manufacturing specs and all but identical to a chassis of the same brand that doesn't require bedding. So, you can't have it both ways. Either chassis are subject to bedding when needed, or chassis requiring bedding must be defective.

Here is a screenshot from the article pertaining to MPA. There were 50 shooters in the top 200 using an MPA chassis of some sort. Just shy of 50% of those 50 shooters have their chassis bedded. Everyone in the top 20 with an MPA chassis reported their chassis to be bedded.

The TLDR version: it's impossible for universal fit bedding areas will match up to every action enough that bedding will never be required by a properly machined chassis.

It's perfectly fine not to bed a chassis. However, I'd encourage anyone who insists you shouldn't have to bed a chassis to take some time and either rationally reevaluate your opinion, or do some impact testing on various chassis (you'll find that many will experience some zero shift of some sort).

Here we go again. This crap is exactly why Republicans are always on the losing end. Our party has pissed away the majority. He somehow managed to "acquire" a multi-million dollar mansion in the process.....imagine that

Oh and he chose to leave on a date that will force the seat to remain vacant until the November elections

I make Alabama my home, But I was born in Scottsbluff Where my dad was from, and spent my 1st few years living in my mom's hometown of Torrington. Still have family there. Here all this time I thought WY was just as red as Bama?! https://share.newsbreak.com/6h734xu0

Wyoming governor vetoes concealed weapons bill allowed in Alabama

Wyoming Republican Governor Mark Gordon has vetoed a bill that would have allowed people to carry concealed guns in public schools and government meetings. Critics says the decision is an infringement on the second amendment. The National Conference of State Legislatures says Alabama is among the states enabling permit holders to have concealed guns in schools.

Gunsmithing Impact 737 not ejecting spent case

Purchased my first impact from a hide member.

About 3% of the time, the spent case does not eject from the action. My first run with this action was a 1 day. I had 3 jams in the match. It seems to do it more on slow cycles.

I took spent brass and chambered it. Ejected it slowly and it is hitting the opening on the action and bouncing back into the action. When I run it slow that way, it’ll throw it back in the action about 90% of the time.

I read some solutions to possibly fix that problem in other actions. The most replied solutions was to buy an impact!

Any help is appreciated
