Best AR caliber for hog hunting with supressor

I currently have an 20 inch .224 Valkyrie that I use for hogs. I don't hunt them very often, but I'm looking for a different upper or new rifle to use with my supressor. Since I have the supressor I would like a 16 inch for maneuverability. So what caliber would be best? Also recoil plays a factor since my elderly dad will be shooting it as well. TIA

Firearms Rem 700 barreled action (price drop)

Looking to sell this renington 700 barreled action was blueprinted and trued before I got it. Believe it's a 24 inch mtu barrel 1-8 twist .260 tac match barrel NF 20 moa base,
dead air muzzle brake and believe jewel trigger set at 8 ounces with fluted bolt. Work was done by T&J tactical has oversized lug. This was chambered (not by me previous owner) to shoot box ammo so not sure how long of OAL you can go but shoots the hornady and berger box ammo I have 1/3 moa have shot 1/4 a few times. I would say roughly 1500 rounds total and I have no reloads down this barrel I'm not sure about original owner. Action is super smooth setup is a laser but going to go a bit lighter on setup. I have roughly 13 boxes of match ammo I can sell along with brass and some dies (I think I bought pre-owned and never used). Will accept venmo, pp ff, zelle. FFL must accept from individuals.900 shipped

Visiting American Battlefields

Does anyone else on the Hide make a point to visit American Battlefields? I'm fortunate that my present location allows me to visit the Antietam & Gettysburg battlefields easily and Valley Forge & Fort Necessity are all within a comfortable drive as well. I've personally adopted as a collectible mindset to pick up a stoneware coffee mug from each battlefield I visit. Does anyone else here take the time to visit this sites or is it just me?

IT'S REAL - Leaked Crimean Bridge attack conversation is real

Western source: France24
Germany's Scholz vows probe into 'very serious' leak of army talks on Ukraine war
A German defence ministry spokeswoman confirmed to AFP that the ministry believed a conversation in the air force division was "intercepted".

"We are currently unable to say for certain whether changes were made to the recorded or transcribed version that is circulating on social media," the spokeswoman said.

The head of Russia's state-backed RT channel, Margarita Simonyan, posted Friday the 38-minute audio recording of what she claimed were German army officers discussing potential strikes on Crimea in a February 19 videoconference.

LPVO or red dot for general purpose and SHTF truck gun

What are you running, and what advantages does your choice have over the other?

Debating replacing my MRO with a LPVO.

Except for better target ID, is there an advantage in real terms for a SHTF truck gun?

Went to Thunder Ranch a while back wit the Mrs. She was running a red dot, me an LPVO. Hit percentages were pretty close out to 300 yards.

Triggertech diamond issues. HELP

I just got a brand new trigger tech diamond single stage trigger. I installed it on my badger ordnance m2013 rifle. When you run the bolt fast or slow, the rifle will not cock. Just let's the firing pin drop when locking it. I removed the trigger and put the timney hit back in it and it works fine. I took the trigger tech back out and installed it in my remington 700. The bolt will cock if run slow and gentle but if you cycle quickly at all it drops the firing pin. That's two rifles it does not work in. Is there a solution? Am I doing something wrong? I've installed properly 40 triggers with no issues until now. I called triggertech and left a message yesterday but did not get a call back and it's now the weekend and this is eating away at me.

Producing Ammo with Low SD's

Perhaps some more experienced reloaders can comment.

What is the biggest indicator of producing low SD's in ammo? Is it bullet selection, powder selection(powder burn rate), primers, case fill, consistency of brass, or some combination of the above?

I have a new 6gt competition barrel which is shooting really tight groups on paper, but the SD's have been around 20 for a 25 shot sample size. This is with virgin Alpha brass and a barrel round count around 100. Running 112 Matchburners with 37GN of H4350 behind them and cci 450's. I'm hoping the SD's will drop once the barrel is fully broken in, I'll start load development at that point and perhaps experiment with some faster burning powders behind 109 Bergers.

Questions about SCAR 20s

I’ve always wanted a FDE SCAR and I think I might be able to swing the purchase for Christmas 2024.

A few questions first.

I’m leaning towards 6.5 creedmore for more BC and want the 20” barrel. I reload and will be making my own ammo so what kind of accuracy can I expect?

Also, I would like to suppress the gun. I was talking to a guy at the range and he had the exact same set up I want. We both have a dead air sandman S and he was having issues with getting the gun to function correctly. Is this just the way the gun was designed?

What is everyone’s overall thoughts on their SCAR rifles?

Finding lands giving me fits.

I apologize for the couple threads I’ve posted lately, getting back into the reloading game after some time off.

I’m trying to find the lands on a 223 and I just can’t figure this out. I have a smith chambered 223, with an origin action .

I have measured factory ammo (fired) with a headspace of 1.459” (using Hornady comparator), the fireformed brass is nearly identical at 1.460”. I also have virgin starline brass measuring at 1.460” (+\- .001, surprisingly consistent).

It appears my 223 chamber is on the shorter side. No issue there, got it. I have even put a piece of scotch tape on the back of a case (unfired, same match ammo) and it will no longer chamber without resistance. So I’m confident my measurements are correct.

Now comes the part that’s getting me…. Finding the lands. I take a piece of virgin brass (which is very close to my chamber size, but confirmed it fits with no resistance on bolt close) and using the wheeler method, keep seating the bullet back until the bolt closes easily (firing pin assembly removed). The zermatt always has a smidge of resistance due to the gas block, but it’s extremely light.

So I starting seating bullets , get a hard stop, seat it farther, get a hard stop, rinse and repeat. I finally get to a point where the bolt is “mushy” on bolt close. The problem is, it stays mushy no matter how much farther I seat that bullet back. I figured once the bullet didn’t touch the lands, it would close extremely easily.

I took a reading on my Hornady comparator of the CBTO for when the mushiness started, 1.960”. Then made a dummy round for 1.960” just to confirm, and the bolt was at a hard stop again.

I cannot figure this out for the life of me.
