Up for sale is a Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x24 contract scope with the Recon Army-Spec markings. This is not one of the commercially released optics from 2015, but rather one of the real MK12 Contract optics. These featured mil-dot reticles with MOA turrets. 1 MOA elevation and 0.5 MOA windage adjustments.

This scope is in great condition with the original tag on it still. Glass is clean, as is the body.

Just finished review/testing this Green Mountain 224 barrel for accuracy. I shot a lot of GM 22lr barrels and they straight hammer so I wanted to do a little accuracy review/test on their centerfire barrels. First up was this 224 blank and it did not disappoint at all!

Hey guys, I have a question.
Looking to get another rifle probably in the next 6 months. I have built 1 rifle and customized a Rem 700. Both are 6.5 Creedmoor.
The Built Rifle - Big Horn Origin action with a 20” straight jacket armory custom barrel in an AG Composite stock.
The Rem 700 - Rem 700 with OWM barrel cut down to 22”, for looks, fluted bolt with threaded and skeletonized handle in a Magpul Hunter stock.
Other Built Rifle - Big Horn Origin, 24” Ctriterion barrel using barrel nut in a KRG Bravo, this is .308 WIN.

Question here is this.
I am thinking of getting another rifle. Should I build it? Should I just buy an off the shelf rifle like the Bergara B14 HMR Pro? Or just bite the bullet and purchase the rifle from a custom shop like GA Precision? Looking at 300 Win Mag or maybe 7PRC.
Building will be about $2700
Off the rack will be about $1600?
Custom Shop will be about $5500?

I do not have an Off the rack rifle and honestly never have. I keep hearing the Bergaras are excellent and very accurate rifles. Are the Big Horn actions (or any custom action) that much better than th shelf rifles?
I do not do any competitions or hunt. These are strictly for fun. Probably will be doing 2-3 long range precision training classes a year, but that is pretty much it.

TLDR: How have you dealt with a subcontractor (I mean, trade partner) that has had repeated safety issue & near misses, but firing them is also risky?

Some context: I work in a resort town, so already, relationships between GCs and subs are different that in bigger markets. I'm a site super, 3 story apartment building, relatively big project. Especially since covid, there isn't a long line of subs within 1 hour who want to do big projects. I don't have formal training in the industry beyond OSHA 10, less than 5 years of experience in construction, a decade in project management. We have a 3rd-party safety audit every 2 weeks. One sub who has a dozen guys on site daily has a rap sheet of safety issues a mile long.

If a subcontractor has an accident on our jobsite, as the GC, we will be partially liable. To my understanding this is an example of what can happen: Fall Protection violation by a sub = we're fined $15K; if a second fall violation occurs by *any* sub within 2 years on *any* of our company's jobsites = GC is fines $150,000

I kinda get why GCs are liable, they control the money and could pressure a sub to operate unsafely. That's not the case here, most of these guys are our neighbors, its a small valley. I dislike that I have to play the role of safety police A) I don't have time for it B) On principal, if I've told someone to do something once, muchless 20 times, they should fix it.

Question to the Bear Pit GCs: How have you gotten peace of mind after a subcontractor has had repeated safety issues? Thanks for reading & Merry Christmas

I presume it is a suppressed SBR. Is it a 300 blackout gun or something more powerful like a 308? If so, which? The DDM4 V7P seems great, but possibly the barrel is too long at 10.3”? What suppressor, short or long?

For attachments, I would prefer an EXPS3-0, Cloud Rein 3.0, flip up irons, and a VFG. That’s all I think it would need as this would be used as a room clearing and short engagement distance gun.

I set some goals for myself for 2023 and surprisingly I hit almost all of them. I shot more than 6 pistol matches, I shot a bunch of 22 rifle matches, I hit a target at a mile. Add on I shot a 2 gun team match, even though I sucked and was totally unprepared I learned a ton, and know what I need to do to prepare for the next one. At the last 22 match I tied for 5th with a guy that is a legit good, also I shot 89% of what the winner shot, I was pretty proud of that.

The goal for 2024 is to shoot pistols good. Maybe run some 2 gun matches. Also would like to go to the rimfire academy at Rifles Only. Maybe sign up for a USPSA membership and go take a range officer class.

The Pirate seems to know whats going on when it comes to USPSA pistol shooting.
So Pirate, what do you suggest? Books, websites, places to read up? Videos, guys to watch and follow? Drills and practice?
A few things I know I need to do is run the timer and draw from a holster and dry fire. Also shooting weak hand. Looking over a stage and being able to know ahead of time where to reload, where to shoot fast and slow, what order to shoot targets in so I can get off the last target fastest and move to the next position...
And loosing a bunch of weight so I move faster...
