And while that was a joke it does make me wonder how many mags people typically store for each weapon. I don’t mean for a load out on your plate carrier to larp around the basement. So, I was at the range today. Al things going well and good. Set my rifle to the side for the barrel to cool, pick it back up and get an error that the bayonett is unplugged, when it was plugged in and working fine 10 min before. Anyone run into this?

Making a range for personal use for me and my wife, a few friends will join us time to time. Looking for what size platforms will be adequate for up to 3 shooters. I was set on 10x12 but now I’m thinking possibly 10x16. I will be setting it on 4 poles buried and concrete in place. Went today to drop everything off on the property and start working ground for the range and platform.

Some ideas and pictures of any you have built or used for inspiration would be great.

Totally newb at semi auto rifles and I'm sorry if this has been asked before.

Due to legislative changes (not US resident) it seems semi auto rifles might be available on a hunters licence and that has started me entertaining a thought of getting one.

It requires though that the barrell is at least 18" and it can not be a "build" due to parts availability. Ideally it would have the same precision as my TRG, if that is even possible.

Budget wise I would say $3000 which is about what a Daniel Defece at spec would cost me where I'm at.

Will mainly be used from a blind, but wheight is a factor. As light as possible I suppose.

But is DD the only option? Aero Precision? Or is a Ruger SFAR enough? Any other OOTB rifle good enough?

Any comment appreciated.

I’m fighting myself over “upgrading” from my Leupold VXIII 3.5-10x40 LR/T illuminated mil dot reticle with M1 turrets. Seems like these scopes have a good reputation and from what I see for sale they hold their value well. The more I read the more I’m wondering if it’s not much of an upgrade.

I find myself wanting more magnification and an updated reticle. Looking at a Vortex Viper PST gen II 5-25x50.

I feel like the magnification would be a benefit for shooting groups (300 yards at my local range) but the updated reticle and matching turrets would be a bigger benefit.

Rifle is a 700 SPS in .308. Bell and Carlson Medalist stock.

So talk me off the ledge or push me off the ledge.

So I've done a search and can't find anything relevant so I figured I'd just ask. I want to make a couple dozen dummy rounds for centerfire rifle using spent brass and new bullets. However, I'd like to color the dummy rounds so that they are easily identifiable . I'm wondering what a good method would be to blacken/dye the case and or bullet so that they stand out. I know there are some smart folks here that have been there-done that.

I am decided between the MRAD and SRS A2..

I am looking to try my hand at a few NRL Hunter matches next year and from the research I have done it appears that having a LRF Bino is the way to go in order to save time spotting/ranging on each stage. Looking into all of the LRF Binos currently on the market it also appears that there's a lot left to be desired in this market as well. You can have alpha glass but crap ballistic software or no way to connect to a Kestrel or possibly even no AB software at all. Then there's those with mediocre glass but a busy screen or multiple function buttons needing to be hit in order to get all of your info, or some crazy colored glass that hurts your visibility in certain scenarios, etc. It appears that there's no clear winner at the moment in this segment as they all have some sort of compromise.

So, for those of you who compete in NRL Hunter, what are you using and why? Are you happy with your choice or are you looking to move to something else and for what reasons? I am simply looking to buy something specifically for this event as I am still a big fan of having quality binos and a separate LRF monocular for the actual hunting that I do. Help me buy once and move on to other decisions like which bipod I should be using for this as well haha.
