Looking for a .223

Hello, new to the forum sorta. Been lurking for awhile off and on. I’m looking to get my first bolt action .223 and would like some input in some somewhat budget options. I would like something that I can later get upgrades such as a stock or chassis system. I have quite a few ar’s, a howa 1500 in 6.5cm and a savage model 10 in .308. This will be strictly a fun range gun, I enjoy the .223 and have wanted a bolt action for awhile. Thanks in advance!!

Gas vs diesel

Hey all, I’m in the market for a new truck. I currently daily an f150 and my work truck is a 6.7 powerstroke f350 dually, with a service body.

I recently bought a 7x14 dump trailer. It’s got a gvw of 12,000 lbs. I’ve already had a few loads of stone and clean fill from some footers I just dug. I also co-own a 3.5 ton mini excavator I haul in the trailer when I need to.

So my issue is this… when I use the service body dually I have a tendency to get pulled over and weighed. It’s happened 4 times so far, it’s not so much the fact I get pulled over it’s the fact I’m on the side of the road for an hour and a half to two hours, while a trooper crawls all over my shit looking for things he can give me a ticket for.

The F150 doesn’t have the balls to haul 12k and I wouldn’t even attempt it.

So I’m looking into 3/4 ton and 1 ton single rear wheel trucks. I don't really want another diesel, but I’m not sure the gas trucks in my budget ($30k) have what it takes to tow a trailer of that weight semi frequently. The last thing I want to do is move into a truck that still can’t accomplish the task I need it to do.

Anybody tow heavy with a 2012-2016 3/4 ton gasser? Should I just suck it up and buy another diesel?

Welcome to the big Apple 🙈

My next door neighbors took a trip to NYC couple of days ago. Both in early 30’s , never been out of Arkansas except on their way to the Redneck Rivera. Memphis was the biggest city either had been in.
Decided to get on the subway. They heard some fool harrasing people , next thing ya know a dude (former Marine) it turned out took over and was choking him out 😆 !! It Worked ….for eternity. Been there less than hour 😂
They holed up in their hotel until their flight back , vowed never to go back 😁 Smart move !
He always packs heat here , said he never felt as helpless.🇺🇸

And you thought movies and TV sucked now...just wait!

This is so F'n rich....only in Hollywood.
Actor Richard Dreyfuss is not a fan of the Academy Awards’ new diversity guidelines.

Officials announced in 2020 that beginning in 2024, movies must meet certain criteria for representation to be eligible for the Academy Award for best picture.

Films have to meet at least two of four benchmarks, which cover – among other things – whether the lead actors are from underrepresented groups or if at least 30% of the cast and crew come from these groups.

Forced ethnicity hires, and I thought it was all voluntarily done ?

Firearms GA Precision 308

I’ve had these parts for many years. I collected them off the hide. The action I was told from a very honest member that GAP had trued the Remington 700 action and did the side bolt release. The barrel also came from a honest member of the hide and he told me the MTU barrel only had 80 rounds down it. He switched to another caliber. The barrel is threaded, I dont know the pitch. It’s not 5/8 24 though. It’s 25” long. Don’t know the twist. The stamp is from Eric Reid from back in the day. The previous owner removed the serial number.

Any experience with Douglas barrels?

I know Douglas has been famous for their barrels for a long time but other than that I have no real experience with their barrels. So I guess my first question is anyone here use them with good success? And lastly and more importantly has anyone had them true up an action and barrel it? Looking to see if their gunsmiths do good work. Thinking about sending an action off to them for barreling.

Thanks guys.

Effect on precision by chopping down and threading muzzle on known shooter

I have a Savage 12LRP in 6.5 Creed with the full length 1" thick bull barrel (26" bbl). It's my best shooting rifle, putting 5rds in less than 1/2" more often than not. But it is heavy and doesn't have a threaded muzzle. I don't really enjoy shooting unsuppressed anymore, so I want to make it handier and throw my can on it.
I realize there are probably a lot of variables involved, but would I likely be able to achieve the same precision (as unmolested) after chopping the barrel to 18-20" and having it threaded for the can? Or is that a bad idea and I shouldn't mess with a great shooting gun? Thanks for any advice.

Colorado Councilwoman Wants to Tax White-Owned Businesses to Atone for ‘Stolen Land’

Candi CdeBaca

A Denver city councilwoman facing a runoff election in June said white-owned businesses should pay reparations for the sins of slavery.
During a business forum, Candi CdeBaca — a Democrat socialist — said the race-based tax could be levied by the business improvement districts, as first reported by 9News. A business improvement district is managed by local business owners, residents, and local government officials and can levy incremental tax increases which are then redistributed in a specific geographic region, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Denver City Council member Candi CdeBaca, who is running for re-election, says white owned businesses should be taxed extra and redistributed to black owned businesses. pic.twitter.com/s9JhSdAmtj
— Libs of TikTok (@libsoftiktok) May 5, 2023
“Capitalism was built on stolen land, stolen labor, and stolen resources,” CdeBaca told the Greater Metro Denver Ministerial Alliance, 9 News reported. “You could be collecting those extra taxes from white-led businesses all over the city and redistributing them to black and brown-owned businesses.”
While a tax levy can be distributed to assist underserved businesses, the tax can’t be applied based on an individual’s skin color. That would be illegal under federal law, but the 37-year-old argued this plan would not be illegal since the taxes levied are “voluntary.”
A spokesperson for Denver’s Department of Finance told 9 News this was false.
“Non-residentially assessed property owners within the BID are required to pay the additional taxes/fees,” said spokesperson Courtney Meihls. “It’s not voluntary.”
Footage of CdeBaca became viral after being picked up by the Libs of TikTok page, garnering the video more than 4 million views. Critics have said this proposal is going too far.
“This is the third time CdeBaca has been targeted by a white nationalist mob, and this is part of a concerted playbook to harass, intimidate, and silence progressives and in particular, marginalized communities,” CdeBaca’s office said in a written statement.
But black urban areas are not the only communities at a disadvantage. The Appalachian Regional Commission considered 38.6% Appalachia counties — a predominant white population — to be economically distressed. These disadvantages include greater geographic isolation, less public transportation, and fewer health screenings and physicians available, as reported in a National Library of Medicine paper.
CdeBaca attributes her idea to the San Francisco Legacy Business Program. Since 2015, the program has redistributed funds to underserved communities, but the funding does not come from taxing only white businesses.
