Ran 50 cases of once fired Lapua 6.5 Creedmoor SRP brass through my tumbler this evening. I used SS pin media with water and a cap full of Hornady one shot brass cleaner. Afterwards I was inspecting them and found two cases were majorly pitted and seemed to have eroded throughout. I weighed them and found they were nearly 10 grains lighter than the other cases. All are from the same lot and all are once fired.

This isn’t a “Lapua brass is going downhill” post. It’s simply something I’ve never seen and was curious on what explanation would fit the cause. Best guess I have is improper metal content.
Last two photos are next to a case that these were with in the tumbler. Same lot.

So I purchased a used 5-25 and now I’m needing a mount or rings. Scope is going on a impact action in a foundation stock.

I’ve always thought spuhr was one of the best but that’s been years ago and I’ve been really behind the times. This is my first high end scope and rifle so I’d like to do this right the first time.

I’m looking for recommendations on which scope rings or mount people are running nowadays for the Tangent. Is spuhr still relevant even after they got bought out by cz/colt? Is there a new top dog? And what’s thoughts on rings vs unimounts.

I’ve noticed a trend and all of my rifles and in the industry of having shorter barrels to accommodate suppressors, while also being able to do more than you would think with lower magnification optics.

The original scout rifle imagined by Jeff Cooper in the 1980s was a short Barrel bolt action with a wide field of view optic.

After listening to a vortex podcast I realized some of my favorite rifles are indeed modern scout rifles. I can’t reach Mr. Cooper’s weight limit of 7.5 pounds with steel suppressors and have no use for a .308 but between 300blk, 223, and 45-70 I think have the bases covered.

Would love to get your thoughts on a modern scout rifle, I bet you have one and didn’t even know it. 5x Prism with an offset red dot @10oz? Cooper would love that shit if he had the tech.

I have a like new Wilson Combat 6.5 Tactical Hunter with 18" barrel. I picked this up a few months ago and have yet to use it. It has less than 100 rounds down the tube. It has a Geiselle SSA-E flat trigger installed. It comes with a surefire muzzle brake.

Keep your heads on a swivel gents.

I got into AR's near the tail end of the quadrail era. I never liked holding them but that's just the way it was if you wanted to be cool and more modern than the plastic mil spec handguards. The first time I saw a slim smooth HG I knew it was the future. Once I held one I became thoroughly disgusted with quadrails.
Here we are in 2023 and I'm seeing them everywhere, like a bunch of kids just discovered them and think they're the new hotness.
I dug one out of my junk parts pile. Still horrible to grip. Still snaggy. Still heavy.
In the age of Mlok and Arca what do quads offer? If I want an HG that isn't great to hold I'll get another Seekins SP3R so it at least rests on surfaces nicely. Or throw an Arca rail on something and gain flatness and function.
Besides maybe the nostalgic feeling that makes people retrogress, what am I missing?

Family of 4 and we are in the market for a second tv. This new one will be used as the main tv upstairs and the current one will go downstairs for the kiddos.

We aren’t gamers, and we don’t spend a ton of time watching tv. Mostly stream shows and movies, and some sports.
Budget is in the $1500 range. The two we’re looking at are the LG 75” QNED85 mini-LED or the Sony A80Ck OLED which is a 65” screen.

We were leaning OLED since the 65” should be a good size without taking up the entire space between two windows, but I worry about the ambient light issues. Plus I mean 75” would be kind of cool.

Below is a picture of the upstairs living room and the couch is 12’ from where the tv would sit. A 75” would fit between the two windows, but not with much wiggle room (roughly 2” on either side).

So for our casual use what would you experts choose between these two, or another good option in the $1500 range? I’ve been going back and forth and can’t make up my mind. I’m leaning towards the LG QLED 75” more for the brighter screen. The one negative about OLED’s that I read about was that they just can’t get as bright as the QNED and that’s a bit of an issue in a room with a lot of ambient light. We have a lot of windows in the living room. We do have blinds we can close, but we rarely use them just because we love our view.

So enough rambling. TV’s are not my area of expertise and after reading all the reviews and pros and cons I’m left undecided. Figured some of you on here might help me make the call.

I suspect the answer will be close to: “Either one, both are good, pick the one you like”. But I’m checking to see if there’s an opinion on one vs the other.

I’ve been researching for a 6.5CM long range build and thought I had pretty much decided on the MPA BA Pro2. But lately I have been eyeballing the American Rifle Company offering. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience regarding the two?

• Physical differences; scope height, length of pull, etc
• stuff I haven’t thought of

I appreciate any input from the collective wisdom and experience of the forum. There’s lots of info on each gun separately, but not much in the way of compare/contrast.

PS, I noticed today that MPA’s description indicated that the BA Pro was built to meet the 2023 price limit of $3k. Price hasn’t gone up yet, but I’m sure it will.
