First 308 reload

After a lot of research and talking to people, I ordered a lot of reloading equipment. My goal is to gain accuracy with my 308 for competition. I’m just finding it hard to see where I start. There are a ton of opinions on what works and I know I am going to go way down the rabbit hole on what my reloads consist of. If anyone can suggest what my first purchases should be when it comes to case, primer, powder, and bullet? I have a lot of federal Sierra matchking 175 brass. I was thinking Varget or IMR 4064 and 210M? Maybe stick with Sierra bullets because it’s what I know. But I am afraid I am being to nervous to stray from what I know. Any advice would be appreciated!!

SOLD V8 ported staccato c2 for trade/sale

Looking to trade/sell my Staccato c2. This was a non optic cut model that was DPO cut by David at DSC Gunworks. He also handled the v8 port. Gun shoots incredibly flat for its size. Pistol will come with a delta point pro 2.5 moa (with black multicam ranger wrap), full dpp Dawson mounting kit and rear sight with proper size front iron for cowitness. Low profile mag well included as well. As you can see in the photos the mag well pin is an STI pin that was dremeled to fit, as by the time I noticed I ordered the wrong one they were out of stock. There is also one silver screw in the trigger guard. If this is an issue I will order you a new pin and screw kit once purchased.

The grip was professionally stippled by SRB customs in Ekis texture, full wrap outline, kept logo, recessed border, finger pad not stopped, NO GRIP REDUCTION.

Four mags are included, 3 16s and 1 17.

Also included is a brand new long shadow Huron holster with a safariland QLS, Coyote brown (ejection port covered). I just got this and it hasn’t left my office, just a few dry fire drills.

Upper hand owb ccw holster in spade, few weeks old, hasn’t been carried with

The iwb holster is either a g code or a qvo, I bought it second hand and can’t remember. It looks like a qvo.

Preffered trades: DPO cut staccato P, XL, XC. Huge bonus if it is ice comped. Other 2011s will be considered

Walther pdp full size (pro) with a comp, optic

Walther q5 match

SCARs.

High end optics (hunting/NRL).

NV, thermal setups.

Pretty much everything will be considered, worst I can say is no.

If you have any questions or would like additional photos please let me know

Sale price is 3000, but trade/partial trade would be preferred

Bipods under $400

It has become apparent our Harris bipods aren’t cutting it. We are searching for a proper replacement & and quite frankly there’s so much info that it’s confusing.

We are going to buy (2) bipods, this is what we would like to maintain.

1. Adaptable to sling studs. We will be transitioning to a rail of sorts for a couple of rifles,( it looks like ARCA is the standard?), but need stud capabilities as we shoot multiple rifles & changing all of them over is not feasible.

2. Great adjustability for Bench & Prone shooting.

3. Less than $400 all-in/ per Bipod. Everything needed to use the bipod.

What’s the pick for all this?

Pic for Attention

Thank You.

More Adult Children Living with Parents

Bored man watching TV

John Nolte

It doesn’t get any sadder than this: “19 percent of men and 12 percent of women in the 25-34 demographic cohabit with their parents.”
Nearly a fifth — a fifth! — of men aged 25-34 live with Mom and Dad?
What?
At least the parents aren’t happy about it.
The Hill reports:
A recent Pew survey found two-fifths of dads believe parents hosting adult children is bad for society, while only 12 percent think it’s a good thing. Moms agree, albeit to a lesser degree.

COVID-19 sent adult children back to the nest in unprecedented numbers. A stampede of younger millennials and older Generation Z progeny have fled roommates and cramped urban apartments during the pandemic for spacious homes in thinly settled suburbs with full kitchens and convenient laundry facilities.
I have terrific parents. I really do…
I. Could. Not. Wait. To. Get. Out. Of. The. House.
Right after barely graduating high school I was out the door in my own apartment. Things went sideways about a year later, and I had to move back in. But I moved back out after a few months, while I was still 19, and haven’t been back since.
I don’t care how great your parents are. Why would anyone want to live with their parents?
Yes, I get that you save money and all that. But how do you put a price on independence? How do you put a price on the healthy pride that comes with knowing you are making your own way in the world? I’m 57 years old and still take pride in that.
It was 1985; I made $5.00 an hour; I made it. Barely. But I made it. My own apartment (no roommate), a bus pass every week, phone, electric, groceries… I made it. No HBO. Nothing like that, but the sense of living on my own, doing what I wanted, having my very own place… I still love it.
These parents are not doing their children any favors. Yes, parents should always be there to help, especially in an emergency or health tragedy. But to allow your 25-34-year-old kid to basically freeload… That’s not helping. That is stunting that kid’s growth. You have to push them out of the nest. You must love them enough to force them to stand on their own two feet. I’ve worked two jobs. I’ve worked 100 hours a week. You do what you gotta do, and those struggles are what forge you into an adult, into a man.
Letting a grown man work part-time at Safeway and spend the rest of his time in his childhood bedroom watching internet porn, playing video games, and getting high on edibles is a disservice.
Give him a time limit. Stick to it. Love your kid enough to take the hit to do what’s right for him.
During the first six months of the pandemic, the percentage of adults under the age of 30 who lived with their parents increased from 47 percent to 52 percent, according to the Hill.
That I get. That makes sense. The pandemic was an emergency. What’s more, how many parents and kids would’ve been all alone all those months had they not cohabitated? That 47 to 52 percent wasn’t just about finances. It was about families coming together. That’s a great thing. That’s what families are for.
But.
“In the years since, much of American life has returned to normal. But many pandemic boomerang kids remain in the parental home: two-thirds, by one estimate.”

Precision Rifle Gear Wind Zero system

We had the chance to get the Wind Zero system setup for the last PR7 class here at Gunsite. If you have not yet seen this, jump over to Wind Zero and have a look. This is going to make a huge difference in training clients is the fine art of reading wind. We placed sensors out at 300 and 600, had students focus at each range and read mirage, then compare that to the ACTUAL wind value. No more guessing, then having another student hold 'something' and shoot. Now you have a precision instrument giving you the actual wind value and direction, not tainted by the hold your shooter may or may not be using. This is an unmatched training tool.

As soon as the weather cooperates with my schedule, I'm going to make some videos of the mirage at range, along with the actual values. I plan to use those in class, and we will publicly post some to show the system in action. I expect this to make a big difference in the XLR class, where we can put three sensors on on the target line for all three ShotMarker targets to make calibration easier than ever.

I'm having talks with Doug about having the data from the receiver stream via USB and/or BT directly into the wind zones in Field Firing Solutions, thereby producing instant accurate wind solutions at distance. The military project is coming closer to reality, so we are actively working on the port of FFS to Android right now.

What is this stuff in my barrel's chamber?

10.5" Odin Black barrel
Fast forward to 42 seconds. What is this? Video was taken after cleaning with BoreTech C4 several times. It is located on the body location of the chamber right before it transitions to the shoulder.
.300 blackout barrel. No more than 70rds thru it. Light strike, doesn't go into battery 75% of the time, hard to extract round when light striked and/or when it doesn't go into battery. Almost have to mortar it to get the live round out. Happens to all factory and handloads.

For comparison here is another of my 10.5" Odin barrels that has over 1,500rd thru it. ZERO issue with this barrel. 10.5" Odin SS barrel
